Edited by: Jester9mm on 12/09/2007 17:31:38 This is a complete joke tbh. People are talking about how the DT is quite fair. Server crashing is NOT DT! We should be reinburst for the amount of crashing time at least.
Advertised DT is covered in the EULA, server crashing due to someone not getting their S**T together is another matter entirely.
Even when the damn server is up, no one can do anything in fear of getting caught out in mid flight with a server crash.
Get it sorted please

And down we go. Im not an uber geek, but this doesnt seem to be an hardware issue after all. Given of course that youve raely removed the faulty hardware yesterday or didnt just plug it back in today.

@ Theophage lvl 3 missions dont scramble ure ship, so you shouldve e-warped out. If you where about to die you mightve lost it tho. So it depends on that. If its dead, file a petition for reimbursement when you can get back in. Make sure to elaborate what happened in detail and point in this direction as cause for the loss. The more detail you can give the more likely it is youll get it back.

Sooner or later they're gonna get so tired of hearing us b#tching that they'll fix it for reals. Sooner would be better than later.

my petition from yesterday got a REALLY fast response time : " Hi,
Thank you for contacting us. We're sorry for the late reply.
After a careful review of your case, however, we are unable to verify your loss in our logs as being abnormal in anyway, because of this we are unfortunately unable to reimburse your ship. Actually there could be other possible reasons for what you experienced, such as localized ISP problems, software conflicts, a corrupt cache and so on and so forth. All issues we can not verify and must refuse. Sorry.
Just let us know if you still have any questions though. Thank you.
Best Regards, GM LionFaithful EVE Online Customer Support "
HOW can they not verify that the game crashed what , 4 times just yesterday??
Shads
I had exactly the same thing only mine happened night before, they just dont give a ****

@Dax T Due to those db issues they may actualy be missing a whole lot of system logs about those losses. They can either replace everyones ship that is claiming to have lost one, which can be a very very bad thing, imagine 3000 ships get replaced and 2900 for no reason.. You get the picture. So they sadly might not replace some ships which they dont have logs about.Edit: The letter you got back is the standard no thing. So CCP doesnt realy say the issue is on ure side everytime you get that thing. It just means that they are unable to have traced ure problem beeing a server sided cause.

Originally by: Deviana Sevidon Despite all the issues with sudden, unexpected downtimes, there is one small thing I really love about the update.
Now it is possible again to zoom in on your Fighters and Drones at a really close distance, something that was not possible for a long time.
Watching these little critters circling through the sky and tearing things on apart on my command, I had missed for far too long.
So thanks again CCP for fixing the camera.
Did you do a fresh install?Sounds to me like you had lod(level of detail)unchecked in the Esc menu. It's not fixed. It's your settings afaik.

I am really disapointed about the instability of the server. We do not need a alot of new toys atm, all we need is a server that is stable. CCP, MSSQL 2005 was maybe a bad choice....

Edited by: Ushima Koranaki on 12/09/2007 18:17:35 @ Nimare, i agree that it doesnt look too rosy atm. But you have to keep in mind CCPs perspective. Maybe MSSQL was the only viable choice for them with the system and permanent load of processes they have. =/
My god, im getting a forum *****, someone fix the db! XD

Getting though Eve's "Trained Ape Devs" Survival Tip #4012: Don't try to play the day before and AT LEAST 2 days after a patch. Do you loose SIGNIFICANT amounts of gaming time because they tend to patch (both announced and unannounced) often? Absolutely. But trust a 4.3 year veteran on this one: It's a lot easier on the blood pressure if you do it this way.
Just accept that CCP's patching skills are some of the lowest in the industry. They always have been. Just accept that they don't give a flying F if you get to game or not. They never have. Just accept that you are paying money to people every month who: #1 Are NOT your friends. #2 Only (may) give serious (and timely) consideration to petitions that are from BoB. #3 Have managers, in the highest positions, that are too busy spending the money they are making from Eve on other (personal) projects to actually stop and run the game right. #4 Have finance officers too cheap to shell out the cash for software packages that could actually TEST patches before they release them onto all of their paying Beta testers, otherwise known as you and me. On a final note accept that: these people, by some cosmic chance or miracle, just happen to have created one of the most addictive games on the net; and that your firmly caught in that web of addiction, abuse, and neglect.
Now see? There. Don't you feel better having accepted your karma?
Bottom Line: Don't follow my example and post stuff like you have just been reading; and the whines above from other people. The devs pay us little enough attention as it is. They don't (won't) read threads if you cram it up with nonsense that they already know. I know you (my fellow player) are frustrated and feel neglected and abused. Welcome to the club! We long term veterans have felt that way for years. But, if you feel the need to vent about it, do it with your corp mates, or in local in game. If you have specific bugs to report great. But, if your going to post just to vent your frustration at some of the worst coders in the industry, don't bother. Everyone already knows that they are. (Including them.)
Now, to the part of the post that really matters, if anyone is still reading: I thought you guys (the devs) were supposed to be doing something about the lag issues in this whole "Need for Speed" initiative? Guess what? It ain't work'in! I have seen no significant change in the lag factor in ANY of the key commercial or mission running hubs, much less in moderate to large scale fleet battles in low sec or 0.0. In fact, some places have gotten significantly WORSE. Back to work apes! No banana for you! Two years!
There. Done. I was only attempting to help my fellow players with ways to deal with mounting frustration and to inform the devs that they are still (4 years later) not getting patches right. Take it as you will though, and fly safe........ when the servers are up.
