Well I always ran EVE with Wine and didnt have a problem , so I wanted to test the all new Linux client . 1st thing : I ignores my prefs.ini (at least concerning tech resolution ) so instead of having a 1280*768 resolution it starts with 1024*768. So I wanted to change this in the options menu ( hit esc ... ) i click close window and i find myself on the desktop. Tried this several times always with he same result. Then i tried just to open the options menu and close it without touching a thing and it still crashes.
Anyone got a solution maybe ? ( besides using wine ;) )
Oh yeah I'm punished with a ATI graphics card.
edit: seems as if i cant login either stop at entering game as nim... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nimtras Startsript - The fastes way to start Quickfit on Linux ( oh yeah gotta love ads ;) ) |

I got exactly the same issue with both, the client login-screen starting with 1024x768 resolution instead of 1600x1200 as my desktop and the crash after trying to change the resolution on the escape menu. I temporary solved the issue of crashing with starting the client in cedega windowed mode. I than changed the resolution ingame and switched back to fullscreen mode. However, the login screen still starts with 1024x768 which is really annoying espacially when you do not like to instantly connect. I also tried to manually change the resolution back to 1600x1200 while at the login-screen, but then the client crashed again.

Exact same problem here, can't get the resolution above 1024x768 no matter what I try. Always crashes to desktop when I close the options menu.
Also, while I'm posting, the colors seem strangely washed out... stands out big-time on my character profile which has a bright backlight.

Here's what I'm using and I have no crashes:
Eve Online Configuration: "Run in window": either select prefered resolution or type it in (I did the latter - "1680x1050" for example).
In Eve settings graphics tab I set it to Fullscreen and chose the same resolution as above for "Adapter Resolution".
My hardware: GeForce Go 7900 GS
with Ubuntu 7.10 and restricted Ubuntu nvidia driver

Edited by: Nimtra on 08/11/2007 14:53:24 Well Crashes in windowed mode for me too . on whine i run it windowed too but there it recognizes my resolution (1280 * 768 so i can see the task bar ) . In cedega i can only switch to 1280*800. So its still wine for me i guess. ( for those who wanna try ... 0.9.44 is the last version that ran eve correctly ) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nimtras Startsript - The fastes way to start Quickfit on Linux ( oh yeah gotta love ads ;) ) |

I have the same problem, it seems to be caused by the latest ati drivers. If i use the older drivers included by my distribution i can switch resolutions just fine but get heavy corruption on character pictures.

You can edit in any resolution you want in "Configure EVE Online" -> "Configire Options" -> "Run in Window".
The select Fullscreen in Eve graphics settings and Adapter Resolution the same as above.
