Edited by: Loike on 11/11/2007 14:18:18 N.B.: This is more an observation than a whine, and for the record this has never happened to me.
--------------------------------------
This has to due with GMs taking VAST amounts of isk from people after selling GTCs.
Situation Currently Player A is selling 10 30D GTC's for 200mil. ($15 each, so hes spent $150) Player B(name: etwtv352g) wants to buy all 10 securely Player A sets everything up and Player B Claims.
Player A is down $150 but has made 2 Billion ISK.
<several days pass>
Player A has spent most of his money on new toys he has 500mil left in his wallet.
GM decides Player B(name: etwtv352g) is an ISK seller and hence Player A's ISK is tainted.
GM removes ISK from Player A.. leaving him $150 DOWN and effectivley he got nothing for his $150 his wallet reads (-1,500,000,000), now Player A is in the negative and can't contract(10k setup fee).. put on market(tax) or even trade window(you NEED +0.00 isk to transfer).. So he cant even sell his new shinies..
--------------------------------------
Instead of screwing Player A why don't you just remove the gametime from Player B as its done securely you know where the GTCs went...
--------------------------------------
[/observation end]

AFAIK, in most cases, when this has happened, and the GTCs were transfered using the secure method, by petitioning and escalating the petition enough ISK was usually returned... again, just AFAIK. It's a case of mild GM carelessness, IMHO... not checking the TYPE of ISK transfer from known ISK sellers, just the fact ISK was transfered at all, and doing mass ISK "deletions".

actually it has only happened once, every other whine thread saying it has proven to be false "well it happened to my friend" falsehoods where no secure method was used.

If the trade is secure, it won't be reversed. If this happens, it is because the secure system was not used.

I have to say, when I do every now and then splurge on one or two, I sell them to people I am fairly sure are real players and not part of an isk laundering operation.

i dont think anyone is saying that. but there's been numerous posts on this, and most of them have had vague details and in the end seem to be fishy, so people are wary as to yet another story.
if there was a problem, and it was secure, escalate the petition. good luck.

Agreed. It all happened to their "friend" and none of them are willing to divulge any details.

Of course I am not saying that; nobody is flawless. The fact of the matter is that we do not reverse such transactions. If this does happen, however, then the correct venue for discussion on the matter is through the petition system. If there was a legitimate time code trade, then the ISK will be returned. Anyone that claims that their secure time code trade was reversed and that the GM's refused to return the ISK however, is not being completely truthful.

Maybe don't sell GTCs to Quan McIskfarmer?
Perhaps the seller should be beware too, eh?
You know, maybe be smart with his $150 investment.

I'd make a article on how to avoid them, if it wasn't already so easy to do just BY LOOKING AT THE CHARACTERS.

Yes indeed. This happened quite often now and it is outragous!!
If CCP doesn't give you back the GTC (or alternatively the money for them) you can sue them. This is nothing else than stealing and no EULA will help CCP there.
The player can not know if the buyer got the isk legally or not. Offering the secure gtc trade method should exactly prevent that the seller paid RL money and got nothing in exchange!
The solution is quite clear to me and easy as well: CCP removes the illegally gained isk, removes the isk from the gtc seller of course as well - but then they must give back the gtc to the seller!
Also a statement of some officials about this problem (it is a problem, i read more and more topics about this!) would be nice to have.

If you know for a fact of any occasions where this has actually happened, not just forum speculation, then file a petition and we will look into it. Spreading rumors on the forums will not help you or anyone else in the slightest.

It is rather interesting how: it is always a victim's "friend" that comes and gives half-arsed story. We never get the story from the actual participant.
And, even if he is your "best friend in game," people lie all the time, even to their best friends, to save face, to make themselves feel better, etc, I know - shocking, isn't it?
I doubt very much CCP punishes people for LEGITIMATELY SELLING GTC, EVEN IF THEY WERE SOLD TO ISK FARMERS. SO LONG AS YOU FOLLOW RULES, AND ALWAYS USE SECURE METHOD, CCP WILL NOT MESS WITH YOU - EVEN IF ISK FARMERS BOUGHT YOUR STUFF, BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING WHO IS BUYING IT WITH 100% CERTAINTY!!!

Thank you for the fast response!
Actually I would like to link to the threads in the tradecode forum but the threads got moved because they were not fitting to that forum.
I know one friend for sure to whom this happened and I will inform him. It is not my intend to spread rumours at all.

Please indeed ask your friend to file a petition regarding this. All I can say is that I have not heard of any cases where these have been reversed. This is definitely something that does not happen 'quite often', if it happens at all.

Jesus, man, do you have a problem? I see you in every thread that has anything to do with ISK farming.
Your self-righteous attitude visa vis other players and who they interact with, in this case legally I might add (given the secure nature of GTC trades,) is extremely off putting.
To me your kind of like a whacked Christian that tells someone that they deserve some STD because they had sex out of wedlock.

The man does have a point.
And really people, you need to stop believing everything people claim about "THE GMS DID THIS TO ME AND IT WAS TOTALLY UNFAIR WOULDN'T YOU HATE IT IF IT HAPPENED TO YOU?" because without having both sides of the story you're just getting some whiny wound up guy in the middle of a fit of nerd rage.
You're never hearing what they did wrong or indeed much of what I'd consider reliable testimony because the GMs are professionally obligated not to comment.

Sorry to say
But I had my account (alt main) banned on friday they say that i recieved isk forom an isk seller / illicit GTC trade, but I use there Secure trade and why the fk would i jepodise my main????
They have taken 2.5bil from its wallet. I have sent in petitions, emails to ccp itself and guess what..........bugger all......
So GM's please do insult me by telling me you are lookin into it, cause you aint. I have sent in the last 6 months about ú1000 on GTC and they they do this. before anyones says anything I havea corp and i supply all my toons and corp with stuff aswell as the usual mining missioning, and its my money to do with what i like.
They have not even given me my codes back....so in my mind they have basically defrauded me of real money....and this is a criminal act and fk their EULA they have commited a crimal act.
And to be honest it dosent matter if it were secure trade or unsecure trade they have stolen rl money and I am sure thay do this all the time.
I have informed them of my intention tof aking this to court, (the leter is ready to go to a commercial lawyer). But as the usual ccp way fo doing this is FK the player who spend their own money to play this game. I have 6 accounts (all seperate), so they will lose this revenue once this is sorted. I dont buy or sell isk I look after my corp, toons and crpies and I want nice ship and stuff, hence the selling of GTC.
Remember CCP and the GM's do not care about the players of the game all they want is your money and then its FK you we got youre money now sod off we do what we like and there is nothing you can do about it, that what i beleive CCP and the GM's think of us all. I maybe wrong but i dont think so.
