Here's another one of my random ideas. I'm sure everyone appreciates them.
Professor Bunsen inspired this idea with his registration method in his new project. Basically the idea is the same but as a service to other eve websites.
The registration method consists of signing up on a website and then sending 1 isk to a specified character. The intent would be to verify that the person that signed up is also the character ingame. Then using the wallet API the transaction is logged and verified.
What would be different is having one character designated to this purpose acting as a third party for other websites. The advantage would be those third party sites wouldn't need to keep an alt for this task or have to setup a cron job to constantly monitor the wallet transactions.
Thoughts? Comments? I think this would be pretty easy to implement, but I'm not sure of the demand.

This would be a natural followup for ricdics EBANK since they will have to do the wallet interface and alt thingy anyways.
basically EBANK should allow anyone to create an account, identify by asking them to deposit 1-n isk with a random message generated by EBANK. Then EBANK could verify their online personality and everybody could then authenticate agaist ebank.
The authentication would have to be done something like 3rd party sends challenge to given ebank account, you read it from your account and report it back to 3rd party to confirm identity.

Here's one of my random ideas, keep your sticky fingers off Optechs patented algorithms
The idea for linking and authenticating a web user account to an in-game character is straightforward, as is the "withdraw isk from your EveIndex account" functionality. The only thing Ebank would need to do differently is add daily interest AFAIK. So its just a separate transactions table and a daily "add interest" function.
Happy to talk to potential licencees!

I don't see any point in changing the amount of isk transfered by the player. No real need to make it random. You could just as easily have the user paste a verification code in the description of the transfer. Tired of the inane ramblings of the incompetent? Click here |

ah yes. didnt i say deposit 1-N isk with a random message. The random message is the authenticator and the 1-N isk is deposited because it has to be atleast 1 isk and while you are at it why not deposit more? =)

Ahh, I thought you meant 1 isk minus a random number. Tired of the inane ramblings of the incompetent? Click here |
