Bit of a noob here but somebody give me a good ship/setup to take down a lone sabre?
Ship skills go up to BS.

Retribution, he wont expect it.
Just hope he isnt gonna run away, fitting a disruptor in the only mid is your best bet.

anything can tank 200dps and have 1 web/disruptor will eat sabres.
They are not (sabres) vey though they just have a buffer and very scary bubble ships. But if u are in a cruiser and start your guns first when u see the lone sabre u'll see he will die before u :P
In eve pvp, diffrence between starting your 200DPS guns at first second or starting your 400DPS at 10th second which takes around 30secs fight is only 6000 dor 8000 d overall its just like 200DPS to 270DPS. If u get my point :P

Could always try a battleship with a few heavy energy neuts and the rest guns, try to shut down his cap and shoot him if he tries to run. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

There is no ship as fearsome to a sabre pilot as the rapier/huginn. There is an out against every other ship save these.

like i say to every other pilot who thinks eve is a single player game... DONT TRAVEL OR rAT ALONE!!!! why is this concept so damn difficult, eve was never meant to be a single player gameplay. rat with a friend _________________________________________________________ Only once you've lost everything, are you free to do anything. |

Of course it's a single player game. There's no problem at all playing solo.
Nowhere in the phrase "Massively Multi-player Online Role Playing Game" (MMORPG) is it expressed or implied that you have to play as a borg to enjoy the game or have fun.
The crucial concept is playing against other humans, rather than an AI.
Now, that doesn't mean that there aren't game mechanics much more well-suited to group actions, but, still, you don't have to play with a group to enjoy the game.

Hurricane will also rip apart a sabre, along with almost every other ship mentioned so far. <----------------------------------> Carebears aren't people, they're giant flying piniatas.

Rapier or Huginn. Vaga if you're faster than him, but chances are he's faster than you. Honestly if he sees a Cruiser or Hurricane or Battleship or whatever he's just going to lol and run, you can't do anything to chase him down and hurt him, since you obviously want to kill him.
Element of surprise works too. He'll attack anything he thinks he has a chance to kill. Get in an Ishkur with rails and drones, wait for him to get into 11km range where he'll orbit to test if you have a web(and if you did without overheat he could get out quickly.), overheat, and grab on.
Hopefully you do enough damage through his extenders to finish him off.

Edited by: Katrina Coreli on 26/10/2007 22:33:04 Im going to get flamed for this but i had sucess killing one that was annoying me in an ishkur. The key is to get the pilot*****y so he slips up unless you are bringing an oversized ship.
Sabre pilots on the whole seam to work rather mechanically. They sit on a gate, if the gate flashes they drop a bubble. I jumped in and predictably the sabre bubbled me. However i started MWDing to a celestial, making it look like i wanted to get away. In this situation the sabre pilot will ussually be afraid of loosing you so it will fall in behind you keeping close enough to you to maintain scram. Then i simply turned off my MWD and brought my ship to a standstill, sabre ran right into my back :)
Once webbed and scrammed a sabre is no problem. Ofc to gurantee a kill youll want to go with something beafier but once youve got em webbed most ships can eat sabres. However most sabre pilots if they come across something they dont think they can take will gtfo.

Anything larger then a cruiser will eat a saber for breakfast. At the very least, for it to run.

A rupture with autos(emp)+web+neut will rip a saber to shreds before it breaks your shield most of the time.
you might need to pretend to run away to get it to engage though

Funilly enough, whenever I wander around solo in a reti I ALWAYS run into solo sabres. It's wierd. I also never die.
This is the setup:
4x DLP II (Scorch FTW), 1x Small Nos 1x MWD (Doesn't help in this case all that much but it's what I run) 1x SAR II, 2x HS II, 1x EANMII, largest plate you can fit OR a TE II
1x Anti-Therm Pump, 1x Trimark rig.
Shoots good and still pulls 1k/s ----

Most sabres will camp by a gate.
hop on a harb, stick double webs on it. pretend you're about to get owned when you warp in on a bubble, turn around.
stick x5 proto web when he tries to bump you off the gate.
enjoy dead sabre.
well, dead stupid sabre.
if he doesent bite, you get out clean anyways, so its pretty much a win-win tactic against solo dictors

now the sac is a missile boat which outperforms the cerb in general pvp, a cerb can take a place as inty or dictor killer.
5x t2 assaults (precision lights kinetic) 1x t2 disruptor, 1x web, 1x t2 EM harderner, 2x t2 L. ext. 3 x t2 ballistics,1x Something fun
bigger ships prolly kills you, but its great to kill smaller ships:)

i pretty much only fly a sabre in eve... they arent much to worry about by yourself, as we always use autocannons... i avoid retributions, and worry about ishkurs and vengeance's all other frig sized ships die
almost EVERY combat cruiser or larger can kill a sabre... easily, cept maybe the caracal whove ive killed many o times. but things like a thorax, rupture, maller, t1 zealot, all that junk, is scary if they are close range fit...
a BC will bash a sabre.. no ifs ands or buts..
and a battleship, should never ever die to a lone sabre :S
sabres are not overpowered. people who things to need a spanking _________________________________________________________ Only once you've lost everything, are you free to do anything. |
