Not if they implement the queue only working on ACTIVE accounts.
I'd rather have a skill queue than have skills train when account inactive. -------------------------------------------

At most you lose what, 1,000? 5,000 sp max? most of the time due to unexpected server downtimes? not exactly the biggest loss is the world tbh. Wouldn't mind skill queues but would rather have bugs fixed more tbh. /DeadRow

Let skills continue training until they hit level 5. No skill queue as such, and no use to the mythical character farmer as it only increases maximum offline time by 25%. Would that really be so bad?

Actually, the devs have stated several times that they've thought this over several times, and they're not opposed to it, as long as it was only 2 skills. They obviously don't want someone queing up a years skills, and not paying for that year. Maybe tie the skill Que into the payment system, so it's only active if the account is active.
This way you could have 2 skills training. 1 say a 12 hr one, and the second something long(EG: Battleship 5) that way you could set the 12 hr one, and 12hrs later it would finish, and the BS5 one would start training after.
This would be good for 2 things. Those days where you need a shorter skill trained, but just don't have the time to be on, and it would allow you to keep skills going longer through downtimes/crashes.
The smart folks would always have whatever they wanted trained right away, being trained currently, and they would leave some really long one going as the 2nd skill, so if they do miss some time, the long one keep starts training.
I feel it'll come eventually. But it's obviously not a priority, and it's obviously still somewhat of a controversy at CCP. I'd be happy with 2 skills training either back to back, or concurrently(splitting the training between them at a slower rate.)

Just plan ahead, or lose a minute amount of training time. Easy.
The next person to whine about losing a few SP should be banned for a day. ... just as a short skill ends training, for great justice.

Heres an idea, how about CCP give every1 a new skill called "Offline Training". and whenever server is down due to a problem, they will automaticaly put all the chars who dont have a skill going on this "offline training" skill, and when ppl will login back they will just select a normal skill for training, and it will recieve the SP from the offline training skill.
??? !!!

I dont agree with queueing, but you should be able to set the training to a certain level - ie if you just learened Shield Management - you could right click on it and select "Train to level 4" and it would continuously train it to IV. Of course only if the account is active to avoid abuse. -------

As someone who frequently mis-times skill finishes or forgets that I left a short one training the night before;
I vote NO for this.
Leave it as-is, there is no compelling reason to change this, nor is there any other game in the world that allows you to train skills offline.
If you are unable to manage your offline skill training, practice more.

A skill training queue is the most overdue feature in this game.
So what if inactive accounts continue to train? That sounds like a bug to me. Just fix it.
For the love of FSM, let us train a short skill followed by a long skill (2 skills is plenty if you ask me). Why is it so difficult? Why is there any opposition whatsoever? It continues to astound me. -- Support fixing the EVE UI | Suggest Jita fixes

Please if you dont understand the definition of a term dont use it. It makes you look like an idiot especially when you are attempting to smack someone. A queue system would allow people to progress characters WITHOUT paying CCP. How many people would pay for an alt account if they could train it up for free

It's difficult because it takes developer time to implement this. Developer time spend on this equals less time spend on more important issues (maybe if the devs didn't have to spend time reading posts about this they would have caught on to database security issues sooner).
There is opposition because it's not that hard to plan your skills. There are plenty of third party skill planners and reminder apps that will send you and email or SMS or something when you need to switch skills. Or simply don't plan a skill that will finish seconds after the servers should be back up.
How often is there unplanned downtime? How long is it usually? Not very often, not very long.
