The scenario... I approach my agents station in 0.1 sec status system in my frigate. I am attacked by a player pirate and lose half my armour before docking. I then switch to my combat rigged battleship and exit the station, but the pirate does not open fire on me this time, being the coward that he is.
If I then attack the pirate, is the action regarded as continuous, so i am free to fight him, or is it considered a new action and I lose security status through being the instigator?

I believe that it would be classed as a separate action.

It would be considered a seperate act of aggression and, if he didn't have a -5.0 sec rating, you would receive a nice spanking from sentry guns for opening fire first.

"They" should implement a time of reaction against an aggression like till next DT. I dont see any exploitability at it...

I reckon that an act of agression against a member of a gang should allow that entire gang to engage the agressor. We had a pirate splash a friendly cruiser in 0.4, he jumped back into 0.6 with a -1.5 rating and we only have cruisers. So when he was flying round the station in 0.6 gloating he actually had to kill 2 more of us before we could react as a corp. We should have been able to gang and challenge him to down one of us, which would have allowed a battle between our cruisers and his armageddon without the sentry guns being involved. Can't see an exploit in it myself since the pirate would still have to engage first, which counts as consentual PvP in my book....
