Wth is this? On Sisi, T2 tracking comps only give +7.5% optimal and +15% tracking anymore? Is that a joke? They also have the charge icon on them, I assume that this means they will be subject to the either/or effect thingy like damps, but in this case should not their respective properties be doubled to retain the same level of efficiency, rather than halved which effectively cuts their power down to 1/4th?
And why change them at all, I don't think I ever saw anyone mention TCs as being omgwtfpwn...

I wish tracking computers effected explosion radius and velocity on missiles aswell.

Scripts. These are these the charge thingies you'll use. Regard the current stats as base stats, which are then modified by the specific script.
Whether there's a nerf or boost is impossible to tell until the scripts are released.

Scripts, like the above poster said. All mods with two "boosts" get their base effect halfed (or worse), and you can "load them up" with something that boosts back their effect (but only ONE of them, not both) to similar pre-change levels. So, you get either tracking or range like before, not both. _

So if I load my TC with the tracking script, I get 7.5% optimal and 30% tracking, while if I load it with optimal script I get 15% Optimal and 15% tracking? And if I fit two with alternating scripts I get like 70% of what I currently get on TQ? Still a nerf, if not as bad as I thought initially. Of course, maybe the scripts bost stuff beyond current TQ values.

Im not sure, but someone have mentioned that if you wanna boost one of your stats some extra with scripts.... the other one will get a hit.
So boost tracking to 30%, and your range bonus will get capped even more...
Anyway, we`ll just have to wait and see.

Sensor boosters have had the same treatment, so snipers are gonna be totally boned after Trinity comes out.
Funnily enough, its gonna really screw the Eagle over too, which is quite clearly an overpowered ship and in need of nerfing.
/me checks his list RSD' - Nerfed TD's - Nerfed SB's - Nerfed TC's - Nerfed Carriers- Soon to be nerfed Eos - Nerfed Myrm - Nerfed Snipers - Nerfed
Theyre doing well so far

Funny really, what mainly caused this was RSD's. They're not broken?
Fleet battles are currently battles done at 150km+, rendering for example the Rokh somewhat without its bonus. Three solutions as I see it, #1 nerf t2 ammo, #2 Nerf TC's #3 remove locking cap. CCP chose #2.
My main concern is however weapon ugprades? They have 2 bonuses, will they get the same treat?
While the modules themselves are not broken, they cause scenarios that are.

Quite a few modules are affected in the same way on the test server at that moment, including sensor boosters, tracking disruptors and sensor dampeners. The scripts haven't been seeded yet so i don't know exactly what they will do or how effective they will be.

What we can say for sure is that this is a boost for nanof*gotry and closerange ganksetups.
At range you wont be able to lock them before they are on top of you.
And when you finally lock them you cant track them.
CCP`s solution? bring friends = Blobs = more lag

well i have to say, that i kinda appreciate the "rebalancing" , not the tracking computer in particularly since it is in some respects somewhat underpowered imo.
However, carrier nerf YAY! (hell kill their insurance too.. dont wanna see the ******* carrier remote repping his 3 buddies in low sec while being rather invincible anymore..)
Eos nerf... well seriously it had it comming for ages, that ship was sooo overperwed in every regard..
RSDs, well yeah both range and targeting speed are too harsh (esp in combo with normal ECM..)
Sensor booster, aka sniper nerf, w00t...!! not that ive been killed by a sniper in ages when flying anything but a shuttle, but yeah, appreciate it, noone needs those 200km frigate sniping bs's in empire anyway...
and regarding fleet warfare: rejoice, more tactical choices for you... no more 150+ fights guaranteed, some smart commander could actually try to go close range now :P Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed filesize of 24000 bytes -Hango ([email protected]) |

Stop whining before we see what the scripts really do?
For all we know, this could end up as a major boost to TCs & co, with the standard script restoring the old values, and then others to fiddle with the values, like twice the range boost for no tracking.
SO STOP THE FREAKING WHINING!

Well it will end up with even more extreme setups, that's for sure. And then nerf. And then whining.

I dont know if these are gonna be good changes or bad changes.
But thanks CCP that finnaly some changes are coming out, EVE was getting boring with all mechanics working the same for so long.
I can remember the changes to missiles (adding explosion velocity and radius) changed a lot of things and made a lot of people whine. But it did make EVE more intresting and existing. Forumwarriors these days just worry to much. _________________________________________________ Breetime

Since we don't know what the scripts will be, speculation is completely pointless. But I'm going to speculate that this will cause a stealth boost to the Rokh.

Edited by: Acinonyx Jubatus on 27/10/2007 17:16:21 In all honesty, as long as it doesn't take 10 seconds to swap out the script, like say, 1 second to switch between the two. Not much is actually changed, you just have to be more alert.
Think about it, I'll use tracking comps as an example, as it's the original question. You have long range and upclose. you typically love the tracking but in long range you aonly really need the range increase. Same for close range, you typically don't need 100 or so optimal when you're shooting someone only 20km away, instead you need the tracking over the range.
Same goes for any mod with the dual effect, damps, at far range you want to reduce the target's range, upclose you're probably useless if you're trying to reduce its range when fully reduced you're still in its range, so reduce its scan res.
Tracking disruptors are a bit more tricky...
Oh yeah I just remembered... swapping scrips'll suck during lagfests.
