Well, _very_ interesting ships.
I belive Maurders will become the mission runners ship of choice from now on, what with the interesting selection of high slot bonuses. An interesting side effect of this may be to bring back the use of the smart bomb, as the pressure on high slots has been reduced on these ships.
The Black Ops ships will bring Griefing to a whole new level. It will also bring an interesting brand of æcat and mouseÆ in contested system.

Looks like fun Mk II - veeery interesting.
Only disappointment was the heavy interdictor not being able to launch bubbles. Perhaps my view on them changes when I test them...
Regardless, high praise from me(!) on these new ships as potential to bring Eve into more tactical level. Thumbs up from here.

OMG!!!! PINK THORAX!!!!!
And I can easily see the Vargor becoming the new fleet sniper ship of choice. one more thing - i hope the blackops ships have a cool black paint scheme instead of their developer's usual colours... nothing worse than a bright green covert ship (Sin)

Nice bit of variety - will certainly look forward to seeing how the cov-ops ships work out now they have more to their game - a truly covert role.
I wonder what the price range of these ships will settle down too though. I understand that being T2 battleships, we're probably looking at upwards of a billion initially when they first come out. But if this is the case then will they be excessively prohibitive in price for those but the most affluent of players? Assuming that the build prices are settled on the test server, I wonder what they work out at. Also, are the hulls indicated those which need to be used for invention to produce these ships?
To the test server....
I would hope that the price will settle at less than 500mil for the BS at least, less than 200mil for the cruisers (H'ictors) and less than 30mil for the frigs. Perhaps that's a triumph of hope over experience though.
Interesting times ahead tho.

well at first i didn't quite like the Vargur. but i guess it will be okay, i just wish it was an armor tanker. i guess this is the final push i needed to get some decent shield skills
Is minnie trying to be a shield tanking race now? we have seen a lot of new ships with shield bonus and slot layouts that favor shields more. rather than the pick your tank of the past

Very nice! Thanks for the Blog!
A question about the marauders (and EW generally): Does the low sensor strength make it more probable, that they are jammed by NPCs, specially Guristas? Will ECCM¦s help against NPC¦s? Except this the seem to be very powerful ships, as long as they are not jammed.
About EA frigates: This would have been the chance to give all races a ship with good webbers. Minmatar ships are still the only good weapon against Nano-ships :(
Heavy interdictors: Does they work in low sec (I think not)? Do they use fuel for the Warp Disruption Field Generator? Why aren¦t they allowed to use drones?

Edited by: Udyr Vulpayne on 23/10/2007 12:27:23 wo would have guessed it the devoter is still made out of fail and the stats from the first testserver screenshots havent changed:
Devoter: Slots: 6/3/7, 4 turrets 10% bonus to Medium Energy Turret capacitor use per Amarr CC level 5% bonus to Medium Energy Turret ROF per HI level
Phobos: Slots: 6/4/6, 5 turrets 5% bonus to medium hybrid damage per Gallente CC level 5% bonus to medium hybrid falloff per HI level
Broadsword: Slots: 6/6/4, 5 turrets, 3 launchers 5% bonus to Medium Projectile Turret firing speed per Minmatar CC level 5% bonus to Medium Projectile Turret falloff per HI level
also: "When activated the warp disruption field generator prevents remote assistance" -> lol
one question: does the bubble work only in 0.0 or lowsec/highsec as well?

Hmm now that I see the drone bandwith stats in action I must say it looks kinda cheesy. 75mbit/s thousands of years in the future for a complicated AI machine? I sure hope there's WPA or WEP on the connection..

Edited by: Trojanman190 on 23/10/2007 12:29:24 CCP is really pushing minmatar ships to be shield tankers. I thought we were supposed to be able to choose... But 6 slots on the a rupture class hull is kind of like CCP saying, "we are sorry, we were wrong, here, have some shield bonuses AND the slots to use them"
Thank you very much CCP. Now see sig.

Golem does less dps than CNR :/ as CNR has RoF bonus and 7 launchers while Golem has 8 'effective' turrets.

Edited by: FireFoxx80 on 23/10/2007 12:30:18 All I can say is... weak.
Electronic Attack Ships Why not force people to use Force/Combat Recons? It seems that a Sentinel or Kitsune, combined with an AF could happily take down a lone battleship. Surely this just unbalances Battleships more?
Heavy Interdictors This is the only decent class of the set, and exactly what Interdictors should have been. Hit-and-run interdictor tactics are far too overused, pilots should have to commit the ship in order to hold down others (what's the activation/cooldown like on the interdicton module?)
Black Ops Interesting, but poorly implemented. The ship should have been one of two things, not both: a) a long-distance Jump-Capable/Cloaking Battleship, able to sneak behind enemy lines. b) a Jump Bridge ship, but with severely gimped combat capabilities. The sort of ship that could jump a small fleet behind enemy lines, but would have to be protected when it did so. I am not too sure about being able to jump bridge only covert-style ships either, as these have their own means of getting around blockades (ie. a cloak).
Marauders Simply, WTF?! This simply seems to be a means of appeasing the mission runners of Eve. 100% bonus to tractor beam, increased damage, and increased resists. You might as well up mission bounties and have all level5 agents require a standing of 1.0 whilst you're at it. If these ships were paper-thin, over-gunned, pew-pew boats; I'd not have minded. But this ECM weakness seems to only exist in order to give the gimped ECM ships something to attack.

Please devs consider adding +1 high slot to the Helios. Right now is the only covert ops that has two highs and it will be the the only one that can not fit a cloak + probe launcher + covert cyno.

It doesn't involve launching anything, so I'd imagine it'd work anywhere, with CONCORD showing up if it affects anyone else in highsec, just like a smartbomb or ECM burst. My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

The majority of mission runners are Caldari trained and will not change to the Golem. Firing 4 missiles of which 2, 3 or even all 4 will be shot down by defender missiles makes for less DPS than a BC (probably even less than a Caracal).

It just massively boosts the need for support ships. Also, I envision these ships as being the first ships that new players work towards for pvp. Extremely cheap and extremely dangerous. Battleships are kinda getting roughed up, but at least you get insurance on them right?

Ill agree, the ecm issue is lame, makes these ships useless for fighting the guristas. But think about ratters. I think this ship is the new secret best friend to a ratter. That tractor beam bonus is sweet, and the tracking and range bonuses mean you can use high damage ammo at a much longer range. The extra high slots mean you will certainly have a cloak in there, you might even be able to fit a stab [its ratting, there is nothing wrong with this]. Sure, mission runners will dig this, but ratters will like it too. And as I said, these ships will FAIL against guristas.

I really like all ship classes presented, each has an interesting twist and role.
Black Ops however didn't deliver at all. I mean they don't have any purpose right now, they are just BS that can use cloaks without penalty (but still they can't warp while cloaked) and move some ****ty ships around without getting ambushed by a gatecamp.
If they stay like this, you might as well forget about hardpoints for weapons and bonuses for them since they will never see any action. ----- Arbitrator - Life & Death |
