The Kings daughter defeats the Lich King. Not that I care that she beat the lich king but the "You fool no man can kill me!" Then she stabs him in the eye (Which is pretty *****in) and says "I am no man" or something to that effect.
The whole hair whip as she pulls of the helmet....The whole girl power ambiance just killed it, I wouldnt supprise me if there were takes of her killing the lich king and giving the little cheer leader hiccup!
Like when the lich king was running through his check list of things to be invincible from,
1. Tigers - Check 2. Elephants - check 3. Squirells - check (He has seen national lampoons christmas vacation, those things can jump at you from a christmas tree and attack your face) 4. Man - check 5. Woman - Ahh **** it
Either that, or he missed a guideline in the magical invincibilities law book that "Man and woman must be defined separately for any defense charm to be protected by either eventhough they are the exact same race"

Hmm for this topic I'll have to say the "Titanic" I mean come on we all know before a trailer was made that the ship would sink! Although if it was hit by a comet or a band of pirates then that would make the show more interesting, right?

Do a bit of research tbh.
The prophecy of the Witch King not being able to be killed by any man, is made by Glorfindel back in the middle of the third age. He tells ESrnur who commands the Men during a great battle, that: "Far off yet is his doom, and not by the hand of man will he fall." This happens after Glorfindel scares of the Witch King, and ESrnur wants to follow and kill the Witch King. This was taken as no person of the race of Men could kill him, obviously it wasn't.
Oh, and Eowyn isn't the King's Daughter, she's his niece.
(Yes yes, I am a nerd, but internet spaceships forum you know)
Though I do agree fully that the scene gets a bit of corny when she takes of her helmet, yet it appeals more as "WIN" moment I guess.

was liking it, the story was good and then the ending like wtf. Military experimenting with humans making them think they are living in the 17th cetury. suspending air access over that part and the monsters are the villagers dressed up to keep villagers there....
I don't think you got it right from what I understood it was a group of average people, one of them being VERY wealthy, who decided that with the crime and violence in the 'modern' world, and some events they experienced our society was going downhill and they decided to raise their children in a safe, sheltered environment without violence, and without knowledge of the violent society beyond. The really rich guy organized the piece of land and all the paperwork required to ensure it would be undisturbed. There were no military experiments involved.
The 'monster play' and the frame story was to ensure the children, who had been born there and never knew anything different, wouldn't try and go too far, where they would encounter the 'real' world and experience violence.
I thought the movie was brilliant, tbh. One could argue it was far from being even remotely realistic, but I loved the whole 'escpape from modern society, our children should be safe' idea behind it. And the irony of how violence developed within their peaceful back to the roots village anyway, without guns, without TV, and without drugs.
Awesome acting from the blind girl, too.
yes yes... good concept, awful deployment. going into a horror movie and coming out after seeing a social drama bs movie isn't quite the way i want to be robbed of 7$

I dont care if it was in the book (I read them all, but dont remember that but that was a long time ago.) She was a good character, she hacked off a wyverns head and stabbed the lich king in the eye. There is no questioning her badassdom. However, couldnt she have not said anything and if someone needed more of a hint, they could have written in another line for aragon, the king, or the brother as all those characters dropped hints of her doing something great in a time of need. Something like this
Aragon - You are a shield maden of Rohan and you done what no man could ever do.

the Return of King was scene was a bit overdone. But the part that killed it for me was that after she had killed the Lich King she had to (in a bit of formalistic Hollywood *CRAP*) be rescued from the orc general by Aaragorn and Gimli. It was so corny, we couldn't get through the film without a chick that had to be saved. Cut that scene and the whole movie improves.

Eowyn was badass but not an uber badass. I am guessing the Witch King of Angmar would have wasted her in a straight-up fight but he was overconfident assuming he was indestructible. Eowyn, not knowing any of this and ticked off just took her shot and got the Nazgul.
Her getting saved later was again from the book and the Director tried fairly hard to stay true to the books. For that take it up with Tolkein but considering when he wrote this I am not surprised at some misogynist angles.

in my copy of ROTK Eowyn was found by Eomer (who dispatched some knights to carry her and King Theoden off the battlefield) shortly after the fight. There was no last second rescue from certain death at the hands of an orc.
But anyway, we're getting off topic
Back on topic: Many movies where the good guys ultimately fail. Poltergeist! Okay, I liked the film, having a WTF moment isn't always bad, I suppose.

Aliens Vs Predator...
The film was "bareable" (and i use the term loosely) right up until the bit where the woman dons an aliens head for a shield, and its tail to a pointy stick...
Err WTF! C'mon you must be joking!! As if the film wasn't already bad enough!!!
Surely the head of the alien would still have acidic residue and therefore burn her? and wasn;t there a scene earlier in the film where an alien was flicking acid from its tail... so what happened to the acid in the tail of the alien she just stuck to a 100 year old spear??
I just hope the 2nd film is better!

Die Hard 4 - The CGI in the Fighter scene nearly had me in tears of pain.
Event Horizon - As previously said, the buildup was great, and then it was ruined near the end with Sam Neill (Sam Neill!! As a Villian!) turning into an Uber Demon.
Alien Resurrection - The Hybrid Alien was just.....ugh. However, i completely disagree with views on Alien 3, I thought it was second best in the series, behind the original, but better than Aliens.

