Hi all, im just so overjoyed with my new sound card Linkage!!! that i just had to make a post about it!
Installed a few minutes ago the thing is amazing! I didn't think i would notice the difference in sound quality upgrading from my old onboard sound but OH MY GOD, this thing makes it sound like you have a live band playing infront of your face. And games, take battlefield 2 for example; no **** it sounds like a war going on in your room, i cannot describe it. The clarity of every sound is just mind blowing! And last but not least, EvE-online sounds spectacular. It was already one of the best sounding games on my old onboard but now i can hear sounds i never even knew were there! Bottom's up to creative!

edit: I forgot.. Try to play "F.E.A.R" at night with lights off!! eheheheh you will see what that system can do ;)!!!!

I was never someone who went for sound in a big way. Figured it was important but not overly so so I had 2 bog standard pc speakers and onboard sound.
Then I upgraded the pc and decided, **** it, so I bought an Audigy 2 and a mid range 5.1 surround sound system and when I played my first game my jaw dropped.
The difference is amazing. Admitedly I still have the same sound set up but I wouldn't be able to stress enough how much of a difference a decent enough sound card and nice speakers can make to not just gaming but watching movies and listening movies as well.

I was in the same frame of thought years ago. I thought 5.1 pah. Then I played Unreal Tournament on a friends machine. The first time I fired the shock combo my eyes bulged out my head and a stupidly inane grin spread across my face! I bought myself a new sound setup the next day!

I've had an XFi Platinum for a couple of years now. Wouldn't trade it for any other card out there. F.E.A.R. nearly gave me a heart attack and Bioshock is several orders of magnitude more atmospheric (one of the only games I know where it is worth enabling EAX).

I have an Audigy 2 Platinum Ex for a few years now with a 5.1 reciever from Kenwood. Amazing card, I used it with the drivers from the KX Project (check their forums for the latest drivers) and it sounds amazing. Unfortunatly the Creative drivers for that card for Vista 64-bit are a complete disaster and the KX Project does not have 64-bit drivers yet. I'm stuck to my onboard card now and I miss my Audigy .
Does anybody have positive experiences with the X-Fi cards on Vista 64-bit? ---- Weeks of programming can save you hours of planning. Jumpplanner v2.0 - Routeplanner for all jumpcapable ships! |

ôDoes anybody have positive experiences with the X-Fi cards on Vista 64-bit?ö For Eve itÆs a waste of time as CCP stupidly decided to stop hardware sound from working last patch for everyone with Vista. Realy bad move and I which a Dev would give us a decent responce on a fix or why it was done.
Pre last patch is was great. Passive shield tanking guide click here |

I have a fatality, its in its box. It sucks, a lot.
BSOD with multiple eve clients. In XP x64 with 4GB ram (vista wasn't out) there was sound corruption. They fixed it, they turned off all hardware acceleration if you had 4GB ram.
Never buying a creative card again.

I have the Creative SB- Audio FX and it's a world of difference from my SB Audigy (sp?) Especially on my 5.1 Logitech. 270 watt sub ftw :D
Anyway, I thought it was interesting you brought up the BSOD about your fatality ( it's probably because you have Vista :p I have XP pro), because I was getting that problem too with one of my games (forget which one). I fixed it by up dating the drivers... that easy, I was kind of surprised.
But someone at CCP really needs to look at the Eve sound database or whatever, because there's so much potential for some great sound in the game.
