Rapid firing: Skill at fast turret firing. +4% Bonus to Weapon turrets speed.
Motion prediction: Improved ability at hitting fast moving targets. Grants a 5% Bonus per level to Weapon turrets tracking speed.
What does fast firing turret mean exactly? How does it effect damage in combat? Why should i train MP to lvl5?

When you get a Tachyon Beam Laser, it fires once every 9 seconds. Having rapid firing can drastically reduce this time between shots and can save your life.
Motion Prediction is also good because if you're in a big slow ship, and some little ship is buzzing around you like a fly, it's hard for that big slow gun to hit the little ship. If your Tach fires once every 9 seconds, and you miss, that's 18 seconds that this little ship is slowly pecking away at your shields. These skills provide noticeable increases in combat tactics.
PS: Don't quote me on the Tachyeon specifications... I can't recall the numbers off the top of my head, but you get the point.

Rapid firing = increased Rate of Fire (RoF). Higher ROF equates to a higher Damage over Time (DoT)
Each lever your guns will fire that little bit quicker.
Motion Prediction = increased tracking speed Tracking speed is the rate at which your guns turn. The bigger guns suffer from horribly slow tracking speed. A higher tracking speed means a better chance for successfully hitting, though distance is a factor in this too. ___________________________________________ Join in the NEW Sci-Fi Quiz |

Quote: Rapid firing = increased Rate of Fire (RoF). Higher ROF equates to a higher Damage over Time (DoT)
Actualy, Rapid firing LOWERS the RoF, and lower RoF = Faster firing = more dmg over time
Gunnery does the same thing, 2% faster RoF per lvl

Well technicaly it is raising your rate of fire because it is shortening your refire delay (what the RoF stat should be called IMO).
1 shot/ 10 sec = .1 shot/sec
1 shot/ 20 sec = .05 shot/sec
