Was fixing my mother in law's laptop, I'm posting on it now.
I'm looking for a tablet like the Ipad. I'm looking for a tablet which is at least 9 inches in screen size. I saw the samsung galaxy tablet was only 7 inches so I wouldn't consider that as I feel that is too small.
Anyone have a great fast tablet out there? |

newegg has this ipad clone for 200 bucks. 2 gigs vs ipad's 16gigs storage. Otherwise looks interesting. |

I'm not very experienced with Android, but there are lots of versions. Unless you're certain you want Froyo you might consider the more popular Gingerbread. Just for the sake of support and familiarity. Newegg 200-300 price range has two similar models with that OS under $250, with similar processors, and larger screens.
I don't understand the pad craze. It's a low end PC that's priced high for it's power, meant for travel but without being ruggedized, meant for portability but still big, and meant for ease of use with the ergonomics of -literally- a stone tablet, and everyone always talks about size, but it has no keyboard so that has to take up screen space or you have to carry one around.
What in the world do you DO with a tablet PC that you'd carry it instead of a laptop or good cell phone/PDA? |

For my gf its about screen size, she has the iphone with extremely fast internet but the ipad is easier to see and thus browse. For me its about weight, my laptop is I think about 6 pounds and the ipad is 1.3 pounds. Its light and also the battery lasts alot longer than my laptop which stopped holding a charge some time ago.
I like the Apad/Epads myself but people don't have confidence in off brands.
My gf bought the ipad to try out and its fine but the model ipad2 we have only has internet through wifi.....so for me, the ipad without internet turns it into a paperweight.
Its just nice to have a lightweight browser to have handy. |

Might I put forward this as a suggestion:
Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime
Its an Android tablet with a detachable keyboard dock. Ignore the silly Amazon price - in the UK its about -ú500 if you poke around. Its a new model and if you believe reviews etc its a dam good machine, there are known issues with the GPS and some countries have Wi-Fi issues too (not the UK though) - note issues, not complete and utter failure.
There is also an older version of the transformer which will be cheaper if price is an issue. |

This detachable keyboard is full of win. It is like the best parts of both a netbook and a tablet.
I am currently using a donkey's old RMtab-910. It has a p3 in it. I am tempted to switch to the ipad2 that is sitting on top of my wardrobe in a box that technically belongs to my other half. If i could get a transformer I would do so but i'm a bit skint. |

Typing this with my Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G atm. :-)
Tln+¢dr version...
Sexy, light, and entertainment tablet? Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Verizon 4G version if for internet anywhere. Best wifi only and Utility tablet? Asus EEE transformer. The new successor is the Asus EEE Transformer Prime, i would look into this if I were you. Crap tablets? Anything from apple made.
Long version? See and read below!
Liking it, but verizon is soooo ******* slow with the update. I think everyone just got 3.2 OS update a mont ago and still waiting for Ice Cream Sandvich update. Been an owner of one since august 29 when it was available for verizon 4g.
Good amount of battery time, but it does depend on usage. My tablet last around 15 hours. Constant usage and apps loaded is around 6-9 hours.
I use my tablet to watch some shows, but still no Hulu plus :-( beside entertainment, I use it for travels, email checking, and HEAVY use with Evernote app for my classes, and listening to music while exercising.
I was very close to get asus EEE transformer, but in the end, I need internet whenever I go. If its just home usage, I higly recommend Asus EEE. Similar power and performance, but the dock has additional battery and it can last 50% or more on battery. Not only that, it has more "essential" ports, like usb and microsd card ports (again, the dock also got and add more ports), which my tablet lacks :-(
So yeah, Galaxy Tab 10.1 is equal or slightly better than Ipad2, so it had potential to be the top tablet in the market, until Asus EEE prime tranformer came up to the field.
Note, unless you want non verizon/4G tablet oppose to mine, then yeah, go for it. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 have the Ice Cream Sandvich update. |

What in the world do you DO with a tablet PC that you'd carry it instead of a laptop or good cell phone/PDA? I have an asus transformer. Beats the ipod in every single spec, runs flash, and has a built in SD card slot. 32gb internal storage.
Cost 449.99. Better than the Ipad in every way... costs way less.
Anyways, what do I do with it? I use it whilst sitting on the throne. I use it while stuck in bed for "us time" with the woman while she watches teen mom. I bring it along when I know I am going to be stuck waiting. It is much more portable than a big laptop, while a netbook is awkward. I know this, because I also have an asus netbook. I can sit down and watch netflix, youtube, whatever if I have wireless. Or play GTA 3 (tegra 2 graphics) if I don't. It is much quicker to grab that than fire up a laptop, or turn on the computer if I want to look something up.
Did I mention it is a great tool to avoid watching Teen Mom?
And @ the guy above me. You can get a transformer with cell connectivity. They have ports inside them to accept the module. You just have to order it specifically. |

God I wish I could get something like that I could program on instead of carrying around my laptop everywhere. http://youtu.be/yytbDZrw1jc |
