[quoteSadly, most believed the BoB propaganda, because it was before it was unveiled what BoB truly was.
*******s - everyone knew what bob really was to begin with and for a long time everyone preffered to collectivelly ignore them or trust them.
Only a few, back in the old days had a big enough sack to just fight bob. Nowdays there's the goon effect but back then...

I have to confess that I was happy to see ASCN die, as they joined the dark side, and promptly died to it.

We are talking about "backstabbing" Cyvok, do we?
The guy who backstabbed Xetic, which have pioneered a region three times the size of Cyvok-Empire against every major alliance back then, build an community twice the size of Cyvok-Empire and which fough (and won) against Stain, Fountain, Curse and more pirates than anyone can think of. I mean, there would be more sense in giving it back to Conram than Cyvok because Conram rarelly got any bad press and actually led fleets through successfull fights and campaigns.
On the other hand what did Cyvok? Backstabbed Xetic, Backstabbed Stain, backstabbed left and right until he had no friends. Then his empire fell fast and spectacular to Bob. Besides that, if he would really come back it would be the ultimate hypocrazy after stating numerous times that he is fed up for good. He is despised for a reason, I wouldn't touch his frozen corp with a stick without fearing treason and bad management spreading around me.

funny how cyvok gets all the support now, 10 months after he abandoned ASCN.
HE did not leave ASCN because he was away with teh army, he left after he quit the army, (hrrmmmm quit eve and quit the army I wonder if that is coincidental?)
He left due to increasing pressure to resign due to his lack of presence and leadership ability in war. IN WAR, not peace, Cyvok was a great peacetime leader. No question about it.
Fitz makes a great point, wtf were you goofs when ascn was fighting??? I know you were sucking each other off and making as much isk possible.

Besides... if Cyvok created something like ASCN once he can carve himself a new legacy in 0.0, with outposts and all, if he chooses to do so I'm sure. Though I for once wouldn't say no if RA handed me a system or two =D

no he doesnt deserve it. he might have been a good logistics person but he wasnt a politician nor a pvp'r
he was told multiple times by well known highranking players from all around eve that bob would turncoat on them. and he and his gang of haulers sat there saying "no bob is our bestest friend forever".
tbh they deserved to loose it.

DOH.
Actually ASCN and BoB agreed to a war and the rules of it and despite advice to teh contrary Cyvok ordered the ascn forces to attack TPAR and siege it's station and pos's. Cyvok in his infinate wisdom defeated himself and ASCN.
His inablity to take advise from his leadership, however flawed (namely MadEye MaCreedy and Danari) and his failure to rally anything close to a high moral is the price he paid for his infamy.
If AXE and Ascn Had stayed together, If Virtuozzo took the helm sooner, if, if , if. Who knows what would happen but to be quite honest, Cyvok never had the parts to lead that Allaince against BoB.

I am not fitz, even tho I try hard to be as emo as he is.
NATmav is right btw, ascn was heavily pro bob / lv and anti RA. Lets not forget in August 2006 ascn sent the whole alliance to help LV kick RA off their last system (failing), and generally people in ascn did not have any sympathy for eve russians partly because of some propaganda we swallowed, partly because of the mega infamous 80 man login trap by RAT+SE to kill our freighters in the Esa pipe =P
Ofc in restrospect it doesnt look like giving a hand to LV was such stunning move since they didnt lift a finger when bob came for ascn, then napped bob at the end of the war but I think LV got what they deserved, plus constant shaming by the goons which makes it poetic justice in my eyes.
That said anyway, I am surprised there is so much love for old ascn by red alliance when really guys, ascn tried to kick you from your home when you were down to one station.

Yeah right ........ man, talk about rewriting history. TPAR was not attacked after the Pendulum message from Molle. Everyone knew what BoB's goals would be, the same they have always been and always will be.
Cyvok personally got the short stick, as he was going through a difficult phase in his life with the moving and stuff. I think it is regrettable that so much negative energy from such a broad group of people was aimed at him, in game and on the forums at a time he probably was most sensitive to it, and it essentially drove him from the game. It is always sad to lose a dedicated person who cares about a game due to such stuff.
However: ASCN was big, bloated, and didn't fully understand what it took to be in 0.0: size alone was insufficient to defeat an aggressive dedicated opponent who knew what he was doing. The OP never expresses any love for ASCN, which he shouldn't as ASCN did support one time (and one time only AFAIK) the effort to kick RA out of the last system.

I have a lot of respect for what Cyvok did in this game. He build a grand alliance which achieved many great things.
He was a victim of the BoB propaganda machine, which ruthlessly and relentlessly attacked both the character and player with the intention of alienating him from the people he commands as well as his allies, as well as pushing him one step closer to quitting. Nobody should have to go through that, especially over internets spaceship.
However, he does not command an alliance AFAIK, and should not be given control of any outposts without first demonstrating the will and capability to fight for and hold said territory.

but the only thing that really makes me sad in all of this was when I was visiting AZN 2 months ago when I was in the RISE contract, and found out that the *ONLY* good market down there was in the CoRM stations. AZN and neighbouring systems (E-PR0S and VNGJ-U) was like this abandoned system with nothing in it, not even a shadow of it former self.
That reminds me BoB saying once "but OMG we did so much more to 0.0 than ASCN ever did!". Well when I look at the AZN area, all I can do is weep.
but thos times are over. ASCN is dead. let it be. ---

I am not RA. Those are my personal feelings.
Cyvok was very idealistic and in some way an ordinary american guy who didn't have the capacity to think out of the box. That's why he swallowed the anti russian propaganda and whole of ASCN did. The western way of thinking was the biggest obstacle in his way.
That said, it still doesn't give anyone right to treat a person like Cyvok was treated.

convinient how you have forgotten so much about the conflict, there was pretty vitriolic smack from both sides. coming to the "defense" of cyvok now, when all this happened months and months ago is pretty ridiculous, and presenting him as this poor innocent man who deserved nothing and harmed no one is also rather an odd thing to do. ASCN had its own propoganda, of BoB being a bunch of basement dwelling quake 3 playing morons. and CONSTANTLY claiming that BoB was cheating in everything they did (I WONDER WHICH IS THE ONLY PART THAT ****** ALTS ARE GOING TO READ IN MY POST....HUMMM).
seriously, this happened months and months ago, stop trying to stir up the lynch mob with this recycled BS.
