Hey guys,
Not really sure how to describe this problem, so I'll do it with images!
http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/9005/vlcsnap6203611nm5.png
As you can see VLC likes to keep the effects on after they've been in the video, it makes for horrid watching of great videos. Only seems to do it for the .mkv's though? How to fix this horrid problem.
Oh, I have yet to download the CCCP codec but will as a last resort if needed.
Thanks, The Internetz.

What is your computer's specs. Mkv are notorious for absolutely whoring pc resources.

I have the same problem. Some vids have it, some vids don't..
When I switch to fullscreen, then back to normal, it gets fixed (untill it happens again).

Dave, sometimes that is an effective fix for the problem, other times it's not so effective.
Also my VLC seems to do this - http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/309/vlcsnap6233160qu3.png
See the blurriness around local chat and the modules? (Thanks to The Church for the video btw)
Hopefully theres just a little option in vlc that I can change and it'll fix, otherwise its CCCP codec.
Thanks, The Internetz.

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 24/08/2007 14:27:06 If you mean the new Church video, here's what happened:
1. Either the original WMV or my computer's WMV decoding is screwed up. 2. I re-encode the WMV to MKV. 3. For obvious reasons, the MKV is screwed up!
That kind of appearance is common with a badly-encoded WMV file; H.264 never does that, or at least never should! You could also try using something other than VLC. But in this particular case its either my fault or the original video maker's fault, and I'm not sure which.

The blurriness around the chat/modules was done intentionally AFAIK.

Well, the newest Church video seemed to do it a bit more than others, but there are more that seem to do it.
I'll go through my other videos to try and find more examples.
Thanks, The Internetz.

Yeah, had the same problems in that vid. Not had any other probelsm with other vids. Still was an awesome vid though. Not sure but I also think the blur at gang and chat was done intentionally (or how the fsck you say it ).

So what was the problem?
As I've mentioned a few times, its because my WMV decoder was borked, so when I re-encoded the video, the re-encoded version was also borked.

Would that mayhap be the explanation why mkv files keeps getting constant freezes on my machine, like 1 second freeze of video(not sound) every 10-15 seconds=ySSj for watching thoose files :(
Anything I can do to improve it, bar buying a new computer? /* Whats a guy got to do to get a smile off around here */ |
