Moongoo and alliance embezzlement... Jeeze what a lack of creativity. Reallocate funds for Icelandic air fare to developing an integrated player input function in the UI. Then talk directly to the customers with polls to collect demographics and game preferences

When people have had enough booze, and some says "Goons rock", or "I am Darius III", surely some drunk in the bar stands up and says "I hate Goons", and takes a swing.
Or is it because the griefers keep a low profile during Fanfest.
Maybe it's because people who go are sensible enough not to be deported from Iceland for 'assault' charges over a video game.

Eternum Praetorian wrote:It takes a great deal of responsibility I imagine, traveling to Iceland and all of that. But I suspect the preparation in game must be far more difficult then simply scoring a ticket and getting on a airplane. Think about all of the extra accounts that you have to make to exploit the vote? There is also that buddy program thing... and not to mention kestrels filled with dozens of plexes. I am sitting on a massive wad of ISK in my corporation. I acquired this ISK from alliance wide taxes and mining moongoo in nullsec for a couple of years. I am planning on liquidating my isk and buying cosmic buttloads of plexes to activate a veritable army of accounts with my wealth and open access to alliance resources. But... I am still not sure if I actually want to be a CSM. Can I get some guidance from anyone? I admit that there is a certain appeal in standing on the shoulders of the player base and taking credit for everything people worked towards collectively. "Eternum the champion of CCP" has a nice ring to it. But I just don't know if I want to dedicate THAT much of my life to a freakin video game, ya know? I figured that I would get some feedback from the rest of the community. Any input that you may have would be appreciated. Thx!
You need lots of time. I mean lots. EVE has to be something you're very serious about. Also, remember you're going to be a CSM for a year. If you can't dedicate yourself to a game for a year... CSM isn't for you. I considered running for CSM this upcoming cycle, but elected not to due to my school schedule (I'm in nursing school).
Also, the reason why nullsec tends to have the most representation is because we have the most time and dedication to do so. Nullsec players have a LOT more invested in the game. Its harder to leave. Hisec players are much more casual, fragmented, and don't have the deep ties that nullsec players do. (You can theoretically solo all the time in Hisec. If you solo in nullsec, you die pretty quickly). In nullsec, community = life. So the bonds are tighter, issues are more well known, and altruism is actually more present. (I've seen more ppl screwed in Hisec than I ever have in nullsec)
Internet spaceships is srs bizness.

I came to that decision when I realized that there are quite a lot of people, within and without my coalition, who like me; so, I figured a great thing to do for them in return for all of their likes here on the forums would be for me to go to Iceland and represent them. Well then Lyris, I guess we will see if your army of alt accounts and Alt liking accounts can defeat mine. May the greater exploitative legion emerge as the victor! Of course you have risen by a factor of 44 likes in roughly 8 hours, even though you have posted far less times then that.... I guess things for my alt legions are not looking so good atm, when compared to yours I made at least a hundred posts over the past weekend. Why is it such a hard thing for you to believe that 44 of them received at least one "like," from someone other than myself, during the past eight hours that I've been sleeping? The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

Lyris Nairn wrote: Not necessarily true. Prior to finalizing my choice to run for CSM this cycle, I of course ran the idea past the directorate; but, despite the fact that I am not endorsed as one of our coalition's candidates I am still running. And if my position as the most popularly "liked" player in EVE Online is anything to show for it, I will be able to build a campaign platform around the same sorts of statements which have garnered me all those "likes".
I don't know you and I don't even come exactly from your alliance (quite the opposite).
But the stuff of yours I have read seems quite sound. Much more than some others, proclaiming sweetener carebear things they won't actually do, or others who sounds total jerks / with nasty mentality "because I can".
We could use a CSM member that is neither a known jerk nor a complete bear and has still a positive / constructive yet "pew pew" attitude.
Jowen Datloran wrote:The CSM is another meta gaming tool. And as usual CCP allows these tools to work their little magic until it get exploited a bit too much. CSM 6 managed to pass that point by far.
And yes, I credit none of the change of direction for CCP to the CSM. On the contrary, it just highlighted how little value the CSM have for the wider player community and I hope to see this institution shut down or radically changed in the near future.
I invite you to play any of the terrible MMOs out there, where you NEVER get a dev to post, you NEVER get any feedback, any response. You are just a sitting sheep along with thousands others, the deciding heads will never hear any of your concerns.
While CCP are much more communicative than the average MMO devs, having a CSM who can hear and let trickle out information is a positive thing. Furthermore CSM even with their low powers can at least *talk* with someone at CCP and have the playerbase concerns heard. Of course every CSM member will have their ideas, agendas etc. but having a little power "institution" is still better than the fat nothing you get in the other games. |
