Hey there! A short "quick" question for the many hardcore eve players out there. I have recently gotten myself into a amar recon, the pilgrim. I'm not here to talk setup, I'm just here to ask a "simple" question. I want to use 3 med slots for ewar.. I just can't see why I would choose 3 tracking disrupters (even though I do get a nice 25% bonus) over 3 sensor dampners! The way I understand it, and that might be wrong, the dampners will be better in every engagement I'll have? I mean, tracking disrupter would "only" work against ship using turrets, but I would still be a target to nos, neut and missiles.. The dampners kinda take care of all that? Or am I missing some great feat about tracking dis? Thansk for you time!

Thanks for bringing this to all of our attention, but we already knew.

Your ship gets a bonus to TDs, therefore you shall use TDs.
Also, they use less cap, I think...

well, I'm not bringing anything to your attention, I'm just asking a question, so bugger of.. I'm asking, cause they might have a use that I'm not aware of.. As to the bonus, and the less cap usage don't justify using them.(in my openion) I was hoping that they would excell in some point, have a niche of their own?

not much point in putting more then 2 TDs i think, 3rd one could be damp to increase lock time if they try to lock your drones. 3TDs might be overkill.

Think about it. The pilgrim is a close range 1 on 1 recon. What would be the point in dampening someone, when you have to orbit within webbing range, which means you're gonna be within their targeting range anyway. Useless isn't it? -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Coming from another Amarr recon player here's my advice:
Sell/reprocess your Pilgrim and buy a Curse. Fit with 3 damps. Win.

There is no hidden secret to TDs. They have limited use in very specific circumstances.
Neuts, missiles, drones, points, webs etc etc are not hindered in any way. Also they don't effect falloff, so be aware of ships that fight in their falloff.
Obviously, as to which ewar is more useful on your pilgrim setup, you'd need to take a look at what type of fights you're going to be in.

Damps are very useful even if inside web range. If you see one of your drones taking damage, scoop it and relaunch. A damped enemy will have a hard time getting a lock on your drones. Which in a Pilgrim are most likely your only kind of damage.

Tracking disruptors will ruin any turret users day. If you use tracking disruptors you have to worry about Drones, Missiles, EWar (primarily).
Sensor Dampeners will ruin *any* weapon users day.
TD's make turrets turn super slow...cut their optimal big time (long range snipers get hit bad by this and Pulse laser users get hit hard by this), and you get a bonus to using them to boot.
Damps will reduce a targets lockon range drastically, they will increase their lockon time significantly, but use more cap and you don't get a built in bonus with your ship.
Thing I find a problem about TD's is that most ships I would opt to use them against seem to be Amarr, because a lot of the others have a nice chunk of damage from their drones alone. Drones hurt. ---

TDs actually work pretty well on the Pilgrim, since it's a solo hunter and can (and needs to) pick its fights. Sure, currently damps work better, but that will change soon.
With TDs, just don't engage missile ships or serious drone boats. Still leaves you a lot of targets.
That said, Pilgrim needs a bit of love from CCP. The nosfe nerf hit it hard. It used to be a borderline-overpowered solo ship, now it seriously struggles.
