I lose alot of ships. fair nuff. thats the game. you win some you lose some. BUT, the fact that I have now lost 2 ships (200-300 mil roughly) and a half set of low grade slave implants to hidden (not visible on ui) timers, gets me a little bit ****ed off.
Heres the two cases where I've encountered these close to outrages game mechanics.
Case 1.
After shooting down some poor mission-runners in my hurricane. I docked because I wanted to get some coffee, read the forum and most of all; wait out the criminal countdowns. some time after I left, I return with no criminal flagging visible. I undock in this perfectly empty system and my girlfriend gets my attention (something about cloth), one minut later I look at the screen looking at my pod. .... what happened was, that because I, when there were about 10 minutes left of my criminal flagging, change ships and change back again, not knowing it reset my criminal flagging without it appearing on my screen(It still showed something less than 10 minutes). the sentry guns opened fire at me upon undocking.
Case 2.
I jump through a gate in my vagabond to find myself in the middle of a 10 man gate camp. I chose to return to the gate with my engines at blaze which works fine most of the time it should seem. getting 2500 meters into range of the gate is no problem, doubt anyone has even locked me yet, click the jump button on my overview. .... the "session change in progress" message pops up, which is repeated about 5-6 times before I find myself outside jump range and now I can,t even see my own ship now that 10mil webifiers has caught my butt in a falsh of blue light. A GM now tells me that there is a "session change in progress" timer which is activated upon jump in. bleh!
Another GM has enlighted some other timers which is not shown anywhere but we will have to stay aware of. they are as following: Docking, undocking, jumping through a stargate, switching ships (going into your pod after being destroyed counts) or joining a gang also reset the counter.
tbh.. something is not right here!

I dunno, Arana, I didn't know about the ship-change-resets-agression-timer thing. That would be something unpleasant to learn of accidentally.

Yeah, you hafta watch the timers. Best thing to do is glance at the clock, and then give yourself 5 extra minutes.
Not surprised about the gatecamp though. if it's any kind of large camp, the lag will keep you from jumping out.
Incidentally, you're likely to get more sympathy if, instead of saying this:
Quote: I undock in this perfectly empty system and my girlfriend gets my attention (something about cloth)
You say something like this:
Quote: I undock in this perfectly empty system and my girlfriend gets my attention (she was naked! b00b13s! )
Just sayin'.

anyone in a fast nanoed ship should know about the jumpback timer
its the same as the redock timer, and the board ship timer...etc.
when you jump into a camp...you gotta sit there and count to like 15 or so....but dont count too long.

I would gladly accept it if it wasn't so random OR if we could actually have that timer showing.. this "feature" is well known to me... and it seems that some times its completly random. I mean how can it be that sometimes I can warp 50AU's to another gate and still get that session change message? and why is it thati can sometimes return to the gate and jump instantly? ________________________________________________

I'll catch a global criminal countdown in my 'ceptor every now and then, warp in and quickly dock up so I can go afk for a few. I'll come back and watch the timer finish counting down and possibly give it a few extra minutes while I play on my alt char or something...
But as soon as I undock, I get insta aggro to the station and get dropped to half structure. No timers visible and I didn't change ships. Happens fairly often, and I've just learned to have an insta warp bookmark since a corpmate who flies AF's has lost a few to this with just a "We're sorry, you had aggro" from CCP. Of course he had aggro...after the station guns opened up for no reason!!
It's just another annoying thing to live with in lowsec. ____________________ Hi. I'm not an alt :) |

If the station 'sees' you (as it does when you come to dock) but cannot fire on you (because you are in the few seconds docking process) it seems to reset the aggro timer (only for the station) WITHOUT actually reseting the visual counter.
Thus you should give it 15 mins from when you docked - not what the clock says.
ITs an infuriating bug but whats new there

When your ship is destroyed the aggression timer restart to allow enemyes to lock the pod and kill it even if you have used control-q before the ship destruction.
Probably changing ship has the same effect, so it is possible that the same aggression time could be kept open constantly changing ships.
The question is if it work both way, i.e. player X has fired on me and I have fired back, I dock and change ship, my timer is reset, but that of player X is still running normally or the change of my target status has changed his timer too?
It could be the explanation of some strange killright can flippers sometime get.

I think the OPs point is that anytime you have a timer on you, the game needs to indicate this fact to the player no matter where they are.
For example, not having the aggro counters visible in 0.0 is just stupid.

true.. thats half the point of this post.. the other half is pure frustrations
its not because theres anything very complex to adding a countdown, tho I am starting to wonder if its because CCP is afraid of the amount of reimbursement petitions that will arise now we can actually see the timer and say: "there and there I got shot at without a rightful timer visible" ________________________________________________

there should be, i reckon, permanently visible aggro/criminal flag etc.. indicators in the interface, rather than the flaky text message that might or might not be there. Only needs to be something small, a little row of lights in the center panel or something

That's extremely good news!
Now what about all the other invisible timers? Any chance of getting all timers made visible?

Seems trinity is the UI gift from gods though. Nice enough.
I'm still rather worried and wondering about if and what exactly is happening regarding "not being able to pay close to 300 euro for computer update" and playing with old graphics.
Same stuff as all, just no shiny graphics? Same ships, no UI, no graphics?
Also about when is the "deadline" to update graphics, or is there even need to do so.

This has happened to me on more than one occasion. I wait out m criminal countdown, and even go afk for a half hour. I come back, undock, warp to gate to a high sec system. Before jumping, countdown "magically" resets as i click the jump button. I get through the gate, only to be concorded on the other side.
I've petitioned it and got some automated bull**** answer that "the countdown timer wasn't expired, and if you failed to heed that warning your ship will be blown up."
CCP's customer servic on case 1 is very poor, and they refuse to admit the countdown timer is broken in a few lo-secs.
Case 1 didnt, by any chance, happen in Tama did it? ________________________________

I lol'd so hard - GCC sentry death after blowing up some "poor mission runners"!
I understand it wasn't visible, which sucks, but the irony involved is just hilarious. The misison runniner not being able to see you there, you not being able to see the timer... both of you ****ed that you lost your ships... do you see the parallels?

If you look around you should be able to find a "compatible" graphics card (gForce 6000 series or Radeon X1000 series) for about $50USD.

Yes, that one. Everyone gets the new UI.
