They are the best GTC Vendor out there in my opinion. They are concerned about your security and that's a good thing. I'm a loyal customer of theirs.

I have to agree, they have a superb customer service. Today i got my first 3 GTC's i used 2 to activate my trial accounts and sold one. The first two came in 10 minutes from ordering (no phone call), and the last one came one hour later because i made a new order for it. Extremely fast and good service. I doubt that email you got was from there at all.

I buy all my gametime from ShatteredCrystal and I were never contacted by those TrustWho guys. Either its unrelated scam attempts or they thought you were extra suspicious, although I cant imagine how suspicious you would have had to have been, because I couldnt answer their security questions about Landmarks because I suck at remembering names, yet I still got accepted.

I've also bought evetime from www.shatteredcrystal.com two times and had no problems with their service. On my first time, I got a call with couple of security questions and when that was done, my order was processed and got my timecodes in email. Month later I got email that my account was fully active (=no checking on next purchase).
On my second purchase, I got the timecodes in less than a minute after paying trough paypal (not kidding, I got emails from both paypal confirming by payment and shattered hand less than 1 minute apart).
So, all I can say is - I am a happy customer and will buy from them again. |

You will never come into personal contact with him for him to verify it.
Imagine you sent him some photo ID. What he gonna do - stare down the phone and check its you?

It's quite simple why they do this check. Hacked PayPal accounts are extremely common and PayPal has one of the worst fraud protection ever. If it is a trade outside eBay auctions they won't lift a finger if you get scammed as they simply don't care, I found that out the costly way a few years ago.
So in other words Chatteredcrystal simply cover their own ass as nothing they trade will be refunded nor compensated if they get scammed.
Tbh if I was going to become a criminal, PayPal would be the number one choice for receiving money.

Honestly. Shattered crystal is ftw. They do, if you weren't told or didn't look, have the option to fax such info. They are not a scam, but I do understand the over email thing. Which, to me is not a smart thing to do.

No picture? So you haven't moved house in the last 15 years? If you do you're supposed to pay them to change your address and give you one of the new fangled DLs with a picture on it. Pain in the arse but at least it would have prevented you having so many problems buying your GTC.

Well, you don't need to buy at Shattered Crystal. There are other companies offering GTCs, and there are other means to pay for EVE.
I myself have already bought codes at Shattered Crystal ages ago for Ultima Online, and am doing it for EVE codes for years now. I never had to send in a photo identification, though, and if they ever would have asked me to do, I would not be their customer.

I use shattered crystal myself, I never got asked for photo ID, but I did have to verify my Paypal account by sending them 1 pence through Paypal. Shortly after that my time code appeared.
I used to buy time codes direct from CCP, but I had to wait for the timecard itself to arrive from Iceland (or wherever their shop is based) which has lead to some periods of inactivity in the past while I wait for the wonderful local postal service to get my card to me.
By using E-mail, I get the timecode very quickly.

Odd they asked for this.
I have used them before and never had this sort of trouble. I received one telephone call a few mins after placing the order and that was it.
At the end of the day you have to ask yourself if you want to risk your ID by sending them documents. It's up to you. Personally, I would tell them to sod off and just buy your cards from the Eve Store. They'll take a little longer to arrive but that's the price you pay for security.

BattleClinic ftw.
I refused to send any personal info to evetimecode.com after they didnĘt seem satisfied with the phone call. Headed over to BattleClinic where I received no shtick and had a satisfying customer experience.
I think trying to do business of this sort with a small overly security conscious US business from the UK causes more problems than its worth.

I'm a bit surprised it's not more well known that the person/people responsible for shattered crystal are heavily involved with the RMT industry. I'll refrain from linking the actual site; the whois info is enough to figure it out.

I've used shattered crystal and I'm very impressed with their service. It's been more than a year since I first used them and no identity theft yet.
They go to enormous lengths to make sure your card is not stolen, yes. For example, when they gave me my phone call to verify my identity, I had not updated my address info with my bank and when they asked me where I lived, I gave them the wrong answer. As a result even after hopping back and saying I had recently moved and answering some questions about local landmarks, I was still requested to send a state-issued photo ID. Got my GTC minutes later.

