It started off like gangbusters. A recommitment a return to old values that made EVE great. Enthusiasm, activity and involvement with the community and I at least started to play the game again.
Now I'm starting to see some changes. Changes that don't effect me but changes that are developing a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe its the trash CSM talking or maybe it is like a lot of explosive starts that fizzle. To me I'm seeing a return of the mentality that they want to direct our actions as if they are the boss, the 1%ers. Call it balance, call it nerf but someone is being allowed to get their Jollies by shatting on the playerbase again. |

Ask me again in a week.
1.1 comes on the 24th with changes to the UI, changes to Assault frigates.
I missed out on the rose colored glasses they added to the Aurum store and see 2012 as a hard year for EVE and all the old timers. Alot of MMO's are coming out this year. Alot of MMO's that will make these old games look just that, old.
There is no reason to be bored in an MMO and 2012 will test alot of established games. EVE is not exempt. |

I'll judge them on whether they get rid of the Nex Store, either they'll keep it as low profile as possible and hope no one notices when they add items that affect gameplay or they'll finally get rid of it after a long while of arm twisting from the player base. It's not all the other changes that CCP seem resistant on, it's that stupid item shop, I can't believe they still haven't removed it.
If they remove it, then at least some of CCP will have changed, but there are clearly stubborn elements in the company who want to keep that kind of crap going and like showing favourtism to certain groups of players.

Who is being allowed to do what?
There is this old value that made EvE great, called "being able to deal with it" involving the community to team together and smash the face of those nasty 1%ers.

If you reread the minutes, NeX isnt going away but Aurum might be renamed to microplex.
also incarna isnt going away either.
However the next time we see either feature worked on again would be version 1.0 instead of version 0.1b
Also Cruicible 1.1 is just as awsome as crucible 1.0 so I dont see why you're all upset about And TiDi as cool as the feature as been has been well... allowing ccp to see some of the oldest errors in the game happen in real time so I consider it a plus when ccp finally nails the nail on the head of these bugs.

