Edited by: Ricky1989 on 24/08/2007 15:13:11 Edited by: Ricky1989 on 24/08/2007 15:11:38 Okay I read the patch notes about the new capital navigation window. So I logged onto SiSi and mapped the shortcut to see what it was. I used the shortcut as was amazed by what I saw
Capital Ship Navigation Window
From here you can see what solarsystems are in range of your capital jump drive and the fuel it takes to get there.
No need for jump planner anymore
Thank you CCP! ----

But is it optimal at finding routes ? This is something that need serious testing. ---

Meh. That is still far away from jump planer. It's a good start but they need to work on it quite a bit more (filters for stations, sovereignty, cyno jammers, cyno beacons and so on comes to mind ;) )

More querying and lag for the server?, well ok it doesn't replace jump planner but it does help if you need to get to an op and you can quickly get if your in range and have enough fuel. ----

Now I am curious, what do you dislike about my Jumpplanner? I can't say that I have had many complaints over the last 21 months with 800.000 visits since the Jumpplanner is online. And with the next update all complains that I did get will be solved.
So while I rationally agree there should be a capital planner ingame, I am curious why you seem to dislike the Jumpplanner. ---- Weeks of programming can save you hours of planning. Jumpplanner v2.0 - Routeplanner for all jumpcapable ships! |

Any chance of jump bridge (5au) and titan portal (3.5au unaffected by skills) being added to Jumpplanner? Fuel consumption on jump bridges, which is something like: Distance * 500 * Ship Mass / 1,000,000,000 , would be especially handy. _

I don't dislike your jump planner, hell I even have it bookmarked in my favourites and use it all the time. Its helped me out loads of times, the point I was getting at, it gets annoying to keep having to minimise EVE and open open internet explorer to find out how much fuel it takes. This problem has been solved. I will still use jump planner however for waypoints as the new ingame window doesn't provide this.
I never said I disliked it.

Cool, nice to hear!
You know that the Jumpplanner is IGB compatible? And if you set the optional trust it fills in the startsystem for you. ---- Weeks of programming can save you hours of planning. Jumpplanner v2.0 - Routeplanner for all jumpcapable ships! |

I wouldnŠt overestimate the traffic ... youŠd need like a 200+ fleet of caps all planning different routes at the same time in the same system (aka server cluster) to even notice anything. Although IŠm not a cap pilot, I think a proper ingame-planner with the mentioned options isnŠt too much to ask for. The guy that made the OOG planner did a great job, and people like him are what makes the game community the great thing it is, but it doesnŠt really serve as an excuse for half-hearted ingame solutions. ItŠs not like quickfit or the like, that allow you to research setups and fitting variations - this is travelling ingame, just like any other route, and shouldnŠt rely on 3rd party stuff, no matter how much we all appreciate those tools.

Well its still doent help when trying to create pos jump bridge routes + fuel, hopefully there will be some tool to help with this, but i doubt it. I have looked + asked for the pos bridge fuel calculation and cant find anything, other than a really obscure reference to the titans jump portal fuel calculation, but searching for that presented no worthy results either

For the route itself you can use the Jumpplanner; the portals distance is 5 lightyears which is the same as a dreadnought without jumpdrive calibration.
I don't know how much fuel they use up tbh, but it is one of the things I want to do as well with the Jumpplanner. AFAIK it is based on distance and the size of the ship. ---- Weeks of programming can save you hours of planning. Jumpplanner v2.0 - Routeplanner for all jumpcapable ships! |

Read up for the fuel calc
It's only potentially wrong in it's method of rounding. Capsules take 0 ozone. _

I do second the feeling. I love the jump planner and have it bookmarked for use. Helped me out many times moving my carrier around. Its great to see this ingame though, hopefully will be more to help capital pilots in the future.

The First Tab does yes, the second shows systems in range and fuel amounts needed of your jump drive and skills.
