does ccp lack of visible effort in removing these guys imply it is ok to use macro miner.
does the EvE golden rule "adapt or die" work here. if ccp does not ban macro miner, therefore removing pressure on the cost of macro mining by eliminating the risk of losing your account. does that mean macro mining is a good idea.
this is a logical conclusion and does not pertain to my, my corp's (none), my alliance, my family and/or my dog's opinion regarding the use of macro miner.
but really, if you cant beat them, and CCP wont beat them then why not join them.
also high sec suicide attack should have 5x sec stat lost. i mean its high sec.
on an unrelated note, do people use self destruct a lot. when i get jumped by piwate i normally just turn it on immediately then try to fight them off. if i cant i just stall till my ship blows and drops nothing or if i win then i will just turn it off.

Ive seen amny macro programs on ebay even, it seems eve does nothing to attempt to prevent people from selling macros.

Honestly, what can CCP do to stop people from selling these programs on ebay as you mentioned? The program itself is not illegal. The use of it is not illegal. All it does is make you breach the eula when you use it in combination with EVE online! Which by the way is not illegal either by law.
All CCP can do is to close down their account when they have enough evidence on this program have been used or being used.

That is a point of discussion, AFAIK. The EULA isn't very clear on that - IIRC, as long as you only simulate real-time key clicks, the macro isn't against the EULA. Whyever that may be... -------------------------------------------------- I'm a rich person. How I know? I can afford to be a miner. |

Probably because automated key clicks are impossible to distinguish from keyboard macros as supported by many gaming keyboards like the Logitech G15. CCP can't really do anything until they detect that either the player has actively hacked into the datastream, modified the client, uses an entirely different client or can be proven to have responded to the game while the client ran unattended (leaving the game unattended while something is running itself isn't against the EULA as any indy miner can testify to).

they should contact ebay, since ebay have removed all isk sellers and other ingame item sellers from the site as they are illegal.

Yanno, now that you mention it, if CCP are this slow to ban sellers, how much harder must it be to ban private macros? The transactions will be smaller and more focused, thus looking just like an alt rather than a seller, and so drawing little attention.
Ah well, lets hope they can keep making it harder for macros to be worth it (forcing scanning for belts etc)

CCP simply do not have the resource or means to police this effectively, therefore making the question of legality a mute one. Macro mining has been in EVE since its conception, and there is no evidence of CCP getting a grip on it in all those years.

you wont get caught though, and CCP aint enforcing any laws on macro, so yeah, basically, go wild! no-one is watching anyhow. just you on your own especially: CCP lets thousands of macro courier missioners do their thing, be it for ISK selling or alliances, so why would they bother about your macro hulk sucking at a veldroid?
yeah, it sucks, but then.... we all know don't we. not like anything is changing. ----------------------------------------------- "post with your main. delete your alt, you sad little exploiting metagamer."

If some of those macros on ebay work as advertised it isn't really anything CCP can do to even detect them unless they consider anyone logged in 23/7 to be a macro.
Wouldn't surprise if they do nothing but collecting your username and password though.

That translates to:
Quote:
Make it harder for everyone playing the game without macros, as the macro-users won't really be bothered by it, they'll simply adapt their macro and be done with it.
Trying to hurt macro-users only cripples real players, who could circumvent the crippling but decide they'd rather play the game as intended. -------------------------------------------------- I'm a rich person. How I know? I can afford to be a miner. |
