Can we not have more undocking ports on stations?
Anyone undocking at the busy stations will hit traffic, cans, wrecks, corpses and other space junk. I think there would be 100 people fewer in Jita as most of the time they are stuck trying to escape the station and end up staying in Jita much longer than they wanted.
Sods law also dictates that you actually want to warp behind the station so you end up getting stuck on the station and/or other traffic exiting the station. Anyone ever been caught by the jerk in a hauler who hits AP as soon as he undocks and then goes afk whilst his hauler bashes the station for 5 mins (It may have been me once or twice but I am not the only one)
How about North & South or Up/Down Exit ports, depending on the type of station. (In Jita it could be N/S/E/W/U/D)
It would also give the station campers additional ports to cover escapees other options.
Anyways just an idea whilst I have a brew and a smoke.

never had that problem, even in jita tbh, just make sure to change direction as soon as possible after undocking and you wont get stuck in the 20 people outside

Alas, in Jita, changing direction blindly means there's a high chance you'll just double click on someone else's ship, the moon, or the station. I'd recommend the Ctrl-D Ctrl-A method of undocking. Either that or you really need to wait until everything is loaded so you can zoom out and then pick a direction safely. ----------------------------- "Oh, we're sorry, you had the 'NakedAmarrChicks' bit flagged in your account somehow." "Wait, why was there even a flag for that to begin with?" "..." |

Multiple exit points on a station is something ive been wanting for quite a while, yes ok its going to screw with things like camping a station, but dont ccp want to get away from the whole blobfest?
I think that alot of the problem in jita is people trying to get out! just goto 4-4, how many times is there 50 or so people undocked attempting to warp away?

I think stations should be like Gates. Undock and end up 15km in a random direction. Sorts out a lot of bumping issues, and means people can no longer play dock/undock games. --

From what I saw hinted in the walking in stations video undocking will change with the new engine... or at least I hope it will. More undocking points would indeed be nice, but the whole thing really needs some form of traffic control system that overides player commands in the station vicinity and puts ships into some sort of holding pattern or some sort of automated parking/traffic control. The current implementation as far as I can tell is the system undocks, travels x distance and stops. The next ship does the same and crashes into it, and over and over again, till the slightly crappy current implementation of physics make the whole experience into one huge clusterfck. They all undocked spaced out nicely, but then the game engine just forgets about them and they blob.
Now that I think about it the way I would do it is after undock a ship sets to a limited speed, according to a lowest common denominator, if a warp is initiated it vectors off the undock path before warping so as to clear space, if its left alone it keeps going untill it automatically orbits the station. A few orbiting ships might collide this way, but it would be much cleaner than the current implementation and would allow undocking ships to warp out manually with ease.

that if you don't get stuck in the black screen thingie ...
4 exits random chosen ... or even get ejected from station at 500 to 1000 km or whatever distance ... randomized
will solve the exit blobs and undocking blindly into enemy hands

Other games have a smart undocking system which will put you out of a bay depending on your ship size and trafic outside. Shouldnt be hard for eve to do the same.

Traffic control is, pardon the pun, not going to fly with pilots who shoot for a living.

At the very least have undock paths that ships follow when undocking rather than just doing X speed forwards for Y seconds then stop. The result could be multiple undocking lanes that are selected in sequence.
And for God's sake, why do ships undock c*ckeyed?
