For those who can afford it this ship really does well in small roaming gangs etc tanks like a beast and honestly the dmg isnt that bad :)
Ow ye i forgot to mention u can perma run the XL booster hehe
For those will silly amounts of ISK upgrade to faction items as u wish if u buy a Gist XL u can add a couple more Gyro's for extra dmg.

Only a few things to say.
1) If you can perma run a T2 X-Large dont waste 2.2 bil on a Gist X-large. Buy a Pith X-Large (820 hp vs 602) or something like that
2) I hope you are never webbed off a gate and dampened while being hit buy a couple of enemies.

I would just be thankful i have an insane tank, hope i could make it back to the gate intime before i grow old.
The reason i mentioned the Gist XL was because of the low Cap use, which means u can drop a few cap mods increase ur dmg and tbh with the Mael bonus etc overall you will rep more and do more dmg :). (cap mods reduce shield boost amount, remove them you boost more etc)

Really, trying to tank something is stupid, unless you're in a titan or MS and that alone is debateable.
It takes one inty to point you down and one intel channel to call for help and all your tank is gonna be useless if the blob comes.
Trying to avoid taking damage is much better.

With everything i mentioned u will still rep 5 secs well over 1300 resists are good enough, em being lowest 72.
If u want to avoid damage sit in a station in 1.0.
For the love of god GANG SHIP!!! I will never get caught flying this ship in .0 all alone by a single inty.

personally I'd never put T2 rigs on a PvP ship, theyre just too damn expensive. ☼☼☼ Don't even THINK about it rookie...I have all my capacitor and more hit points than you can POSSIBLY imagine. ☼☼☼

The uber tanked maesltrom is more suited for the type of operation where you are not likely to cross into a gate camp. Example woudl be defensive ops or BS attacks on POS warfare, engaging close to capital ships, where speed is not really mandatory, and tanking POS guns is important. It really works well on this role as the type of ship to warp form a POS into fight dish damage at medium range and tank coutner attacks. But should not be used into a forced entrance on a system (not that i have jumped into a bubbled gate on last 6 months, covert ops solve this pretty much) where MWD might be necessary.

If you want to mix shield tanking and cap power relays (which does have its uses sometimes), go all-out. This is a case where the returns actually improve as the penalty gets less and less (the penalty is stacking penalized..lol), and the returns (+24% cap for T2) are the same.
That said, on a battleship it may not be the best idea unless you go for dual booster or something. Might be able to run a dual x-large T2 with 3x ccc rigs and 5x cap power relays.

ya know, in gang fights its a waste to use tacklign gear on BS, when there are other ships far more suited to that role. I don 't use tackling gear on any BS for ages, since the lock time is to big to catch anything smaller than an elephant.