I was reading this thread from three years agohttp://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=905941 and the number of issues there that are still issues or have just been fixed is unbelievable.
The first one about Consensual wars just made me laugh, how something can be a straight up no three years ago when EVE was HTFU and now is yes shows the fundamental( ly flawed?) change in direction of CCP.
Here are some issues from 2008.10.24 see if you recognise any
Consensual wars: No.
Insurance system: CCP Chronotis is currently working on a new insurance system proposal. Once we've tweaked it and are happy with it we'll deploy it.
Coercer and retribution midslot: Could happen some day, currently it is not considered necessary for game balance but that could change.
Local as an info tool: We want to put local in 0.0 as a delayed mode channel so only people who talk in the channel are shown. We are also looking at other alternatives but if we find nothing better this will be put in testing at least.
Cloaking as an iWin button: Sucks, we've discussed changing the cloaking mechanism on non-cloak role ships somehow but haven't really gotten to a conclusion.
Fixing logoffski: We'd love to fix it but it's quite hard to do without starting to get heavy handed towards people who have real disconnects/ctd's/network outages.
UI overhaul: Yes, we are working on that
Website: I have little insight into that actually, I'll ask around to get some solid answers.
Kill blobs: We're always nudging things along to that. We want fleet fights to still happen, we just want to increase the value of smaller more mobile fleets.
Blasters: The balancing team is actually looking at blasterships right now and checking what/if needs changing. What I expressed yesterday was my personal opinion :)
Drake buff: The drake is pretty awesome as is imo, don't think it needs a nerf. But we are of course always looking at things that need balancing so I'm not going to rule it out.
Implants from corpses: I actually want resources for t2 implants (if we do those) to come from biomass. But that wasn't the question :) I think we've actually looked into having implants lootable. I can't remember what came out of that discussion but I'll bring it up again.
Scripts: I think there are absolutely going to be more scriptable modules. We have no plans for rigs/skills that affect scripts at this point.
Isk influx: Yeah, I agree with what you're saying. Losing a ship should hurt the wallet, not just the time it takes to move it. Being able to hurt your opponent financially is something we're fond of and tried to encourage through stations services and placing POS modules outside of the forcefield, but we can do better and we must do better :)
Reducing blobbing: We're looking into ways to introduce a new sov mechanic that would heavily encourage splitting up fleets into smaller gangs. However this is such a volatile subject and we're so early in the process (we're only talking about this so far, no detailed designs or implementation discussions) that I don't want to go into specifics. Rest assured though that if we do change the sov mechanic it will be done with full participation and recognition of feedback from the community.
Low sec: No, not attractive enough, we need to sexify it more :)
FW: I have to divert this question to CCP Greyscale or CCP Ginger
Bounty system: Player bounty right? It sort of works for what it was designed to work. Problem is that isn't a lot. We want to rework this entire system to make it more fun, but it's not at the top of our priority list atm.
Nebula(e): Yes! You will be getting more pretty space!
Mothership balance: I think my personal views on capital ships are well known :) I'd love to fiddle around with this. However that's not my job so I defer this to the balancing team who I believe have some ideas on the subject.
Tactical environments: Yes, still planned, see Fanfest
Module descriptions: Yeah, that's a backburner project for us tbh, we want to pretty up the descriptions of some modules we just never seem to find the time :/
Fleet command ships: We want to make command bonuses grid wide only, but there are some technical restraints we have to figure out first.
Tier system: I'll refer this to CCP Hammer
FW and alliances: Yeah, we're probably going to allow that in some form soon.
risk-reward: I've said above that we want to readjust the risk-reward ratio and have it fit our "most risk most reward - lowest risk lowest reward" mantra.
CSM improvement: I don't know enough about this to answer it. I'll try to get CCP Xhagen or CCP dr.EyjoG to comment on this.
Communication with community: I absolutely think we need to improve player-dev interaction. I'm doing my part right here and I know that others will do the same. More frequent communication (and more open) will show fast results in the level of respect on these boards (both ways).
Static wealth sources: Another one I'm torn on. Scarcity breeds conflict, which is good. But it can also breed a stalemate and become a huge isk injection for a select few. Hopefully the moon issue will be solved soon however.
Joining player corps: We want to improve for example the tutorial system somehow so you learn the value of teamwork in it. That in itself should encourage people to join player corps.
Destructable 0.0 stations: I personally want to see this but it's probably not going to happen further than already is possible with station services.
Overview settings export: Yes, we want to get this in soon, so hopefully we can say first half of next year :)
Fuel bricks: Would love some, thanks.
And plenty more.
The only contact I want to have with eve university is if I can have them all ****** to death by space robo donkeys.

I don't get CCP's focus on the NEX store. The current implementation is intrusive, breaks immersion, and is an unwanted imposition on the in game environment. On the other hand if CCP just canned the in game NEX store and made all of it's functionality available through the account management screen, I think people would be fine with that. Going to an out of game area to get a pair of sunglasses for your character pic = fine, in-game store = bleeding wound. Kill the store, implement customizable ship skins and state that no game play effecting items will be offered through the store would go a long way to healing some of the damage done.
Personally, every time I dock at a station and see the NEX store I wonder WTF I'm doing playing this game. |

And yet, the CSM minutes that just came out say NOTHING of low sec. Go ahead, ctrl+f "low sec," it comes up once as part of a meaningless list that basically states "Low sec a part of the game." Yes CCP, it is a part of the game, a part that has gone on neglected for damn near 5 years. Low sec deserves and needs some serious attention.

Agreed, although there has been some modification and enhancement already in the PI changes.
I suspect many low sec enhancements will come in at the same time as the FW changes. Revenge should not stop at the ship!

Aurum will be used for MT's in Dust. NeX isn't going anywhere. So if it's mere existence and vanity items make you that angry, that sounds like your problem. By your rationale, (using real money to buy stuff is bad) PLEX should be removed as well. That ain't happening. |

personally im cool my nex store button doesn't work, and im not going to bother fixing it anymore, im cool with my current market purchased aurum stuff...
but i believe 2 things, aurum costs go WAY down, a single plex should give you the goggles AND navy shirt at least, AND STILL have some points left over. the other is maybe you could use aurum to buy merchandise, id love to use aurum i acquired in-game to buy a caldari key-chain.
anyways... im looking forward to 1.1, the improved UI should make the game more efficent and game balancing when needed is needed so... |
