I would like to thank GM nova and the team, as well as all the Eve TV crew for producing the best tournament in gaming history. The rules where very well thought out and this is reflected in the quality and diversity of matches we have seen every day. Special thanks to Xyliana for working so hard to make this all come together so well. A spectacular event, truly a watershed moment in gaming history. Thanks again to everyone involved!
Amazing work.

Fights have been good, and EVE TV have excelled themselves. I still maintain the prizes are stupid though. ------

I agree, I think this is the best tourney to date. The variety is excellent, I love the unpredictability of the fights, the variability of the EW and the new strength of the logistic ships.
Well done all involved, so far!

From a viewer's perspective, I would say it's on par with the last oturnament, but not better.
From a pilot's perspective, this tournament is a bigger headache. I always love fighting in the tournaments, but this one is giving me a bigger headache than the rest :p

I agree that this is the best structured tournament to date and the extra ships allowed has made it far more entertaining. The GM's decisions have at times been utterly terrible and short sighted but that's another matter.
If I may make a suggestion for next weeks matches, it might be a good idea for the GM's to withhold a final decision on any potential rule violations until after the fight has been fought, even if this means having to disqualify the winning team. At least that way we would actually get to see the actual fights rather than be left feeling disappointed and frustrated the way we have this week.

I think perhaps the penalties for each type of infraction should be written down specifically somewhere, true, but so far the decisions handed down have been entirely within reason.
If you can't follow the rules (or count, as the case may be) then the penalties should be fairly severe. Otherwise teams will continually push the limits if all they suffer is a slap on the wrist.

The variety of setups and ships fielded is a testament to the hard work CCP has put into creating a dynamic and balanced game.
Excellent work Nova, and all of the CCP and EveTV staff who made this tournament possible. I have watched every minute of the coverage live on the stream and it is far more enjoyable than anything on television.

I never participated in previous tournements, but I have to say I like that fact that very few things are restricted in this tourney.
The only way I can think of to make the tourney better would be: - allow rigs - Make the arena bigger, and allow warping within the arena. this would force people to actually tackle, and would make the fights realistic.

It would also break up the "he who locks first, wins" button, which for me is the absolute worst part of this (and the last) tournament. Reikoku Diplomatic Forums |

As I have stated on numerous occations, I totally agree. We only need to find a way of allowing the TVCamera Cruisers to keep lock after a target warps within a grid.
Baby steps, we can't rush it. We will move firmly towards total freedom.

I would suggest the following changes:
-restrict remote repairing to t1 and t2 logistic ships (like osprey/basilisk, exequorer/oneiros...), this should reduce turtletanking all the time and make fights move faster -restrict teams to 5 sensor damps, this should make people use other weapons then drones and fof missiles all the time
I know that this is a cut on tactical freedom, but it would make the tournament way better to watch.

Why go that route? The tournaments were never ment to represent true PvP, because true PvP simply is not as much fun, and takes less skill.
I know your obviously set on this, and of course will disregard any opinions wishing for the opposite, but I really feel that what makes the tournament so special is BECAUSE it isn't like real PvP.

I agree with that. If I wanted to go watch some real PvP, I'd just go cloak next to N-RAEL gate and watch some ganks.
What makes this Tourney great is that it's like a sport- an abstract application of PvP skills in an unusual way, to test people's real knowledge of those skills. ------

Are you joking? You think activating damps and shooting missles takes skill?
Real small gang PvP requires piloting ability. This tourney doesn't. 98% of the tournament matches are won or lost before the match starts.

Hence why I wanted to go the other route back to the 2nd tournament, when there was no EW of any kind. Just 2 teams 30km apart, ready to tear each other apart. Even with the right strategy going in, it wasn't easy to win matches, trust me on that.
This tournament does require skill, but only if things are against you from the start, hence our match against Aftermath. Don't tell me THAT wasn't skill, because it sure as hell felt like it from my position.

I fail to see how the inclusion of EW lead to a reduction in the skill required to participate in the tournament. The fielding of EW represents a strategic advantage to whomever wields it. If you can ensure that your forces are able to strike at the enemy freely while denying your enemy the same, you have all but won the battle.
Success in battle requires equal measures of skill and strategy. Strategy without skill leads to collapse. Skill without strategy leads to defeat.

worst tournament ever!!!!
prizes suck! rules suck!
anyone who thinks watching 10 damp-ecm-FoF caracals is pvp.. or is even team based.. are idiots.
watching the final of the last tournament was more fun than ANY fight in this tournament.. there is no comparison from fielding faction BSs and having awesome teamwork to keep each other alive to fielding meta level 1 fitted caracals and pressing F-keys fastest.
flame me for this.. i dont care.. anyone with any sence of pvp will read this post and probably agree with it.. those who dont agree...are probably noobs who think playing for years longer shudnt be an advantage.

Sad, but true.
The rules really wern't thought out very well if you ask me. The fact that SO MANY teams are fielding the 10x Damp-Caracal setup (or a variation of it) has rendered any setup other than either the same or a fleet of Drone or FOF spamming ships utterly useless.
Damps were a bad idea in this tourney and the penalty on Faction ships is too harsh - nothing like the 2nd Alliance tourny where you saw a CNR explode almost every other fight.
The new points system is cool, it's GOOD that teams can field 10 t1 cruisers and it adds a cruicial element to the tourney, but when that equates to 50 Dampers i'm thinking some limits need to be put in place.
