Linux:
- Client does not notice when connection is lost and therefore does not properly close. In rare occasions the client will become non-responsive, black screen and need to be closed manually.[/*][/list=a]
- When client closes to apply a patch after automatically downloading it, using the autopatcher, the screen resolution from game stays. This can easily be fixed by pressing CTRL, ALT, + or by using the command $ xrandr -s RESOLUTION (ie 1024x768)
- When running Synergy underlying windows, such as terminals, take focus instead of the login screen when trying to enter username and password.
- Keyboard input has wrong behavior when the keyboard layout switcher program called xneur is active
- Client installed on Ubuntu might blackscreen when trying to run the game. Switching the Audio to OSS solves this issue. Here are instructions how to switch from ALSA to OSS http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=402
- Firefox will open and place itself in the foreground when clicking Account management at the log in screen.
- There is a graphical anomaly with mining lasers and explosions when Color depth is at 24 bits and Depth stencil format is at 32-bit-8bit stencil. Changing Color depth to 24-bit with 8-bit alpha solves that issue.
- Tooltips for multi user and single user install options in Linux installer are swapped.
If you find new issues. Please bug report them. Here: https://bugs.eve-online.com/newbugreport.asp? Feedback on the deployment can be posted here: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=630549

This solution does not work if the sound solution is USB external based. Alsa/OSS fail on eve config tests if an external sound card/usb head set is "default".

The installation method is sub optimal. It should be a single file that the user runs without the need for any special environment vars set. It should also add icons to either my GNOME menu's or desktop. You can find information about how to do this in a standard way here. http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-spec/latest/
Also, it is my understanding (from a user perspective) that EVE wraps Cedega, not the other way around. As such the .cedega directory is not wanted as I installed EVE, not Cedega. Maybe install into it's own directory?
I've not had much EVE time this week, so hopefully I can post some constructive comments about the actual game itself later :) --- Gentoo/FreeBSD/Linux developer |

Edited by: UberL0rd on 09/11/2007 14:01:09 Picking nits, but the Linux requirements section does not specify CPU type. Does this mean that if I can put a supported nVidia PCI card in my Ultra 60 (2x450Mhz Sparc64 CPU's) I can expect it to work if it runs a supported Linux? --- Gentoo/FreeBSD/Linux developer |

Edited by: roigon on 10/11/2007 01:39:13 Found a bug, perhaps its already been mentioned somewhere, but i couldn't find it.
The market price history is missing its text it seems. picture of how it looks
I primarily a trader so while not impossible to work around, it is kinda annoying. So any tips on of fixing it trough settings would be very much appreciated.
Do i also need to create a bug report or is just mentioning it here good enough? never mind, its right there in the starting post.

Yup.
That and blue box (positive standing) don't show in either chat char list, nor overview.
Copy URL (right-click context menu on link in chat) does not work - I cannot paste that into Firefox for example.
All of the above do work when running on std wine.

I've got some graphical problems after installation of the new Linux-client. After the splash screen, I only see white bars instead of the license agreement. I already tried to fix this by disabling the vertex shader-option in the configuration, but it does not help. I'm using Ubuntu 7.10, got a nvidia graphics controller and enabled the restricted nvidia driver.

I've noticed that after an hour or so of play, the game will suddenly almost-hang (a few frames a minute at best). I have to kill -9 the processes to quit the game. Eve is then fine again after restarting.
This is on Gentoo/AMD64, with 1GB of memory (just in case it might be a memory leak or something).

I'm seeing a slow "leak" on my system using the cedega fps/memory meter. On a 2 gig rig, after several hours it will increase to a little over a gig of ram (with a couple other apps in the background).
If you are on 1 gig to start with, that is probably the issue....its starting to swap out, and that's gonna slug things out. I would make sure to close other apps out and run EVE as close to "solo" as possible, as well as turning on the "meters" via the config options tab under "general".
You can very easily see the slow memory increase with this as you play, and if you get close to your physical memory limit, you can close the client and restart rather than run into issues when you least need to.

I have all the issues above, except for the zooming issue. That actually works for me. Although the rectangle and the white gates are there. White gates happen frequently, sometimes "permanently" and sometimes just when watched at a certain angle.

I've taken to restarting the client at suitable points anyway, but I'll try the meters to see if they make it easier to judge when. Thanks.

I have noticed this problem on Cedega, More jump you do, more laggy you will be :) After many jump, your rig will take time to load and the FPS will be very low :)
I never have this problem under Wine and don't know the solution.

At least you guys can play. I installed it, It worked once. I changed the resolution, game crashed and hasn't worked since. I get the splash screen, it goes away, then nothing.

have you tried finding the config file and setting the resolution back to its previous or default value?
