Edited by: Mr Bodacious on 27/10/2007 01:43:32 Hey guys. I got my hands on a stabber and I wanted to take it out for pvp with a speed fit. I'm more or less looking for the optimal solo pvp fitting for the stabber. Here is what I have right now:
4x 220mm AC's, 2x standard missile launcher Scram, MWD, Cap recharger II (wtf? CR2? I dunno) 1x gyro II, 1x OD II, 1x nano
This can orbit outside web range.
It doesn't really perform all that well, though. I'm really frustrated trying to set up a solo ship that performs.
Please, please help me!

CR II is pretty fail for pvp. Speed fit is the only fit for a pvp stabber.
4x 180mm IIs, 2x hml IIs, mwd II, pt and LSE II all fits fine for me.
If you want more ganky/dpsy then go for the rupture.

. . . and for lows 1-2 Over Drive II's and 1-2 T2 Nano's.
It has been awhile since I flew one but the key was going really fast. 4.5kms seemed to work alright though I did get run down by a Rupture pimped for speed once. Load barrage and with some luck and skill you can avoid being webbed and zoom off when you get primaried then dive back in again - rinse and repeat. It is as much fun as I have had in Eve.
A Stabber doesn't tank like Rupture, do damage like a Rupture or fit a web comfortably. A Stabber can however go Zzzoooooommm allowing you to scout/tackle/solo in an affordable setup plus provide some damage.
I tried to kill a Myrmidon ratting in 0.0 awhile back but he just kept shooting the spawn and once they were all dead his tank held. He never even tried to fight back but I couldn't kill him.

Still 11 or so days away from t2 medium ac's :(
I'm working with named t1 stuff atm.
Am I wrong in thinking that you need gyros to put out decent dps? whats the point of a solo ship if you can't kill anything? Also, does anyone know where to find a 'guide' to speed tanking? I can't seem to get it right..

Sounds like you are 11 days from being able to fly a Stabber.I suspect the reason you have been dying so much is the need to get in your opponents web range to hit.

It is more of a question of what you can kill. In low sec you can kill cruisers and frigates in belts while in 0.0 you can kill BC's if they suck and/or you have enough help from Rats. Hunting solo on a gate (without two accounts) in a Stabber is not going to be very easy/effective as you lack a web to stop people getting back to the gate plus you are likely to be ganked if you can't see what is on the otherside of the gate. So it is belt warfare mostly for a solo Stabber. Yes the options are limited but that is the nature of solo pvp.
If you want a Stabber that can really chew stuff up then you'll have to keep training for a Vagabond and slap on those gyro's - but get T2 Medium AC's first.
Speed tanking involves orbiting outside web range and pulsing your MWD to maintain distance. If the damage is getting to heavy then mwd off and get aligned for warp out.

I figured as much.. Like I said in the OP, I am able to orbit outside of web range, but I do shat for DPS.
Sigh. It really sucks that t2 anything is neccessary to fly pvp ships.

This is just the ship were it matters the most.
My setup:
4* dual 180mm II (barrage/ fleet EMP) 2* Assault missile II (or arbalest)
1* 10mn mwd II 1* warp disrupter II 1* Large shield extender II
1* nanofiber II 1* Overdrive II 1* Gyrostab II or another speedmod/damage control
1* warrior II

stabber without TII guns and barrage is pretty fail against anything thats not shield tanked. dont forget to bring some rep. fleet emp for shield tankers, since they seldom have a web u wont need the extra falloff.
u could also downgrade to 180s and use a Neut II + assault missile launcher for inty gankage. ___________

I can get my falloff + optimal to equal about 10400 meters if I use fusion M and 220s :p
10 days left for t2 guns.. why must the training be so long? :(

Use those 10 days to sample the joys of flying a 1600mm plated Rupture. Rupture's are a great cruiser to use with T1 guns.
BTW 220's are nice guns but 180's track better, don't do much less damage, and free up some PG. 180's work fine for Stabber's and Ruptures.

I'd probably capitalize on the launchers and use dual 180s to make it fit. Remember, your launchers can keep on hitting even when you're going at Ludicrous Speed. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

Got 1.3 days after I finish to train up motion prediction IV :( At least I got small autocannon spec out of the way.