I'm an American (with American bank and credit cards) working and living abroad. I constantly am asked to send copies of my US drivers license, utility bills, bank statements, credit card statements, etc. in order to do business online.
What happens, I believe, is that my IP address is compared with my stated billing address, and a discrepancy is found.
I am quite sure that I have supplied such information to sites that do not routinely require the same information from their customers in USA or UK with American or British IP's.

Originally by: Loewe I bought my last ones with from the CCP shop itself. This time I thought it'd be better to get it instantly, so since I'd heard good things about ShatteredCrystal, I ordered through them.
I can't say I have anything good to say about Shattered Crystal. I got a phone call 10 mins after I placed the order. This was to ask some security questions. Then they said I'd receive an email, which I assumed would be my timecode, but instead I received one from TrustWho.com saying that they needed ID. A Government ID style and a Utility Bill to prove address. Sent via Email!
On Friday afternoon (UK), like a fool because I really wanted it, I sent them both (a utility statement and my driving license). I spent Friday evening trying to hear from them, chased again on Saturday morning, to be told that only Managers can view the ID's and they aren't in over the weekend. By this time I'm starting to worry and the realisation that I've sent my ID over the interneet which would be an identity theif's wet dream!
So Monday (today) comes around, I waited till 17:00 UK time so the managers would've had time in USA to get into the office. Then I chased them up. To be told:
Originally by: Shattered Crystal
My apologies, I had emailed you about your ID you sent in but you must not have received it. We require some form of photo identification. Unfortunately your driving permit does not have one. If you could send in a government issued Photo ID then we can continue verification.
Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience,

Now is it me, or wtf does a company need my photo ID for? It's not like I'm there in person so they can check the picture. I would've thought my UK Driving license (non-picture) would've been enough!
So hence my concerns, what a terrible company to deal with.
You failed the identity test so they are paying another company to verify your identity. That costs them a decent chunk of money and if they didn't appreciate new customers and try and sa***uard all the customers then they wouldn't have this. This is a good thing, they actually care enough to spend money verifying you. This protects them, and everyone else from scammers and CC fraud.

I have had a similar problem with shattered Crystal after recomendation from a friend. But i got called up and received a pure grilling of pure stupid questions by an american who had no idea. for example. I live in england. question one was. What is the nearest free way. Which i answered. We have no freeways in england but the nearest mainroad to me is the m1. on which he said the m1 is not a freeway. hmm ok. Secondly where is the nearest public building or hospital to you. well hmm, i took a moment to answer... i live next to a pub and opposite a church how is that... no is tehre a hopital nearby. so i took a moment to think.. there is one around the corner how is that? ... no not good enough. ..... then he asked me .. what road do you like on and what is the nearest main raod.. so i was like haha easy question so i told him my rod and the bigged nearest road .... no i was wrong. then i got asked the nearest major town ... no i was wrong .. then he asked me some further questions and then he took offence at my further responce of... one sec let me check google map .... long story short i didnt get my gtc. basically these guys have very well trained monkeys at googe map,, train any skills w google map to Level V before dealing with them otherwise they will out hack and out drag u. pwned int he face xxx shattered crystal 4tw

Actually Shattered Crystal, Trust Who and Markee Dragon all belong to the same guy. So it costs nothing to him. He probably even makes money from this. As he makes money from selling accounts and items from several MMORPG for real money, which is strictly forbidden by most of those games publishers. So talk about a total swindler...

Take a look at his 'partners'. That's a bloody list of gold sellers isn't it? Check by yourself some of them resells isks and eve items.
So from one side he's a ccp trusted GTC dealer, and from the other side he encourages and promotes isk selling. What's CCP position towards this? Others GTC sellers seem to respect the eula and laws. Should Markee dragon stay on your official list?
Oh cheese, this makes em criminal, i aint gonna buy from them no more, i dont want to support isk selling.

Shatteredcrystal is a shady crew indeed. They break the EULA for several games by selling isk and bots. And i remember them selling ISK somewhere on a page which doesnt like to shatteredcrystal, but is owned by the same dude.
As for my experience with shattered crystal. Im an ID fraud they tried to convince me. I really didnt get how so, but i definately am.
