Session timers are bugged tbh... they've never cost me a ship, but it is still annoying to randomly not be able to un-dock, warp to gate, jump, in a system I frequent and do so very often... about 1-in-20 times I'll get the "session change in progress" cripe... _ . - Justice, Mercy, and Faith My soul has horizons further away than those of early mornings, deeper darkness than the night |

While its not something that I have problems with, I do feel that ALL pvp related timers should be VISIBLE (although an option to make them invisible is not unreasonable....)
If I have 5 timers going for 5 different things that are related to pvp in anyway I should SEE THEM on my screen, along with a lable on each saying what it is for.
"Pvp related timers" are not just ones related to shooting. They also include ANY timer that prevents docking and jumping for ANY reason.
Play nice while you butcher each other.

I lost a freighter to this "hidden timer" feature.
apparently after webbing my freighter with an in-corp alt, it decided that I got to sit-in space for 15 minutes after logging. needless to say freighter and pod were turned to dust :/
anyway, although annoying (very annoying) and should be fixed, it would be nice if the devs would at least come out and list every single action that will give you a timer.

Im very glad you lost your freighter. It's there for noobs like you who try avoid any bit of pvp by logging off.

at some point i agree with you Sarah, but what if the one logging off actually had to go somewhere and there therefor were forced to log off, they deserve a visible timer so that they can see when its safe to log out.. tho i greatly doubt that is the case. ________________________________________________

one of the GM's I talked to put it this way. "aggressive actions will reset the aggression countdown" (this is not the exact way he put it), but how the hell can changing ships be aggressive? ________________________________________________

you should be more worried about this than loosing a few ships...

Originally by: techzer0 I'll catch a global criminal countdown in my 'ceptor every now and then, warp in and quickly dock up so I can go afk for a few. I'll come back and watch the timer finish counting down and possibly give it a few extra minutes while I play on my alt char or something...
But as soon as I undock, I get insta aggro to the station and get dropped to half structure. No timers visible and I didn't change ships. Happens fairly often, and I've just learned to have an insta warp bookmark since a corpmate who flies AF's has lost a few to this with just a "We're sorry, you had aggro" from CCP. Of course he had aggro...after the station guns opened up for no reason!!
It's just another annoying thing to live with in lowsec.
We call that "station payback".
CCP either doesnt understand that it exists, or gets a good laugh out of it.
At the very least its an user interface bug.

Its about time CCP did something about it. this is direkt questions to CCP. why does the timer reset when you do a very not threatning thing as changing ships, and will all the hidden timers get visible in trinity? ________________________________________________

After shooting down some poor mission-runners in my hurricane. I docked because I wanted to get some coffee, read the forum and most of all; wait out the criminal countdowns. some time after I left, I return with no criminal flagging visible. I undock in this perfectly empty system and my girlfriend gets my attention (something about cloth), one minut later I look at the screen looking at my pod. .... what happened was, that because I, when there were about 10 minutes left of my criminal flagging, change ships and change back again, not knowing it reset my criminal flagging without it appearing on my screen(It still showed something less than 10 minutes). the sentry guns opened fire at me upon undocking.
I lol'd so hard - GCC sentry death after blowing up some "poor mission runners"!
I understand it wasn't visible, which sucks, but the irony involved is just hilarious. The misison runniner not being able to see you there, you not being able to see the timer... both of you ****ed that you lost your ships... do you see the parallels?
No I dont see the parallel. On death was withing the rules of a PVP game, one death was down to shoddy programming.

Looking at your sig - you probably wont be able to read this :)
But you dont think its bad that you have to 'play around' in game bugs, rather then get them fixed?

Ok, for the first case: don't know why but for some strange reason when you dock the timer goes into pause/reset mode until you undock. I learned this the hard way, I docked watched the timer go to zero and then undocked and the timer reset to what it was when I docked. I finally learned to sit outside the station and wait until the timer went to zero then docked got a new ship and no more issues.
As for the second case: I want a jump gate timer that sounds like bogus bull. ________________________

I have a cheap stopwatch on my desk that I use to time post-jump uncloaking and session change timer so I don't get stuck humping the gate with 10 seconds left on the timer.

heh.. its seems that way. but whats the purpose of this "feature". making some randomness in a game which is made to be a fine balance between players skills and the stuff they use (ships, mods, implant etc etc)... theres no room for hidden features. ________________________________________________
