well got the Mac code thought.. it didn't take to long.. and ordered the sky deal (i figure worst comes to worst, i might be taking my chances with the broadband side but hey least i can watch sky one when on hold.. )
trouble is its still up t 15days for switch though but least it should be instant with the mac code way of working..
oh and yes still having the issue.. in total i've got on for about an hour today (two 30min stretches) but then goes back to the 'checking status' and eventually turning 'unknown' has been like that for the last hour
I only hope sky dosn't develop any issues by the time i move over to them..

I'm in too....we'll have to see for how long. I filed a ticket with Eclipse too, urging them to talk to CCP to discover what the problem is. This is the second time in as many months Eclipse users have had problems.

I appear to able to hit something at CCP, then nothing. I assume that between 87.248.208.150 and the target 87.237.38.200 is under CCP control? CCP Can you comment?

Looking around other threads, all this seems to be related to the problems Tiscali users are having too...and seeing our beloved ISPs are one and the same thing now, perhaps it's no surprise

No, not in that way. Eclipse is part of the Kingston Communications Group. Just thought I'd read in one of the threads about all this, that some ISPs will route traffic via others, and that there was a link between the two. No idea if this is the case however, just trying to make some sense of all this. The fact that two major UK ISPs are having trouble with EVE online seems too much of a coincidence to me.

I have no idea I've been playing fine since the last patch, until yesterday afternoon. A couple of months ago a good number of Eclipse users were suffering constant disconnects, like Tiscali users are at the moment. I could log on, but would drop the connection after 10, 15, 20 mins play. A couple of days later the problem went away....I've been fine since. I think all sides are aware of the issues and just need to get to the bottom of them.

I can finally login. Been in and out to set up some long training tmes on my chars until I can be sure problems have been resolved.
Login times, aquiring bulk data time all seem normal. Not had a single update or response to my ticket with Eclipse.
It just started working again ?

Edited by: Thorvald Finnin on 30/09/2007 14:01:06 Edited by: Thorvald Finnin on 30/09/2007 14:00:02 You should be able to validate how the traffic is routed by resolving the IP addresses in your tracert to owners. Try a site like www.arin.net/whois. Last time I checked, the route in question doesn't include any Tiscali stuff (but YMMV).
The following have struck me during the times this issue has come up: 1) Only happens during peak times (weekend afternoons, evenings) 2) The issue starts to rear its head for no particular reason and goes away again at some point (for a while) 3) When I use PingPlotter it reports no problems; connect to the destination server and with normal (25-40ms) ping times 4) When I use HttpTunnel, I can connect (but slooooowly, because I've not subscribed). I don't know how this works, but I think you avoid using port 26000
I fear that Eclipse are blocking/severely throttling traffic on port 26000 (which I believe is a common port for download site), and are unwilling to own up to it.
Nevertheless, most of this is speculation or just observations by someone with IT skills in another area. I would love to see CCP's networking experts go speak to Eclipse's techies, and report their findings and analysis to this thread, as there is no way as a non-techie I can get to the bottom of what's going on.

i am also having the same issue aswell on my on connection and on my girlfiends conection. (both with eclpise internet). I also run eve from a laptop and runs fine in work, but when taking the laptop home the problem then arises of 'checking status' then going to 'status Unknown'. I have raised a ticket for both connections to eclpise but still no reply.

the issue is back for me.. stuck at 'checking status' and if i'm lucky i get through to 'status:unknown' after 10mins...
have used traqcert as per normal and it connects through to ccp fine.. so as per normal it isn't the line... its got to be eclipse or ccp messing up the connection..
i just hope that sky (ordered yesterday) use a different set of servers if it is solely an eclipse issue?
oh and roll on my switch to sky..

Originally by: Code Monkey We are currently working on the problem with bulk data download 'stalling' in certain cases, under certain ISP's.
It has been reported that deleting the entire CachedObjects bulk data folder (typically in C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\ccp\EVE\cache\MachoNet\87.237.38.200\180) has helped resolve the issue, forcing a re-download of the entire 2.2MB of bulk data which takes about a minute on a fast connection. If this helps in your case, please let us know.
nope, but then I wasn't even getting that far, it just hangs at the "checking status" bit

I am alsao having the checking status / status unknown issue. Yet I was logged in about an hour ago with no problems. Is the servers having trouble or what?
Now I am just sat at my login screen trying to think about what I used to do that wasnt eve related

its not the servers its your ISP (from what we can tell), I'm guessing your on eclipse or pipex/tiscali etc?

It's almost as if someone flips a switch somewhere at between 1pm and 11pm. Couldn't connect last night at all (didn't try after 8pm). Fine this morning...with two accounts...just when I can't play!! Someone, somewhere must be throttling us back surely
I added a note to that effect to my Eclipse ticket...still no response from them

I was OK last night. I was OK this morning (about 07:30 UK time).
Log-on times, aquiring bulk data times were good.
However it just started working, like someone flipped a switch, as someone else said.
I wonder what it will be like after DT today when I get back home?
I have an open ticket with Eclipse - not a single response. No Email update, the ticket details have not been touched. I logged the ticket at 17:57 on 29/09/2007.
This is disappointing.
