Nice to have tons of suggestions, most of them are very good but is any CCP rep actually reading them to put them on a list or something? Looking at some of the threads it seems there is very little official response.

On the flip side, many user suggestions find their way into the game.. so im gonna take a guess that yes, ccp reads these forums.

I've seen ideas posted here put into game also. But turnaround time is usually 6 months or so, and if the devs answered any posts it would be like public favouritism (sp?), and any benefits from someone answering a post with "Ah, but what if..." would be lost as the devs have already indicated they thought the idea is good, or that it sucks and should be ignored

Seriously though, there are a lot of ideas that head on over to the 2nd, nay, even 5th page even before an hour passes. Are you guys certain you read all the good ideas that far in? -

Well, most people aren't that original. The majority of the ideas pop up extremely regularly.
If it's actually original then plenty of people will be praising or flaming it, thus keeping it on page 1.

They read and post alot, but I don't think they want to be quoted on everything they say if it doesn't fall through. Hence they read, absorb and say short nice comments occasionally that are non-committal.

I used to post ideas a fair bit here, and just gave up as no devs seemed even remotely interested - I assumed this was a cob webby corner of the forums....

If you've ever been part of a game-based forum community, you will know that the most effective Devs/Mods are those that read a lot, and post rarely. With a forum community of many thousands of people, thats just how it is.
I personally think that a lot of highly intelligent people work for ccp, and they seem pretty good at filtering the good from the bad on these forums.

Then you write everything down, go to the next meeting and pass all the ideas up as your own

Explains why they have not commented at all. And I do support CCP in them not commenting.

The issue CaptainSeafort referring to, and the thread, did not even get a grunt, much less a post. It is something fairly straight-forward, and something fairly significant for the majority of the EVE community. As such I can understand how he feels.
No one was asking for an extended and verbose comment, but, I think, for threads that have been going on for over a year and are clearly important enough to people so they keep them alive, a Developer's response is not a luxury, it is a "must."
We are all adults, even if sometimes we do not act like ones on the forums, and we would understand a non-comital response from a Dev, it is their job to be careful and not to overexcite the plebs - but, when there is absolutely no response from a developer on a significant game improvement that has a wide support from a wide ranging population segments? Well, that, coupled with the "we read the forum every day" comment, only makes one think that it is being ignored on purpose.
So, I am sorry, even though I would be the first one to jump up and down about "supporting" CCP in almost everything they do, I feel that the particular thread mentioned does need some gold bar love, and a response from a developer in one way or another.
We also know that it might indeed excite the plebs; we know people love jumping on to the gold-barred threads, but they would have to take a risk on that, otherwise it looks like they are trying to keep a low profile on the idea for some reason or another.
Anyway, sorry for being so verbose, I was going to keep quiet till I saw your post, go read the thread CaptainSeafort referring to, first six, seven pages is enough, and I would think you will understand why it is so important to so many in EVE.

Thing is, even if a Dev posts a non-commital post on a idea thread, people go nuts. Once they feel they are getting attention, they feel as if their idea is going to happen even without it being said. Alot of people who post are immature, sitting at work forum fighting instead of doing their job.
Let CCP do theirs, and stop going skitz when they post, and I'm sure they will post more.
