Mega and abaddon are 2 different ships:
1 mega is a ship thought to be fast, needed to get in range of the enemy, that deals a lot of damage and that has to resist a under the enemy fire right the time until it get near the enemy.
Does it fill his role well? Someone says it's a bit hard to fit, but it is VERY effective in dealing damage and getting your enemy in optimal.
Is it useful? Sure. Nowaday the speed is everything, and getting under your enemy and rip through his armor fast is good.
2 abaddon is a ship though to deal good damage or tank pretty well. Or do both discretely by using pulses. It has no mobility but it's hard.
Does it fill his role well? As every amarr ships suffer greatily from cap issues meaning you usually get a gimped setup or run out of cap very fast. If you are skilled enough to have a decent setup and a good cap it really has a very good tank while dealing decent damage to enemys. Still i have got bs to 5 and all support skill (nevigation, armor, and cap) maxed and i'va got hard fight with average players on t1 domi or raven.
Is it useful? No. In fleet it is not much more useful than apoc, i think they got both upside and downside but are almost equal. In gang it is too slow unless you fit an mwd. oh wait.... In missioning you do not have enough cap. And i still wonder why would anyone would do missions with an amarr ships.
In the end.. abaddon is a good ship but as most amarr ships they are useless. Name an amarrian ship and i'll find one that can fill that role better.

my fault obviously capital ships are not included as jump drives and all that stuff make pos warfare and capital use all another kind of game.
and they're not anywhere better than others capital (except minmatar but that has been fixed or is going to be fixed soon if i remeber well)
