I had to go to bed because I've got a bad cold with massive headaches and all. I gave Cadela my phonenumber and told him to SMS me if anything went pearshaped.
He called me up later, sounded horribly depressed and explained that we just lost our titan. The guy sounded like his favourite kitten had died.

It really is a pleasure to read a thread and find the following:
1. A good, DETAILED, battle report with no smack 2. A bunch of people from BOTH sides replying with no smack 3. The view from the other side, again, with no smack 4. People in the thread that aren't involved asking good questions and/or saying comments that aren't smack.
It's rare these days, reminds me of an earlier time in EVE. Thank you folks for bringing back the good part of 'CAOD', if even for only a few days.

All of this wasn't needed.

After reading all five pages, I cant wait for a video to come out. I've seen pictures with fraps FPS counters in the corner so you know it's coming soon.
Amazing job to both sides. I'm currently out of game training, but it would have been amazing to listen to both side's teamspeak. How much organization and such that has to go into both attacks. Just blows my mind.
Seleene, you must have amazing strength to just sit there and watch your ship die. I don't think I could have. To both Evil Thug and Seleene, I must salute you all for the amazing story. And to both sides, fight on. Hopefully one day we could get better servers to have lag-free fights and really put our skills to the test.
BRAVO!!!! Cant wait for more posts like this, civilized and no side bashing. -------------------------------------------------

The lag at this point was incredible. The Raggy was still on screen with half of the modules missing even though I knew it was dead. You know that awesome state of play when your ship just sits there burning for a while taunting you? Well, after a minute or so I sat back up, found a belt and spammed the warp a few times. After nothing happened for about five minutes I simply logged Thulsa off and continied to listen to TS. Over MSN, Tholariam reported
ôWe are making them pay dearly for thatà if itÆs any comfort.ö
It wasnÆt. My mind was still trying to understand what had just happened.
The next few hours finally presented a clear picture that allowed me to wrap my mind around the loss. You see, IÆm not a covert ops pilot. I never realized that you can actually scan out a super capital in less than 20 seconds with maxed out skills / rigs, etcà IÆm betting there are a lot of people who, before this happened, didnÆt realize it either.
Then there was the matter of the tanked Interdictor. Wow. Who would have seen that one coming?
Over the last couple days, itÆs been very easy now (in hindsight) to understand what happened. It involved no small degree of skill and luck.
There will be no petition of any sort. It was a brilliant level of planning and taking a chance and ETÆs people deserve every accolade given to them for its execution. While obviously IÆm not happy about this, itÆs still a pleasure to have such ruthless enemies in such a complex game. Obviously this sort of thing wonÆt happen again so youÆll have to find another way next time.
A few interesting notes to wrap up:
ThulsaÆs pod actually did warp out to that asteroid belt before I logged him out so heÆs safe and happily flying a Vagabond for a bit.
Through some miracle, the titan wreck lived through the battle. Even more unbelievable was that an MC pilot managed to get to the wreck before anyone else and loot it. Nearly every piece of the shield tank survived (some 8 billion in fittings) along with two of the officer smart bombs.
Nearly all of the loot and salvage from the 14 enemy capital wrecks were donated directly to MC from our allies on the field.
Yes, losing a titan sucks. For some alliances it might be the end. For the MC, itÆs simply a reason to work harder, learn from mistakes and do better. I think our history this year is a testament to that commitment.
The fight goes on, brothers and sisters of EVE. See you in space.
Damn nice writeup there, sir.

I lived the very start of RAT as part of ATUK and enemies from the beginning. I was surprised of how the titan got killed, but after seeing it was planned by RAT/RA, I was no more, as Goons and IAC are nothing unless RA and RAT hit the field.
Good job guys for this kill.
Note : Top class as always ET

Sorry for newb questions but hey it will be years before i can fly one of these...
a) the basic insurance is paid out based on the 'base value' of the ships. Reports have put it at between 14bn nad 18bn isk.
b) MC and The Alliance held the field, looted all and salvaged most of the Titan, 14 capitals and numerous support wrecks.
Talking about it later, someone mentioned that all Seleene/Thulsa had to do was press ctl-Q to get out of that before he was actively agro'd, and that he had plenty of time to do so. The dreads would barely have had time to lock him before he despawned with no agro. THAT needs nerfed. We didn't think of it, wouldn't have done it, but its ridiculous that a well planned and executed gank like this could be avoided so easily.

Yeah, the ctrl-q is still a bit too effective, unless you do it with 1 minute left of your DD's aggro.
Anyway, mad props to both sides
