I was thinking the other day about possible new ships for EVE, and I am pretty sure this has been thought of I have just never seen a post about it.
I have seen a lot of peoples opinion on making the fleet command ships, ship models that of the tier 2 BC's, but I thought about it and figured, why do that when you can take the tier 2 BC's and make a whole new Tech II ship out of them.
for example, the Celestis plays the role of the Lachesis and the Arazu, as same with other Recons, Thorax plays the Deimos, Vexor plays Ishtar. All these things people know, So it seems every ship model plays its own tech II role, all except the Covert Ops, but they are still pretty much two different class's, purposes varying very differently from each other.
I figured I would just throw this idea up and wait for some opinions on it, and i still haven't thought of a name for them, or what kind of role they would play, or even if there were a module set they would specialize in. I want to see peoples ideas basically, and maybe soon after some much needed deliberation I will state something I think they should be, but it is kinda hard to figure out a new role. hurricane-sleipnir(shield tanks though). harb-absolution. myrm-eos. drake-both of them really...

If such a ship was ever seeded, I would train for it right away. I make a habit of picking up ducks whenever I can, preferably in dungeons.

Erm there is a logistics cruiser that does not take much less time than a command ship to train. ---------------------------------

Which Logistic cruiser might that be? The only 4 I know require just over 2 mil SP and an Astarte for example is over 5 mil?

i always thought it would be amazingly cool if there were a t2 BC or maybe even BS that had smartbomb bonus (i.e. friendly target recognition so it doesnt kill neutrals or gang) or mebe the t2 Harb, hurri, drake & myrm could have bonuses like a stealth bomber, but actually have a capable tank and no cloak bonus. I think itd be super cool to use torps on a BC, itd be an awesome anti BS ship.

8/5/2 is pretty damn terrible considering the T1 variant is 8/6/4 and is built specifically to be an awesome tank. You'd think the T2 variant would follow up with that and take it in a slightly different direction not completely screw the ship over. 8/5/2 is pretty damn terrible considering the T1 variant is 8/6/4 and is built specifically to be an awesome tank. You'd think the T2 variant would follow up with that and take it in a slightly different direction not completely screw the ship over. Take a look at the rook it's 6/7/2.
But can you imagine a Nighthawk with 7 or 8 mids?
Nah think 5 or 6 is reasonable... 7 or 8 a bit too much...

I actually think a smartbomb ship would be pretty neat tbh, maybe give the secondary ship skill to fly it bonus's like,
60% per level to Smartbomb optimal range, and 20% per level to smartbomb damage.
But through all this give it a limited amount of highs just so it cant spam everything, in the end result here a Plasma Smartbomb II would have 280 thermic damage and a 16km range, thats with skill at five. maybe a max of 4 highs. I haven't thought of the mids or lows yet, but you would probably have a reasonable amount of mids to compensate for the cap loss. NIIIIIIIIIIIICE!! |
