Eight hours is definitely not always enough time to prepare for war. Plenty of people sleep eight hours or more, and if you base your wardec timing on the main location of the corp/alliance you're deccing, they'd all wake up to being at war.
Just one simple reason. There's a ton more, of course. PLACE SIGNATURE HERE What?! [Insert event here] happened? Quick, start a new thread on the forums! "Moot", not "mute". |

It has to account for people in different timezones, or people who can't be online all day. Not much more to say, really.
2: Yes
If the CEO has more than 50% shares, the war dec vote is nothing more than a formality. I don't think it's intended to add more time on to the war dec process when the whole corp wants the war, so maybe this should be changed. ---------------------------

No. 8 hours is not enough. Someone could war-dec me in the morning when I'm at work / college / out, and when I come back, I'm free-game.
24 hours is fine, stop being impatient.
However! Votes should be passed instantly if 100% of the shareholders agree. ---

No, unless someone can give a good reason for it being 8 hours instead of 24. Which, based on the responses so far, isn't going to happen. ---------------- Tarminic - 29 Million SP in Forum Warfare |

Reasoning: War decs are too long yes, but at the same time you most allow for TZ differences, lowering it to 12 HRs is the lowest I'd suggesat, 15 is about what it should be though

All votes, not just war-decs, should finish instantly as soon as more than 50% of the shareholders agree. There really is no point in keeping the vote going when the outcome is really decided.
And i have to disagree with the 8h war-dec, a 24h dec makes sure everyone across all timezones have advanced warning and are not caught by surprise.

If you think 8 hours is "more than enough time for people to get prepared," I think you need to get some sleep/a job/a life. As for 2 I don't really care.

Need to account for real life issues for both you and the target so TZ, work, school ect need to be considered 24 hours should allow people of all situations at least some time to prepare.
2 Yes
Don't see why not, if the vote is guaranteed to be a yes then I don't see any problem with skipping it. ------------

could be. lol or it could just be a whole corp of people who like muffins alot and move from game to game together. either way its lol. they dont seem to give any reasoning to their votes though. so Alt likelyhood rises.
Seems to me ur just all up and annoyed because you cant kill people who have had no preperation.... so you want easy kills. abit like people who lure newb corp people out to them with the promises of help to kill em... thats not pvp... thats just lame. ------------------------------- Here comes the sig.............

Everyone can have a vote, alts included. When everyone is finished voting and debating CCP gathers all the votes and takes a big ol'crap on them and does what it was going to do anyway. So yea, corpmates can have a vote too. |