I agree.... the part with that pyscho who had way too muych sun didn't make much sence... it was almost like the sun had given him super human strength, but at the same time, his arm just could fall off
tbh could have been alot better if all the characters didn't get killed off... but i spose the director go to near the end of the film & thought... anyways... my WTF moments are these:
after having read LOTR books for last 20 years almost once a year i go to watch the long awaited movies...
tomb bombadil skipped? wormtongue killing saruman in his tower instead back in the shire? I CAN LIVE WITH THAT... but what i will not forgive is:
- arwen saving frodo? ok, i guess they had to introduce the character somehow, instead some uberpwnage elf (glorfindel in the books). but... riding with a SADDLE? a ******* elf on a saddle? WHAT? how hard could it have been to fix that?
- elves in helms deep? like WTF again???
and the final kicker:
- undead army in minas tirith... killing all the enemies in one go. i mean, i played "battle for middle earth" were that would have been acceptable, but in the freaking movie? the undead helped aragorn to win against the corsairs, take their ships and get troops... they never went past that point.
these are the 3 biggest WTF moments in those movie. there are several smaller wtf moments, but easy to forgive those.
even as a big tolkien fan i know it was a difficult thing to make the script and the movies... and in fact i am thankful that frodos journey was cut into the movie in a way you would not get completely bored (while tolkien himself admitted he was bored while he even wrote that part)
i can also forgive cutting out big chapters (tom bombadil and the return to the shire)...
but why create such big and crap nonsense like the 3 points i mentioned...

Thank Raptor Jesus Episodes 2 and 3 partially redeemed that trilogy.
My biggest WTF moment in the newer Star Wars film was the "NoooooooOOOOOOooooooo!!111" scene. I doubt I was the only one in the cinema sinking in my seat with embarressment. Though less of 'WTF has happened to this plot' and more of a 'WTF has happened to the acting!'
Quote: Her getting saved later was again from the book and the Director tried fairly hard to stay true to the books. For that take it up with Tolkein but considering when he wrote this I am not surprised at some misogynist angles.
It's been a while since I've read the books now, so I don't quite remember, but I remember getting the impression of how she was treated afterwards as "Well, you came and fought in this war, even though we asked you not to, and you fought bravely and valiently. Well done. Now get back in the kitchen and make me some pie."
AI is the one that springs to mind the most though for the WTF factor. Not that it was a brilliant film anyway, but there was definately a bit where they could have ended it, and it would have been a good ending (if a bit sad) but instead they jumped a few hundred years into the future, I think they threw in something about aliens too.
As a quote from a review states:
Quote: "A.I." is an enthralling piece of filmmaking, and the least flabby Spielberg picture in several years -- until the ending. There is a perfect moment to close this picture, when David takes control of a sort of submarine-type craft and is about to submerge in the New York waters to find what he's been looking for. But instead "A.I." drags on for a fifteen-minute stretch that goes from unnecessary to weird and ends up simply mawkish. Pity.

I agree that A.I. is a mess of a film. Did the reviewer mention that A.I. was initially a Kubrick film. Having died before completion (even initial filming), Spielburg took it upon himself to finish the film.

That scene in the movie irked me, as well, but for different reasons. First and foremost, when the Lord of the Nazgul removed his hood, he wasn't supposed to be wearing a helm. Rather, he was supposed to have nothing but a circlet resting atop nothingness. I was really looking forward to seeing that, but instead he had some sort of lame-ass, crudely-wrought, and overly-ornate helm.
The second thing that irked me about that scene (and the also stuff with the Lord of the Nazgul in general) was that the lines were so much stronger as Tolkien wrote them and didn't need to be rewritten. To wit:
Nazgul: "Hinder me? Thou fool. No living man may hinder me!" Eowyn: "But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Eowyn I am, Eomund's daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead I will smite you if you touch him."
'Nuff said.
In regards to her killing the Lord of the Nazgul, it wasn't the fact that she was a woman that made her able to kill him. Rather, it was the blade that Merry stabbed him in the back of the knee with. It was wrought in Westernesse and bore an enchantment that broke the spell keeping the ringwraith "alive". Eowyn simply finished the job.
And yes, I love my Tolkien. I even managed to slog my way through the Silmarillion, though that took many months of on-again/off-again reading.

There is a load of movies i can nominate or scenes that made me wanan eat my soda can
- The signes is deffo one of the worst movies every that mel has ever been imo , extremly boring and lack of suspense in a supposed thriller ( Or that was the impression i got ) makes the movie sooooo much of a waste of time , tbh as soon as i saw a glimpse of the alien i also closed my VCR and switched to watch gladiator instead
- The punicher , seriously i have been facinated byt the comic books as a kid but to see that wuss they made play the char who aint even is same physical build ,i mean come on !!! Tbh when i saw the trailer i was like wtf this is sooo wrong but a moron i know in RL kept saying its awesome its cool go watch it and in the end i regretted buying the tickets If that was Frank castle then deffinatly i can play the role of queen Victoria.
- Was a bit dissapointed in LOTR part 3 not to watch the witch king smash hundreds of ppl abd he died sooo easy imo , but when i saw the extended edittion and saw how he pwned gandolf i was a bit satisfied how ever still it loook wayyyyy to easy to kill a lich like that but thats prob coz i am used to liches from dungeons of dragons who are near to impossible to kill not to mention their massive abilities.
