Edited by: XNCReman on 23/10/2007 07:07:16 We need to start an ebil campaign to stop WoW players from coming to EVE. Why?
The cruel nature of eve is not working, its failing to Harden them or make them quit the game.
Instead they are whining on EVE-Online forums about not being able to gank a solo carrier, even when they had more fire power. Discourage WoW players from playing EVE to reduce the amount of ******** nerf, stemmed from their *****ing.

I say we need to encourage *more* wow players to come over to eve.. Lots of potential mules and cannon fodder is always a good thing..

Funny story.
A friend of mine plays WoW, and I suggested that she try Eve. She just looked at me and said, "I heard people in Eve are mean!"
I suggest that we start a counter-attack. We all get WoW forum accounts and spam Blizzard's forums with whines and garbage. That way, WoW will get easier, and no carebears will ever think of leaving it.

No. A lot of WoW players come to EvE and find that it's not what they expected, or that what they thought they wanted wasn't really what they wanted. But some like it and stay - I've seen some very well respected players say that they started out in WoW.
Rather than tell WoW players to stay out, we should encourage them to join EvE University (or similar) so that they can make the transition between game styles and love EvE for what it is rather than resent it for not being what it's not supposed to be.
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

Eve being mean or not, is indeed a very subjective thing.
I assume that the difference between EVE and WoW regarding loss handling / death is what makes players migrating from WoW think that EVE is a harsh and mean world.
However I agree with some people here that we should encourage players to try EVE and see if the game pleases them with the different approach. And we should encourage them to change to save their souls apparently... ;)

hi,
i'm skuko. i am 27 years old and i have played wow for over 2.5 years. it is not a bad game, if you like PvE and have a good party of friends liking the same. i tried to play eve three times in the last two years, but gave up after a month (all three attempts).
since wow gave me no more fun, i ditched it for good (i hope) and returned to eve, determined of what i want, and not willing to give up.
see? not all coming from wow are stupid whiners and idiots. (at least i don;t think i am). i love the game so far and and i'm going to enjoy it to the fullest (as soon as i finish training the damn learning skills).
my message to all wow whiners: find some friends to play, chat, hang out in the game with, forget all the shiet and have fun. :)

I play both WoW and EVE.
WoW is good at some things that EVE isn't, and EVE is good at some things that WoW isn't. I play WoW for the PvE, amazing polish, regular patches and fixes (EVE's bugfix team could learn a LOT from WoW) and superb UI. I play EVE for the great PvP mostly.
If you're too biased and blinkered to recognise that WoW and EVE are both just games with their own strengths and weaknesses then that's your problem really.
Honestly posts attacking WoW and WoW players, posted on a forum of a different game just smack of childishness really.

Hey folks, 3 year old (i guess that's when the EU beta started) wow hardcore raider finally canceled my account since blizzard turned wow into a softies game. What used to be hard a 5 year old can now handle while picking his nose.
What there is in wow are: Hardcore/fanbois that will never quit Hardcore raiders, these guys quit allready and / or are sticking around to chat with old friends. This group has allready joined eve. Softcore, still sticking to the game. Early days "softcore", this group is nowadays the hardcore of wow or have just quit, these are the ones joining eve now complaining. ****heads This is the kind of group that you don't want in your game, but wow's clogged with them for the brand "blizzard" and "warcraft"

Which is really funny to me. This is the only real MMORPG I've ever played, and when I first started playing last fall my first reaction, when I realized you get insurance payments for your ships and you have a "clone" so your character never really dies, was: "Damn, this is lame. Losing doesn't mean much in this game."

Don't be so daft, this is like saying you need to shoot all 18 year olds to prevent them getting from getting into your fav pubs.
People grow up and move on, if ya shoot all the 18 your olds ya'll never get a decent 30 your old out of them, who you like to share a drink with.
People play WOW because they like it (ahem) or because they haven't discovered eve yet and moved on, but give 'em a chance.

Little do you know that CCP are 1 step ahead of you,... The lag in Jita is synthesized, as WoW players join eve and get back to what they know, living in the Auction House, and grinding gold to get gear, to get gold faster, to get better gear, to get gold faster, to..wait for a patch with better gear.

Thanks to the wonders of dual core processing, I play Eve and WoW simultaneously.
It's the best of both world's: The mind-numbing grind of WoW coupled with the tedium of slowly wearing down 1.25m rats in a Drake

I hate to say it, but I found npcing in WoW less boring and mind numbing than in eve. (But I think that's a good thing)

Almost anything npc related in eve sucks big time. That's why I'm completely sworn off any kind of ratting or mission running. I will never do it again. And thanks to my skills on the market, I don't have to.

Edited by: Squatdog on 23/10/2007 08:53:09 Leveling in WoW bores me to death and I've always disliked the way you're forced to follow a certain path via artificial limitations ie: if you want to kill a mob 4 levels higher than you, every other hit will be 'glancing' and only do a fraction of the damage, making that mob twice as hard to kill as one only 3 levels higher...
With Eve, you're given the freedom to do whatever you want and face actual consequences for screwing up, instead of just respawning at the nearest graveyard.

This is allmost a brillent idea, except for one thing...
It would involve playing wow
Normaley (ie: regarding eve) i would pop myself in the mouth for saying this but... can we like.. get macros or something so we can corrupt wow without actuley playing it? -

That would be akin to trying to shut down a landfill by intentionally throwing your coffee container into it every day. WoW has literally 10,000+ absolute trash posts per day. If the entire Eve subscriber base pitched in all on the same day, WoW might notice, otherwise it would be business as usual.

Edited by: Susan Acid on 23/10/2007 09:52:38 Why on earth would you want to stop CCP getting more paying customers?
You are deluded if you think people whining about nerf this nerf that have all come from WoW.
The problem with Eve is people like the OP who think it makes them tough 'cos they play an internet spaceship game called Eve.
Eve is a niche game.WoW is mainstream.Just compare subscription figures.
ps I have never played WoW
I have noticed that as the player base grows bigger(in Eve) there are more whines. So more people=more whines irrespective of what games they have come from.
