To alleviate traffic in tade hubs, shouldn't Interbus be finally activated on a constellation level?
E.g. you buy something in a different system in the same constellation, you can pay 10-20% to have it transported to your current station?
The fee could be adjusted by your standings to Interbus and/or trade skills.
It would not kill player courier contracts, as the fees are pretty high and you couldn't use it between constellations or regions.
You could make it more interesting by having Interbus convoys travel between systems according to player orders, and have them attackable by other players like current NPC convoys. Perhaps introduce transport insurance for more isk-sinking goodness.

Constellation level sounds good, not more range than needed, if it's high sec only. If it was really an attackable npc convoy, I wouldn't mind it delivering to low sec too.

No. Set contracts. Where there is something to move then someone will eventually move it.

Edited by: Kerfira on 20/10/2007 20:58:26 Lots of reasons not to.....
1. It WOULD kill contracts! It'd provide the same service, but without any of the uncertainties. 2. Unless it's INSTANT, it'd not be used by anyone. People want their stuff NOW, which is why they fetch it personally! 3. However, IF it is instant, contracts would be even more dead!
If Interbus was implemented, it should have no advantages above player couriers. Ie., the Interbus convoys should be attackable (with the goods being transported lost for the person owning them if an attack is successful), Interbus should probably be war-dec'able, and furthermore delivery time should be between 1 and 7 days (random)..... Only way to not kill the courier profession, but the problem with that is balancing the combat part. Since they'd be NPC's, players would pretty quickly find out how to abuse the system.....
PS: If you offer DECENT prices to couriers, your stuff WILL be transported reasonably fast. 50k ISK per jump is not decent....

CCP please NEVER EVEN CONSIDER adding something like this.
This game is about being player run. Having NPCs doing jobs for you destroys that. Goodbye to teamwork and planning once you start implementing things like this. Logistics are on of the things that seperate the top players from the poor. Circumventing things like that turn this than nothing more into some other minless button mashing mmo.

I like the idea, it would make a another nice station tab. Select start point, select items, select end point. Have a base charge per jump and then add a tax on unit base price. The tax amount could be alleviated by good standing w/ Interbus. The base charge should stay the same no matter the distance. The service should take a decent amount of time per jump, say 2 hours.
By making it take more time and money, would still keep courier contracts viable. And I would use it to move stuff 1-2 jumps from Jita and then haul myself.
By adding attackable convoys and insurance, would just add more whine and complaints. "OMG, that noob in a mission whoring Raven popped my convoy with my uber ISK value stuffs," said the forum whiners. Also, "Too many chars in noob corps making 1337 ISK with no risk by popping convoys with my loot," said the hardcore pwnmobiles. Finally, "EVE is brokt, the insurance did not cover the loss of my goods, reimburse me or I will close all 23 accounts and then my 42 friends will quit also," said the chicken char that has been in a noob corp for 4+ years.

Interbus delivery would be an awesome feature if it worked much like ye old train stations.
1 delivery from each system to its constellation neighbors each day at a specified and publicly known time. Moves all items ordered that day via NPC convoy with perhaps a police escort. These convoys are treated like normal convoys, that is to say no Concord or additional police spawn when you attack them. And allow delivery into low-sec. ____
