Yes I come from WOW and I do not plan to go back.
However, when something unexepected happens there (and in other mmorpgs i have played) you usually get compensation in form of playtime.
Have I missed any threads or info or are the eve population just a bunch of sheeps that accept paying 10euro month regarding if service is up or not? Please enlighten me. Cheers

15 euro per month actually if in the EU, 15 USD otherwise (or if you buy GTCs from outside the EU). And yes, other than a mass of whines for a couple of days, a 9 hour downtime is taken surprisingly lightly, for other non-EVE players. _

"LOL" comes to mind first.... but on a non-sarcastic note: There will be no compensation as you call it. This sort of thing has happened in the past and will definitly happen in future, there's no way to predict this and all CCP can do is fix it. I think their form of compensation is 1) fix it asap and 2) give us free expansions on regular basis. On a legal note: this is even covered in the contract you aggreed upon joining Eve.

Ok, I'll enlighten you: The Eve population is, for the most part, mature enough to accept that problems occur with computers sometimes, and not to whine and cry and demand things on the forums every time it happens.
Happily, the cretins who come and demand things on the forums every time there's a bit of downtime are pretty rare, and they usually get flamed back to wherever they came from.

considering the amount of times dt has ended early and they haven't charged us more, it's abit cheeky to ask for freebies when they were locking stuff down to ensure the health of the game and it's customers.

I remember on patch in AC where the server went totally nuclear was was down 3 days, we got mini pets for that, that was our compensation.
or you could look at your 2 week trial with no cc required for eve as your compensation.

Edited by: Commander Prishe on 20/10/2007 10:05:43 I totaly agree with the original poster.
Most other MMORPGS (even free ones) offer some form of compensation "ingame event" to there "paying customers". They may not have to offer anything according to there terms of agreement but its a nice gesture.
9 hours downtime you say? no compensation event? I wasnt even playing that day, but I am disgusted that they dont care or are to lazy to implement some form of compensation.
Examples of which could be:
Double pirate bounties for a few days Skill points accumulate twice as fast for a few days Some ingame "easter egg" event (these are common in most mmorpgs regularly without downtime)
Been playing for 4 months now and ive not seen a single ingame event scheduled for everyone to enjoy, except for that tournament thing but that was for the elite select few who could participate.

People don't ask compensation for the moneyz, they ask it for a few reasons:
- To get CCP to admit they messed up. - To get the feeling they are somehow important. - To feel they "are in charge".
Silly reasons, i know, but people are this way.
I don't care for any compensations, it changes nothing, with or without it i'll still be playing those 8 hours more when my subscription runs out in 2167.

of course not, he said he came from WoW. he's expecting eve to be another cookie cutter generic MMORPG where everyone does what blizzard does, because they're "the best". pfft.
when wow does it's weekly maintenance or a patch day, you lose the server for the whole day. eve is much more stable, and this downtime was caused by someone accessing a security breach in the database, you want to get angry at someone? get angry at the jerk who ruined the game for you and everyone else. ========================================== Iy

La dim di dum...and we call ourselves civilized and adult? The "better" MMO?
Naughty naughty. Let's not throw assumptions and accusations where they are not needed/true.
The EULA etc are almost identical, except even rougher, on Blizzard games. WOW DT is once a week, in the nighttime.

I think it¦s interesting with some people stating that "you loose 9 hours out of 700 that youhave each month big deal".
What they are not thinking about is this:
*Some people have jobs. *Some people have limited time to play eve. * We all are paying for the possibility to play eve whenever we want during the month except the daily downtime.
So we are not paying for the 700 hours or so we can play, we are paying for the possibility to play whenever we want during that month.
If the possibility is taken away it should be "reimbursed" or compensated.

Check the agreement we ALL signed(and some should read) and you'll notice that isn't exactly true.
You don't pay to play whenever you want.
You pay for the ability to play, WHEN the servers are up.
IT is stated clearly there, that at any time, for any reason, they might take the servers down or EVEN cut the service completely without any compensation.
You agreed to this.
