Me too.
And when I try to force the issue by using the "capture portrait" nothing happens, and if I try to use the "view full body" command it takes forever to load and what comes out is a garbled mess of an avatar; the textures are broken. |

Its getting worse: Agent Pics come neither.
It does't matter if I use ressourcecache or not - just clearing cache helps for a while. I bet its a number-based problem heritaged from Win by WINE.

FYI: I petitioned that bug, and "GM XAMOTHER" suggested to clear cache and to delete the "EVE\ Online"-folder located in "~/Library/Application\ Support/". But I did that already and it didn't help.
But, if you need to do so, it is done in the "Terminal" with
cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/ rm -r EVE\ Online/
This action will reset all stored Information (Yes, you can use a trial account again then) and all your settings (what you probably dislike)
AGAIN: It doesn't Help!!!

It's pathetic how CCP preferes to ignore Mac users. The main question is: why even they declare supporting Mac client without actually doing so? Since Crucible, Mac client became unplayable, and no bugreports or lamenting here in this forum helps. |

As of todays patch mine is now loading the pics. Although with the lack of response to this problem on either the forums, peoples petitions, or mention of this in the patch notes I highly suspect this fix to be purely accidental.
Also lets see if anyone else new gets this problem since I've become increasingly convinced that each new update just shuffles around the problems for Mac users. Every update it seems is like some crappy game show prize wheel of Mac problems. Crash to desktop todayGǪ freeze issue after the patch. Freeze issue before, crash at gates next patch. During each patch or update your client spins the "Wheel Of Mac Issues" and develops a whole new set of problems in exchange for your old ones. Problems that CCP will either ignore, say they can't replicate then ignore, or take months to admit there may be a problem then disappear and seemingly do nothing about it for another few months, all until the next update when your client steps up and spins the wheel again and the whole thing starts over. |

Hi everyone and thanks for your feedback on this issue, we need a few more data points to help narrow down potential causes. If you could please reply here with data along these lines it would be invaluable to us:
OS X version: 10.6 Approx. date of issue first occurring: January 24th (Crucible 1.1) Clearing cache helps: Yes, but only for about an hour in Jita watching local chat.
Note that it is also of value to post if you are not having this issue at all. CCP Gangleri | Senior Tester

Aye, not working again. This started after the 1.1 release, OX 10.7, clearing cache only works for a small time then it's back to no pictures, well, about 10% pictures and the rest- zip. -áThe Sideburns- Always Outnumbered- Never Outgunned. Manchester United - Paul Scholes= Genius |

OSX 10.6.8, MacBook Pro Started with Crucible 1.1, around Jan 24th I think.
Clearing the cache did result in portraits showing up. But a few minutes of scrolling about in Jita local list, and the no-loading issue started showing up again. Seems to get worse with time.
Also odd things like agents I have seen in a station (but not talked to before the 24th) do have their portraits in the agent list in station services, but when I talk to them they do not have a portrait in the agent convo window. 1st: I still have this issue
OS X version: 10.7.2 Approx. date of issue first occurring: January 24th (Crucible 1.1) Clearing cache helps: Yes, but only for about half an hour in Jita watching local chat.
I have further tried to install the EVE Windows-version under wine with WineBottler and CrossOver - both unsuccessful. Whine crashes when entering game - might be the DirectX thing.
I thought that the EVE-client uses the browser-functions from the operating system to receive the pictures, but in the MAC-EVE-Wine-Wrap is no browser included, and in the registry it is IE6 defined. |

We have found something, but it is still being investigated. Should have a solution by mid March not mid Feb as stated above.
The interim solution Konflikt is referring to was to revert to the previous situation which meant users downloading too many avatar images but that isn't being implemented unless a proper solution is deemed infeasible. CCP Gangleri | Senior Tester

The interim solution Konflikt is referring to was to revert to the previous situation which meant users downloading too many avatar images but that isn't being implemented unless a proper solution is deemed infeasible. The picture problem has not been fixed and the mid February 1.2 Crucible patch is a Nightmare that makes the game unplayable. For the record all the symptoms i have experienced have been long logged in Mac threads i discovered by going back and reading them, seems like you actually never solve Mac issues. Players come up with work arounds or quit. I never even complained about the loss of pictures because I knew it would not rise to the level of someone actually fixing it because it didn't impact revenues for CCP in a major way. When the patch made the game unplayable for me I discovered these Mac forum threads and if you ignore the dates they all seem current same problems again and again. Extremely disheartening that every patch and update Mac users have to experience disasters. I would never have started this game if you had been honest and said the Mac playability was questionable and poorly supported, CCP claimed Mac compatibility and i was foolish enough to believe you guys.
Truly a poor showing CCP. |

