Im pretty digusted with a small minority of the player base at the moment who seem to think that armageddon day is a license to do or say anything they want on the forums. Just because you think its funny and "no big deal" doesn't mean other people do not find it offensive.
I have seen in the space of 2 hours stuff that would in other circumstances have got you banned for life (in any game) including links to explicit ****, trolling, spam of the worst kind, and even blackmail with a hint of anti-sematism.
I really hope CCP takes some time out to trace the alts/trial accounts and ban your ass from a game that you obviously like to play but have absolutly no regard for the other players.

ôWar is not the dreadful end to all things as mankind fears. Conflict brings balance to nature as it adapts, mutates, and transforms itself into something stronger than before. Mankind is the master of nature because we can choose those mutations on our own accord. We can accelerate the inevitable dominance of a species. Through war, we can make ourselves stronger at the time and place of our choosing. War is not hell, far from it. War is beautiful. War is divine.ö - Grand Admiral Mekioth Sarum, excerpt from a commencement speech to Paladin graduates of the Imperial Academy, 23215 AD |

Edited by: Jedek on 16/10/2007 13:06:52 While there has been a lot of spamming, I think a lot of this is coming off of good natured fun. With a thousand or more in queue people need stuff to do and thankfully (or not) the forums are here. Let people have their day, and try to enjoy it. If the amount of spam bothers you take a day off from the boards, after today is over things will go back to normal.

Good,
I just felt I had to openly voive my disgust. Im sure they think when they get warned/banned its just CCP being "duds" and we the players find it halarious. Well I don't think it is and the sooner those ppl realise its not socially acceptable the better.
They're places for that kind of spam.

I've stopped myself twice now from altering the posting procedure to automaticly ban anyone who creates a new topic.. just so Hutch can get a new monster-mug of coffee. Then I logic enters my world again and keeps telling me that would probably do more harm than not. Damn logic, ruins all my best ideas.

Yeah but people dont know where the line is unfortunately, or how to be a considerate forum user.
Quick guide.
Fun = Funny images, the odd rickroll, creative use of smileys, jokes, discussions.
Annoying = quoting quotes of quotes, posting offensive links, images, quoting funny images just to reply with lol, making 5 page long posts of a blank space, spamming a single word for a very long post.
About half the replies in the armageddon thread are delete worthy yeah.

Ignoring the fact that you'd probably have to make a posting to announce the changes thus defeating yourself in the process.

Is anti-sematism worse than anti-dentite-ism?
Someone needed to be a drama queen. Only thing you needed to do is petition and leave it at that.

Nah Winter, I'm evil, not daft. I'd just auto append something like "I have now been automaticly banned for 20 minutes due to the insane probability that I just posted something about the Armageddon Day outside the stickied topic."

Can we get some stats at the end of the day, like number of people perma-banned for posting "adult only content" ? There's some links over there I only clicked out of morbid curiosity, and I must say even if I'm not easily shocked or disgusted, some of it rocked my yuck-o-meter badly. _

Given the history of the forums, every single person. :)

Ahh, just make that a feature of the auto-ban. Saves you five seconds of typing which translates to a massive increase in productivity which CCP can then credit back to me for suggesting the feature in the first place.

Meh. Antisemitism is everywhere. Especially the boards, today... Now, before you jump the gun on this and make any accusations or banzor or whine, let me explain something:
I'm a Jew. I work for a bank (I'm in IT, not banking, however). I happen to enjoy eating bagels. They are a tasty treat. I get heat for it all. day. long.
The best thing to do when confronted with stupidity is to ignore it and move on. As a Jewish person living in a very Christian city that leans heavily to the Christian right, I see it every day, all day long. People don't even realize what they are saying. They are simply taught that it's okay around here.
While it remains wildly inappropriate, the best way to handle it is to just not let it get to you. Everyone hates us. It sucks. It just seems to be how it works.
Their /fail for being ignorant.

Had enough of what? So the amrageddon thing didn't go according to plan, but what else do we have to complain about - I mean seriously complain about?
For the money I pay to play EVE would buy me two magazines a month, which would provide me with no where near the amount of entertainment. (Rr maybe I buy the wrong kind of magazine...? )
Do I get value for money? Yes. Do I think CCP are doing a great job all things considered? Yes. Do I feel let down by CCP? No.
Talk is cheap and I would prefer it if those that don't feel that they're getting what they deserve would vote with their feet and walk away.
I for one haven't had enough. I want CCP to continue doing exactly what they're doing now because I dont think there's many companies that can achieve what CCP have in their respective marketplace.

CCP tries to go the extra mile and give you something to entertain yourselves with during the extended downtime, what do they get in return? A **** storm of whining 14 year olds. Classy. ---------------
