For those that dont get the port window after changing networkAdvanced to 1 .
Open your pref.ini and change the port here .
For those using HTTP tunnel and dont get the port window.
Make shortcut of your eve.exe file and add the follwing to the target : /end /LUA:OFF /server:127.0.0.1 should look like this "\D:\Priv\EvE Tranquility \EVE\eve.exe" /end /LUA:OFF /server:127.0.0.1

That is a good post.
I'm with Pipex and resubbed with Eve yesterday. I can't get in using port 26000 at all. Port 3724 gets me authenticating and then the process times out with the handshaking error. I managed to finally get in at 11pm last night but now I can't get in.
My view is the Eve support team have got to get involved in this - we can tell the ISP there is an issue but Eve has to create some form of test process to allow information to be passed to the isp that will be of use. Alternatively they could setup some ports that actually work. This is the only game that doesn't work for me. I'll perseve till the end of my renewal then i'll hang up my wings.
real shame :(

After configuring your HTTP tunnel you open your eve folder and right click on your eve.exe and make shortcut , on that shortcut you just made you rightclick and pick properties . There you have a tab called shortcut and on this tab you adjust the line next to Target to this
"\D:\Priv\EvE Tranquility \EVE\eve.exe" /end /LUA:OFF /server:127.0.0.1
Note that the pad im using will not be simular to yours , only need to add this /end /LUA:OFF /server:127.0.0.1
Worked for me :)

I'm with Pipex too; I was getting some drop out (and connection problems) at about 18:00 GMT yesterday (14th) but the service eventually returned, and I've not been able to connect since 18:30 today (using either 26000 or 3724).

Yup - from the bottom of the Pipex customer service page: Pipex Internet Limited, a Tiscali UK company, 20 Broadwick Street, London W1F 8HT
I've contacted their customer support too...tbh I've been thinking about giving Pipex the sack, this may be the final straw.

starting to get furious about this , two months or so and this problem still did not went away . have talked with my ISP dozens of times , sent log files to ISP and CCP , no one knows whats wrong ,no one shares info , this problem is not limited to tiscali customers ,if you have been following this topic and the like , customers in Greece, Ireland ,some other eastern Europe country , Poland iirc , and lots of others, share the same problem.
its not easy to pin point whats wrong, for starters its not persistent , it can work one day and not the other , then work great for a week , and then drop for the next week. like some people mentioned , if you manage to get in but get disconnected from the server every few minutes , turning ping plotter and letting it ping TQ server contentiously in the background seems to help keeping the connection intact . this info SHOULD be looked into by the support team ,it might hint about the source of the problem . also sometime im getting the disconnect message : connection to server closed , which is different from the usual :connection to server lost . so ,different error message , that have to mean something ? what triggers the connection to server closed ? im tired of half assed solutions like http tunnel and playing with ping plotter at the background , and i did not even start to talk about the constant and random BSOD i am getting since trinity, if i do manage to get in ... but thats issue for another topic. so yes CCP , the problem is maybe not big enough to hurt TQ statistics ,but its here and you cant deny it , please take this matter more seriously .
or ill cancel my 257 accounts right now !! im serious

The port blocking started for me yesterday and again today. Peak time 4:00pm and able to connect again 12:30am. Pipex have gone down the sewer. I wouldnt mind if I was a heavy downloader but I only use my connection to play Eve, browse and email.
I'd change ISP in a heartbeat if i wasnt locked into a 12month contract. :(

Read up m8y: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=620747&page=6#152
The port box doesn't appear in the Trinity client, you need to set the port manually in the prefs.ini file.

I dunno if anyone has posted this - I only made it about five pages through this thread, but in the Trinity client since you can no longer specify server and port on the login screen, both are specified in the prefs.ini file.
Specifically, if you're like me using tunneling software (I simply use Putty and my home SSH server) I required the following lines:
networkAdvanced=1 port=26000 server=localhost
Works for me.

would like a simple concept to work, sort of click on the eve icon, enter user and password then connect
none of this hassle of tunnels and command line patches
off to play Vendetta Online, at least that works :)

great.... tiscali said.... we prefer you to connect to this "web site" during off peak hours. after I made the foreign bloke at the end of the phone reaslise that he was being stupid. he said... I will send you a document that will resolve the issue. I said... should I phone back when it doesn't work... he said.. it WILL work.
so he emails me a link, I log in to their support page... and it says: Permission Denied This answer is no longer available.
Juuuuuuuuuuuust great!

Finnaly got a reply from NTL (UPC Now) and was told that a tech downloaded the game and it worked just fine from their office.
So UPC has in 1 little sentance passed the buck and left me out in the cold. As no-one can help, bar to say it must be my router/firewall (which I dont have!) I am forced to say bye bye to Eve.
Oh and if anyone asks for my stuff. U could have it if I bloody well could log on to give it to u :P
Have fun all.

A good few people in Ireland on NTL (UPC) are having the same problems. Alot of people playing Tabula Rasa are having the same issuses, playNC even say that they're having alot of trouble.
Quote: We currently receive a lot of report from customers with ISP connections of the Chello familiy (Chello, UPC, Telesystems), also especially from Ireland. The problem seems related to a routing issue of the ISP or other involved carriers. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about this in particular. Most of such issues are temporary, but if your problem persists, please contact your provider about this issue.
ET:Quake Wars was having the same issue so ID decided to gather information to slap Chello about a bit to get it fixed. http://community.enemyterritory.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11040
If you want to play Eve and have a good chance of playing any other online game you should email them back and get them to look into it again and again and again. If CCP where to contact them like ID then it would put a bit more weight behind getting it fixed, PlayNC have been asked but they have a policy of not contacting ISP and

This is garbage, I live in california and I'm getting this problem as well. I use SBC DSL. All this started happening maybe a week ago, I'm tired of this I can't even play the game I subscribe for because of a ******* port. Seems like I can log into eve, sit idle for a long time but then after a few minutes of doing things in station I click to market and then it stops everything (game is not frozen) meaning I can't go into assets, bio, evemail, anything a few minutes go by and I get disconnected.
I've tried the port work around describe here but nothing changes on the splash screen.
I'm using Windows XP and SBC DSL.

Well one thing works, if you ping something in the background while your playing eve, the connection will stay up, but still has hickups. This is what I do; Open up command prompt type ping www.google.com -t
can be any website really. then just leave that running and play eve.

Edited by: Yormungandr on 08/02/2008 09:50:03 Edited by: Yormungandr on 07/02/2008 20:41:40 Just for the record: I starter playing EVE with my two friends, and both now are quitting because of the problem described in posts above: disconnects. I hope that this problem will be addressed by CCP, because it causes people to actually hate the game.
Do something please!
EDIT: it seems that I'm hit by the same problem since yesterday. HELP. Neither changing port, nor pinging in the background doesn't help.
