2007.09.29 17:01 The Phoenix Mercenaries has declared war on Zzz. After 24 hours fighting can legally occur between those involved.
The wardec came about within mere minutes of it being spoken about on the EGSEx channel. It is almost certain that it originated from someone there. Having said that, we have gathered intel on the corporation and will not bow down to any of their demands.
The Zzz towers have been reinforced, and the alliance members have been notified. Whilst a good portion of Zzz are alts, there are a large number of mains in there as well.
Any investors in C-R-A in pvp corporations feel free to assist in protecting your investment as we set an example on the perpetrators.
Kind Regards, Ricdic

My corp was wardec'd a few times in the past... and I have absolutely no clue why. Every time the people that war dec'd us ran like little babies when a few of us showed up in the system they were in ready for war. I guess some people actually get scared of a war dec and pay to get it removed? If so it's rather pathetic.

I was really wondering how long it would be before you were Wardec'ed.
When I was renting a research lab from R0me0 (before he turned to the dark side) he was wardec'ed by a competitor to ruin his business. Have you found out who is paying for this?

If I remember correctly these guys wardecced STUFF after it had already closed, nevermind that it was never more than an alt corporation that never undocked.

As far as I know, yes. So I don't understand the point in this at all. Quite costly for no purpose.

Nah, I said it might be me (I think). It's not, anyway. As I said, sarcastically, I don't waste ISK.

I'll leave it up to DS to confirm, but I was indeed one of the last members of STUFF when this wardec hit. Through an alt, ofc. But they're always humorous, even if they fail miserably.

Thats from the Rev 2 Patch notes. I can't confirm that it works that way in practice, but I'd assume POS's are now fair game to war targets.

Interesting. It looks like Ricdic may have to throw up some defenses around the starbases then. On the off chance that the wardec is serious and not someone trying to extort money.

Edited by: Robacz on 29/09/2007 21:23:23 High sec POS are no longer protected if there is a war. So you can grab X battleships and do some highly exciting pew-pew.... for like a half day.
edit: btw Ridic, you should check your POS shields after DT, there is still that annoying bug which weakens your shields during DT. GMs can fix it.

I see their manouver as purely an economic decision. Did they try to 'shake you down' first?

Yeah, my experience is that high-sec POSes can now be attacked without concord intervention. Pretty messy business - bs don't stand up real well to being primaried by a bunch of pos guns. I'd suggest you sling up a bunch of hardeners (so they have to be there all day just to reinforce the pos) plus a neut and some medium guns (larges just won't hit if bs have any sort of traversal speed). Shame you can't use POS gunners in high-sec but hard to see how they can achieve much.
I';d guess this war-dec is NOT from a competitor - it's just not reasonable from a cost perspective. It's either:
1. A merc-wannabe corp trying to extort some cash, 2/ Someone with a personal grudge who doesn't care about getting value for money.

There is no need for large guns in high sec really. Just use some small/medium guns and I doubt you'll see a large enough fleet to bother you much. Though it may be hard to find much free cpu/power if the stations were maxed out on research facilities, which is likely.

I won't post the tower setups here, but mobile labs barely touch any powergrid, so you can fill up the PG with a lot of offensive modules. One lab does need offlining on each tower to allow for the scramblers, webs etc
We have recieved the free support of a pirate corporation who have offered to assist in this endeavour, and a lot of the alliance are rearing to go. It is unlikely they will attempt to attack the C-R-A towers, as doing so would group them together and allow us to strike far easier. I expect the corporation believes they are declaring on us for nothing more than what they think will be free kills.
They cannot profit from the Zzz war declaration, so it is believed that their intent is simply the attack of some 'weak' targets. We look forward to setting them straight in this belief

50 Million for the first alliance war (per week) 100 Million for the second war (per week)

These guys just got done with a wardec on Eve Uni. They just don't have the numbers to take out high sec POSes. If you want the majority of their names, just check the Eve Uni killboard. Most weren't flying Bses.

Fighting them keeps them interested.
Make them pay 50-100m per week to stare at the stations from which you never undock. They'll tire of it quickly. They won't tire nearly so quickly of going up against insurmountable odds; that's a challenge!
