Yes i admit it, i'm an empire carebear, i have tons of billions of isk, expensive ships etc and i never leave the comfortable and well-protected high security spac. Many hate me for this, and dislike me because i don't try to ruin another guy's day on a regular basis, by killing his ship or whatever. When people see me, they have a desire to kill my expensive fitted navy raven and pod me, in order to get all that expensive implants out of my head ... i can almost feel all the hate towards me, just because i'm a carebear.
But despite of that, i dare to ask the devs to give me a little longterm motivation to stay a carebear: Dear devs, please give me something to spend my isk on, other than buying ships and lose them in battels. I like to play the industry and market side of the game. I like to do tons of isk with missions ... but i don't see any challenge anymore: why making more isk when i can't spend it (outside pvp). For example: allow us to buy npc corporation shares, so that i and other carebears can play some kind of eve-monopoly, (who gets the most shares from caldari navy ?). Let us buy the shares from NPC corps or from missionrunners (who get them in exchange for lp) and list the top 10 shareholders of a npc corp in the corp info, so that we have a competition for fame and financial strenght or something like this ... give us carebears some love, dear CCP.

You need to set your own goals in eve, the devs arent going to do it for you.
Eve is a Multiplayer game, so surprisingly most of the high end goals you set need to involve other players, perhaps youve just reached the limit to what a solo player can do in a Multiplayer game

It is a war game. The economy is a war economy. The civilian, industrial portions of the game are just there to fuel the constant fighting. If you don't want to get involved in that at all, then eventually you will run out of interesting things to do.

When walking in stations arrives, I think you'll be able to gamble your ISK! You'll be playing against other players, but it could still appeal to carebears.

Edited by: cal nereus on 06/11/2007 06:30:20 The devs are not going to set goals for you to accomplish. It is up to you to set your own goals. If you don't think your current set of goals are cutting it, you may want to re-think a lot of things.
What do you want from this game? How can you best accomplish what you want?
In my case, I generally want to have fun, specifically by being an ever increasingly valuable asset to my corporation and alliance. I want to be able to make a difference in a number of different ways, not just in combat but also in my community. Another one of my goals is self-sufficiency: If I take a huge hit, either in ship losses or in finances, I want to be able to bounce right back and continue fighting. I also generally want to provide other players with the opportunity to have a positive gaming experience, and attract like-minded, mature players to hang out with me (I'm lonely, and need someone to talk to sometimes). Posting on the Eve-Online forums is actually one method of accomplishing some of my goals. ---

Actually, I think thats a great idea. I was sort of stunned when I picked this game up and then learned that no stock market of any sort existed. I figured that since they were 'corporations' and were far to big to be closely held corporations, that there would be a robust trade market on shares of NPC corps, complete with reinvestments and dividends paid. It would give mission runners incentive to run for a particular npc corp. If one corps mission runners are highly successful (and these can be combat/mining/trade/courier missions) then that corps shares gain value. It would be an opportunity to play one corp off another, say 'do x mission for this corp against this corp' your corp gains while the other loses stock value.
There could be real potential for fun there, and it would be a refreshing addition to EVE.

Get hobby. Start collecting BPO's. Get 'em all. All (approx) 700 of them (just T1 stuff). Then start building from them (trying to make profit). And when there is nothing left for you to do then liquidate and hire MC on your greatest enemy for as long as you can afford.

Use those billions of isk to fund mercs to blow up random targets for the fun of it. Pay people to let you pod them (LOL). Try to buy up Player Corp's stocks for outragious prices and then vote them into wars with big evil Corps (LOL!). Or take on the ultimate carebear goal of them ALL. Form a Marketeer Guild of massive perportion. Buy EVERYTHING sold at too low a price in the entire region and jack all the prices of sold goods way up and never allow anything to be sold for less between you and all your guild mates, BE the Market! Or fulfill some of the wishes here and dump several bil isk on some random player and watch them get screwed over because someone figures them an Isk Buyer. +++++++++++++++ I saw the Sign...!

Highsec is the newbie starting area.
You are in the kiddie pool asking why it has no room for your legs.
You should not be living there in the first place.
I hate it when veteran players in CNR's sit in highsec taking up bandwidth. There should NOT be any level 3's or level 4's in highsec.
You do not f*cking belong there, you are taking up resources meant for new players and I would gladly kill your CNR just to drive the point home.

Buy a load of T1 BPOS, start a production empire and try to form a monopoly for a set of products at a single region or constellation depending on your assets.
There's loads of things to play around with in empire... ___ P.S. Post with your main. Mind control and tin hats |

...And there should be no sad self-righteous brats like you at Eve at all. I hate it when I see arrogant morons telling that anyone who isn't playing Eve as Counterstrike In Space is playing Eve in "wrong way". The true carebears in this game aren't in highsec but in lowsec camping for easy kills, and whining to CCP (or making yet more hypocritical "for sake of gameplay balance"- posts) when they can't get enough such easy kills.

That's a bit extreme...
Anyway, I'd say you were prime to venture south along the security ratings. Eve has many games within it. Maybe you should try something completely off the wall like maybe trying to establish your own little market monopoly on CN Scourge Missiles out of the station in X-70MU or some place similar.
Just because it's 0.0 doesn't mean you have to fight if it's not your thing. Be inventive and maybe have some fun trying to sneak in and out of there without getting caught. Sure to make decent money on it and I'm sure you have the LP to spare.
Just think of it as a buisness venture. Get a jump clone, a cheap cloaker, and weigh the possible loss versus the possible gains. What can it hurt? 1 day training without +4s? Pssh, who cares?
Anyway, I don't think CCP needs to add even more reasons to stay in empire. Not when there's tons of unused game play as it is. I think you just need a change of scenery.

He may have put it a bit harshly, but he's basically right. There's already too much empire content. CCP has basically screwed the pooch and made 0.5+ space way too appealing as it is.
Making it even more appealing, and hence causing even more new players to stack up in the small areas for even longer periods, would be an epic level mistake. I refer you to the numerous Saila, Motsu, Jita lag threads that are so common.
