Hey guys,
I just got into my Hulk tonight finally after a long hard period of training. Seeing as this is the ultimate mining ship, I would like to purchase rigging for it, to make it as effective as can be. I was leaning towards resistance rigs, one EM and one Thermal, giving me 60%+ on all shield resists (exhumers III). However, I could get two capacitor control cicuits, so I can take off my eutectic cap recharger and add another shield resistance amplifier. I do plan to start mining in low sec areas with my corp, and I need to keep this is mind while buying rigs. Would it be wise to sacrifice some armor for a faster getaway? Any input would be great guys.

Where are you mining? Lowsec? 0.0?
If it's 0.0, I would recommend polycarbons/agility rigs, so you can turn and warp to a POS when reds enter the system. If they get to you and lock you down, it won't matter how good your resists are. Using the setup in Halada's guide, you should be able to tank most rats. If you're still having trouble, train up Exhumers 4 or 5, get a better shield booster, or train up more shield skills.

I am not worried about tanking rats, I am currently mining in Empire until we start venturing out/and or move to low/null sec. The hulk does have a long warp time so cutting that down and staying alligned would let me get away quickly. If I am mining in low/null sec, I will have anti-pirate protection, and in empire its not even a concern. At the moment leaning towards improving agility/mass, thanks for the help

I use two cargohold optimisation rigs.
If I can't mine with an alt to haul I can stick on two expanded cargo IIs and then use GSCs to get roughly 20k m3 (or about 17k without GSCs) of cargo space. It is much slower but you can mine solo easily without using a jetcan and there is no risk of ore theft either. |

If its empire mining
Stick 2x Mining upgrade 2's in, and 2x Mining drone rigs
To be able to fit that you need the Mining Upgrade and relevant rig skill to lvl4 |

I really am not a big fan of the mining drones, I would need to train the respective skills up pretty high to get the most use out of them, and unless I am hugging an asteroid, the travel time cuts their yeild/hour down significantly.

ccc's? sorry new at this. I like the idea of cargo rigs, and 2 cargo II's for empire mining. hate going back and forth. i woyuld think this is most efficient. low secing..i've never done that ...need to find a good mining corp.

Link to this guide? I'm confused what shield mods I should fit in meds, hardeners/boosters/extenders or the like, not really into shields. --------------------------

Exhumer skill have nothing to do with shield resists.

If you don't have to worry about dying to players/npc's I would put in cargo rigs. I hate having to manage a hauler alt or hire a corp mate to come help =\ ---

I think I might go with the expanded cargo-hold rigs because they seem the most practical, and will let me solo-mine should I not be able to use a jetcan. Also, I dont plan on tanking anything larger than a cruiser so my current tank is more than adequate.

i've been thinking about rigs too. with my current setup in 0.0 I dont have cap, cap recharge, or power issues and jet can mine using t2 strips and mlu ll's.
I wouldn't recommend shield rigs as it increases your signature radius and from what i've seen BS sized rats primarily damage me with missles and whiff on almost all gun shots and I just sit there floating about. I actually see more red in my shields if the whole spawn are BC size and smaller otherwise it heals as fast as i take damage. If your using dampening amplifiers like me, you really have no cap issues at all, with a shield booster always running, I am at about 70% cap. If i use dampening fields I sat at about 40%. My primary resistance is 89.2% with the amplifer and 91.4% with the dampener and I saw no difference. I do plan on learning <xxx> Shield Compensation at some point to boost it up later on, but more for when I start ratting.
I was hoping for drone damage rigs but it looks like they only work on sentry drones. I am considering targetting rigs because my current targeting range is 23km and if a BS spawns further out, I cant get my drones to attack it without getting out of the range of my can . I'm told t2 medium drones can kill a BS, takes along time but I aint going anywhere. I figure if I can drop a million bounty rat and just farm em as they respawn, it more than makes up for not using mining drones and it allows me to kill rats that warp scramble. In a few weeks, i'll be able to test up the drone theory of killing BS and ill get targetting to about 4 to see if i need rigs or not to reach out and touch em.
Hrmm, was thinking about your cap recharge rig instead of a eutectic and it got me thinking, i might be able to fit a mwd or ab on this sucker to help me warp out or move close to a roid a tad faster, hrmmmmmm. hehe
