Your card is not supported, but you can try Wine. I have tested it on my Intel 945!

Can you give me the output of this command : glxinfo | grep direct ?
Also your card is not supported but with more debugging information, I will be able to help you.

I had the identical problem on a fresh install of Kubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon. I downloaded the latest nvidia binaries via Adept Package Manager then went into the restricted drivers manager and enabled the nvidia drivers. Rebooted and she worked.

don't waste your time with this linux installer. It is crap. If it does not work with ubuntu 7.10 with restricted drivers enabled there is little point. do yourself a favor install xp install eve and play.

You sir- are a troll.
To the rest: It works on Ubuntu with the restricted nvidia drivers on my machine - so if it does not on yours it's a specific problem. I used the .deb package to install. I have no sound - used to work months ago and is probably a problem with my alsa config.
If you have black window after splash set voiceenabled=0 and perhaps audio=0 in prefs.ini (in "~/.cedega/EVE Online/c_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/settings").
YMMV

I have Ubuntu gusty. My laptio is a toshiba sattelite (i forget what modle). I downloaded and installed the EVE linux client yesturday morning, and worked for me. My video card is an ATX (i forget what spacific modle). The only thing I have an issue with is choppy graphics and the game freezing on me. I chock it up to hard ware issues. I tried the windows client through both cedega and wine, and it didn't work. But, the linux client does work... kinda.

If your soundcard is in use eve will hang on startup, it would just start and hang at a black splash screen for me. Try shutting down all programs using audio and/or the sound daemon, however the latter should auto release the sound card devices if you're not using the daemon.
you can check if anything is using the sound card by opening a terminal and typing :
lsof /dev/snd/*
this should show you either nothing or just that the mixer applet is using something called mixer or something. then try to start eve again.

Ubuntu 7.10 and not a problem here. I run Eve on a laptop with a GeForce Go 6200 TurboCache. It worked on 7.04 too. I just have to kill Compiz and AvantWindowNavigator before launching the game, or else performance is too poor.
But I'm a cheater, and I use Crossover with the Windows client. ---- --- -- - I don't use a signature... |
