Apparently, it's normal game mechanics for a POS owned by a corporation in an alliance to shoot another corporation in the same alliance if you set it to shoot pilots with less then 0.1 standings.
This same POS will let you use the Jump Bridge, and the Cyno Generator and enter forcefield, but will open fire when you are outside the forcefield.
It appears even though CCP introduced alliances to releave the endless standings game we had to deal with when there were no alliances in EVE, we still have to set all corporations to positive even if their alliances are set to positive or EVEN IF THE CORP IS IN YOUR OWN ALLIANCE.
If anyone thinks this is normal, you are a ******, including the GM's that told me it's "Normal Game Mechanics".
BTW. Currently, a Titan can blow up things in a POS forcefield if the pilot's corp owns the POS. That's normal game mechanics also, until only a couple months ago when they decided it wasn't.
Good Going CCP.

A$$ whole, did you even read what I said. When you see alliance members in local, do they show neutral or blue, or are you color blind? The pos will shoot alliance member.

Shouldn't be too hard to set all alliance corps to blue so the POS doesn't attack. I dont see much of a problem... my personal standing list towards people changes all the time just so I can see how many of w/e corp are in local... Takes >1 minute to change ____________________ Hi. Edited by: cal nereus on 13/11/2007 01:38:27 If you set your POS wrong, they'll shoot 'em. You shouldn't have set the POS to automatically shoot them. Set the friendly corporations to positive: it's more work, but that's what POSs are for right? More work? ---

its a point of view thing.
The way you describe it, the game mechanics for that pos are working normally with the way the owners have set it up.
What you big beef is that it is able to happen at all, which would be more along hte lines of lame game design and not the mechanics specifically.
As fars as the GM is concerned, that pos is supposed to do that when it is set up taht way. I.E. the mechanics for the pos are not bugging out and shooting you, they are coded to do so when the pos is set up that way.
your issue is that whoever designed this, wanted it that way. which the way you describe it is a bit iffy and probably not thought through entirely given players in your situation.
Dont bag on the GM, the game worked fine. its why it works that way that the GM wont be able to answer, but the dev in charge of that system might.
Your angst is directed at the wrong people. -----------------------------------------------

This...
It seems like a dumb mechanic but you really should have considered it.
Perhaps a nice constructive post in features and ideas about allowing you to set-up the POS AI in a more sensible manner would get you further than whining about it and insulting the staff in general.
Then again perhaps not, I do seem to see more dev interaction in here than in the development and ideas forums combined.

Just to point out the op is complaining about standings not sec status. AS mentioned above if you have it set to shoot neutrals you need to set your standings to the corps in your alliance, Didn't this come up at some point and they were going to fix it so you could just set standings toward the alliance and it would function as setting it for each corp. In my world it makes sense to read about the things you're working with, to keep bad things from happening. I guess it comes as habit with having to read MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) on chemicals I used to work with.
But Common Sense doesn't seem too prevelant on these forums, when it concerns Internet Spaceships eh? ____________________

I'm not quite convinced its a lack of common sense but more of a growing attitude to make Eve into AFK-Online.. Log in push a couple of buttons and make a few tens of billions of isk or blow up the invading fleet trying to kill your POS then log out to grind a few more levels of Wow..
