You know why EVE keeps breaking records? Because World of Blowcraft continues to be terrible, and people want a change.

Sure, 35k, big thing. But next should be at 40. No sooner.
I don't think anyone was offended and yes, 40k is the next big number. Well, 200k is the next big number that we will hit, but 35k is nothing to sneeze about. Heck, when I first started with CCP as the Community Manager, EVE had 35k accounts, a PCU of 5k was a big deal. We've come a long way.

a new record is a new record, regardless of how much better it is than the old record
i mean the "fastest" person record changes in fractions of a second but the "new" record holder is always well lauded Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve-Forums:

I hear you Kieron. I remember like it was yesterday, I was playing on Sunday and a pop up box appeared saying "z0mg 6500 users we are teh greatest!"**
Now if theres only 6500 in, its cos it is in VIP mode

Edited by: Chun on 04/09/2007 22:59:53 Hate to say that, but I already have seen 44000+ logged into the dreaded Second Life at once.
- "most players on one cluster": prolly SL with 46,500 (1) - "most accounts" record: certainly WoW (9,000,000+) - "biggest cluster" record: prolly SL with 2000 servers (2)
Although my personal "most fun", "most complex" and "most dynamic" records go to Eve anyway ;)
So let's recruit more buddies to show the Lindens that 44k are no big deal for us.

A great number of them are simply chinese farmers, their numbers grow each day. Their numbers are so much higher than most players realize, and CCP would never own up to it.

Does Second Life even count as a game? I remember seeing on their website that Linden doesn't consider it an MMOG.

>>>EVE continues to be on the leading edge of the MMOG industry>>>
Grats to the 35k plus and the almost 200k accounts.
However, to be on the leading edge the number to beat is 9.5 million people having bought the game.
Have fun