Bit late to the party here. Reported as a bug but didn't bother posting this earlier because it seemed like there were bigger problems other people had post-Crucible. Sounds like a possible fix is in the works, but a little more data won't hurt.
Problem since: Jan 24th OSX: 10.6.8 2006 Mac Pro, dual-quad procs 6GB memory ATI 5770
Cache clearing: Helps briefly. What seems to happen is that a certain # of small portraits in chat load, then no more. Right after a cache clear I can get big portraits in Get Info, but that breaks down quickly. Same problem after, portraits don't load in small or big or bigger, and the full-body character viewer loads with screwy textures.
As well as repeatedly clearing the cache, I have run the patch/repair hash checker, which did nothing but remove a few empty folders inside the app directory, and made no difference to the portrait problem. I also combed through the Console records looking for potential issues, and found nothing I could associate with Eve.
I'm pretty comfortable doing stuff in Console and Terminal, so if there's any additional data I can get for you please mail me and ask. As an owner of an older machine I may encounter issues that testers with new and shiny models won't. |

Yes, I got the launcher to work on Sisi and participated in the mass test of March 8 (on an alt).
The trick was the client would go for the "eve online" folder in application support irrelevant of what you edited into the info.plist file. The fix I used was to just rename my "eve onlinesisi" folder to "eve online". (Yes I saved the old one).
What this means is the launcher should work just fine tomorrow. But if you use the clone maker and try to get each clone to use a different folder in Application Support there may be issues. I am running for the CSM. Take a look at my ideas. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Yea, i filed a new bug report on this 20 days ago or so ago, and it got changed from the "Mac" category to "Transgaming" by someone at CCP and has sat "Not Filtered" now ever since. I assume that means "hey we said we fixed it, so it's someone else's problem now". Or it's just more of the complete lack of customer service when it comes to game bugs as usual from CCP. |

So it's now been 2.5 months since this update from you guys, 1.5 months past your estimate fix date, and several patches latter. Are we to assume that a "proper solution" was not discovered and Konflicts solution is also not valid? Or have ya'll completely given up on this? Now we escalate to Inferno, next step is the Purgatorio... no hope until Paradisio.... their client service is not a Divine comedy, it's just a bad joke !!! |

Got the Probleme too since ... Febuary I think ... but it's not only with Pictures of Players and Agents, also with most Alliance Logos (it seems like every Alliance Logo that was created since Dezember'11 is affected)

The new patch... is loading people's portraits. If I Show Info on a toon with a blank portrait it loads! Even the large "close-up" loads!
Whoever figured that out, thank you!

All new patches seem to force pics to load for about an hour or so (they must clear the cache). Give it time, they will stop working as normal, mine did. |

No, that's the amazing thing. I haven't seen the portraits load when I showed info on a toon for months... possibly even in all of 2012, but I can't exactly remember. That's new behavior, and it's not cache-clearing, because these are people who log in, or appear in Local, after I've had the game running for awhile.
They fixed something. I'm not sure what, but it's a real difference on my machine. |

Every time I clear cache, the pic load back
BUT until the next time client freeze, pic never load again, it have to clear cache again, and looping...
I think the problem between client freeze and pic won't load have some kind of connection. |

I honestly do appreciate being able to play this game on my Mac, yet I find this issue irritating, perhaps even disturbing.
If it isn't too much trouble, would one of the developers please speak to where we are with the issue of not being able to load portraits. Not since February has this thread had input from a Dev (if there is another thread on this issue that I've missed, I apologize).
Like others, i've experienced this issue for what seems like forever (January) and like others clearing cache temporarily solves the issue for a short while.
Are there any leads? Is there any other information I can (we could) provide you? Is there anything I could try?
I can't speak for everyone but, as some have alluded, I feel this issue really takes away from the environment and game play.
I'll conclude by saying this issue is becoming a bit like the flickering TV set. It still turns on, it still works, only the image tends to flicker. So you hit it repeatedly and it works for a little while but it is never really fixed.

If it helps, my bug report was almost immediately "Attached to a defect" so they are aware. I would recommend to sure to file a bug report as well. |

Well The portrait thing has been going on a long time and looks like across most hardware and 10.6 10.7. The portraits load when you first log on in that system then stops. Players entering systems do not load and when you travel to another system those don't load. All you get is what is already cached, but not always even that. Agents load in your docked station then nothing. The problem appears to worsen over time but I think this is just perception. I think it is almost instant after you log in images do not load beyond what loads logging in. Hope this helps. i3 21 iMac 12g ram |

Oh, well. It was fun while it lasted.
Now, in addition to extremely sporadic loading of portraits after launch, my own portrait doesn't load. Whee.
I suppose I'll file it as a bug the next time I'm on. It really isn't that big a deal, but it's annoying. |

I haven't gotten to play too much this last week but it seems to be working!
Now the question is (I may take bets on this) did they fix it proper and just don't care enough to put all the Mac fixes in the patch notes? (2-1 odds) Or was this a random line of code for something else that unintentionally fixed a bug, because you know... CCP? (3-1 odds). |
