I have been running into some single interdictor gate camps in 0.0 space.
What I need is a ship type and tactics not just to run the gate, but to kill the interdictor( an eventually drive these guys out of the region)
Since I am sure that after one or two kills the interdictor pilot may make some adjustments it would be helpful if the tactics suggested would take those adjustments in to account.
------------------ I have a second account and I can play both at the same time so I would also be intrested in tactics employing two ships, for example a Interceptor as a tackler and a HAC or BS as damage dealer.

i¦d say minmatar recon, lock him down hard and kill him. if you can catch him that is... but cant say 100% it is the best ship to kill the dictor with.
as he most likly is fast and most likly drop a bubble on you. you need to lock him down with web and disruptor so he dont run away... do some damage fast before he call in back up etc.
all i can think of is recon or maybe hac nanofitted. or another dictor

Edited by: Brea Lafail on 27/10/2007 15:48:31 What sort of dictor are we talking? Faction fitted, rigged sabre with snake implants? T1 fitted heretic? Big difference.
A cruiser should be able to kill a low-end dictor if you pin him down long enough. Problem is, he sees 2 or 3 people jump in, he's going to run (at least I would). So, maybe try a vaga. Or sneak a force recon in through another gate, but he might get the jitters and move to another system.
Really, the only way I can think of getting a high-end dictor would be to keep trying and hope he makes a mistake (just like the guy above me said).

Rapier sounds perfect. You come in through the back door. You warp cloaked to within 100k of the gate. Then you get within the warp disrupot/(bonused web range) and you web and kill him.

If he sees you in a huggin or raper he will run, problem is he is faster than a speeding bowl of porridge so you will have trouble catching him.
If he sees he may lose he will run, dictors have a flimsy papertank and will virtually instapop to a decent amount of firepower.
My advice would be
1. Get a cloaked huggin or rapier on the gate 2. jump in a tanked hauler get agro 3. uncloak, web and kill dictor pilot
PS: If I happend to be one of these dictor pilots in question ignore steps 1 - 3

Vaga would have to suck to get killed by a solo dictor, probably, but if the dictor was faster it could get away no prob. Sooo... to be sure, the vaga would need to be fully rigged, implanted pilot, etc.

Hmm, I thought someone would have faced this problem before and worked out a successful tactic.
I assume that the dictor is intially sitting zero on the gate and when he hears the gate activation he drops a bubble.
If he stays in the bubble he will be able to web an incoming ship as soon as it declocks and then be orbit it very close and blast away.
If he moves outside of the bubble as soon as he drops the bubble he has the opportunity to warp away if the ship that just used the gate poses a threat. I think the downside of this would be that the entering ship may appear ont he opposite side of the station and be able to MWD outside the bubble and warp off. I am not sure of the exact timing maybe mauybe the interdictor can close on their target and scramble them with a T2 disruptor.
I guess what we need is someone who has real in game experience with this tactical situation.

I have run into this before. I gave the guy a run for his money in my arty wolf, by keeping him out of web range when possible, but man, he was fast, and eventually popped me.
if I had a choice on what ship to use, I'd have done it with a Stabber t2 fitted with artilleries/nano

Warrior IIs. Scares them out of scramble range every time for me. Use longer range guns to knock him out then. If you're wanting a close up fight, then just use light webifier drones.

The trick is to get him aggressed on a gate. At that moment, a decloaking rapier is about as nasty as you can get. You could also jump 2 ships through to him at the same time, a hauler and a vaga. The hauler may be so tasty that he'll bite hard.
You're only going to get one chance to kill the dictor with whatever you try; after that you'll be on his list of pilots to avoid, but it won't stop him from working the area.

Id probaly say a ship spesfically setup for taking out that dictor type that the dictor will engage, like vs sabre you could run an ishkur with explosive tank and some damage type to do max damage do get him down.
Other choices are t1 cruisers, thorax, rupture and other cruiers that can web and take one out, some dictor pilots are ballsy enough to try solo t1 cruisers because theyre often flown by noobs.
Another option could be alpha it down, like a sleipnir with some speed and artys could 1-2 volley depends on dictor's buffer... killing it before it knew what decloaked, tho this is expensive and wont be good for much else.
