What happened seems obvious to me. At some point Purple Heart has uploaded a picture of his login screen to an image hosting site like imageshack or photobucket. Someone has then found it, and decided to use it in their image for whatever stupid reason.
I seriously doubt any kind of hacking is involved.

and purple as i said to you ingame m8 the picture they have used is from RMR.
not revelations.
and at that point if i am not mistaken you were in AWE corperation wich has exactly the same logo.
the only ways i can think of them getting this is if u gave it to them or like the above..i.e photobucket or similar.

Technically if this could be a real legal matter I'm thinking this thread should be locked as it's contents either now or possibly said in the near future could be used in court and could end up having the case thrown out.
Not that I'm opposed to juicy drama or anything but thought I should suggest that.

In what way could it? Using another company's intellectual property in one of your products without permission is pretty much clear cut. Nothing we can say here can really change anything...

but it most definatly is purple heart on that picture, as you can make out his name. How the inmage was obtained remains a mistery... probably he hosted an image of it though.

I don't know the exact way cause I aint a damn lawyer. But I've been through some big business cases before including one now and I know all material related to the case is saved. Since this thread was brought up showing proof of stolen material I'm almost positive it will be shown as evidence.
And I know lawyers on both sides share material upon request. And what we say can, believe it or not, change things in a case.
Theres no sense arguing with me about it, I just stated that as maybe a precautionary action. Wether or not this gets locked to legal actions is up to CCP, not me the lonely little forum poster who's at work on a lovely saturday afternoon.
Edit: Theres also the chance that CCP's legal department will look at it and be like 'heh, whatever'

If they don't take action then it will open the door for other company's to use there stuff without permission. So really in there interest of copyright they should send them a letter! Anyhow I hate tiscali they suck.

Here's my example as to why I say that. I do research on defective HP cartridges to find whats going on with them so we can improve on the product.
Occasionaly we get remanufactured cartridges from the customers which of course aren't covered under warranty, but they slip through tech support and get to us anyways. Some of these re-mans are obvious where they take off any HP logo, change the E-chip and OPC, and even put on a label stating that the cartridge is a reman and not a HP product. All that is ok under the HP legal guidelines.
But sometimes we get a reman that is done so well that the average person would never know the difference. They leave the original OPC in or put in a new one that looks like a HP used OPC, they leave all the HP markings on the cartridge. In fact in most cases the only way to tell is from the E-chip (as we've got the programs that can 'sniff' them out).
I save every reman that comes in as the cartridge can either be used to go after the customer for fraud (should we find out that they knew it was a reman and blatantly traded in a defective cartridge made by another company for a crisp new hp one) or the offending company for infringement. But the legal team doesn't jump all over every case like a fat kid on a twinky. It's up to their discretion as to how serious they think the issue may be.
CCP could very well just send a angry letter to this other company and that feature may suddenly disappear without either side ever setting foot in a courtroom.

This is quite interesting...
One questions why someone would do such a thing... copy the character selections screen (and yes, that does look like one pre-rev), and use it in one of their game.
And btw, tiscali... do all their games look like they were made in 1990?

This is funny. Why steal the login screen? I can understand stealing the eve portraits, they look great and you can avoid hiring a real artist by ripping them off. But the whole login screen? With purple's name right on it? That's just weird.

When you apply to a corp they normally request you to send a pic of your char selection screen to avoid spys. Do you remember doing that to any corp application during RMR Purple? Can you identify the corp logo used in that screen?

Yepp, looks exactly like the old style character selection, right down to the "TERMINATE" and "JOIN GAME" buttons to the right of the image.
