IF you have the right personal and corp(faction) standing you may be in luck. IF not then make changes to the standings screens in relationship to the agent. Also do missions for the agents corp at a lower / same agent level.
Of course the show info will show which special skills are required and at what level, they can be brought on the market (they are not as rare as they were ) or gained as rewards from lev3 agents. NB The skills have required Base skills . That is they need Level 5 Science or Engineering to train or Level 5 in another base skill such as Electronics.
Once you have the skills trained and the standing correct go to the agent andm ask to do research with them.
They hopefully say YES. Then you fly off. The contact you now and again to get items and do missions to allow the continuation of research. This can be a pain, but hey thats life . No pain no game. Wait for the research points to go up and hope to win the Research Point lottery to get a BP. You can refuse a Bp and carry on research.
Thats all I know so far ....

Step 1: train Science to level 5 Step 2: train Engineering, Electronics or Mechanic to level 5 Step 3: choose a tech2 science skill (eg graviton physics, rocket science, starship engineering etc) and train it to level 1 to start with. Step 4: choose an R&D agent. This can be a difficult decision. What you need to do is identify the highest quality level 3 agent in an R&D corp (eg Lai Dai, Kaalakiota). You then need to run missions for non R&D agents in the same corp until your corp standing is high enough to use this highest quality R&D agent. Training Connections and Negotiations skills (level 4 seems to have the best time/benefit ratio) will help with this. Step 5: Once you have the required corp/faction/personal standing, approach the agent of your choice and ask to start a research project. Step 6: Train the tech2 science skill up a few more levels.
There are a number of things that affect how many research points per day you will get. 1: your science skill level, the higher the better. 2: your agents science skill level (this skill has to be the same as your science skill), the higher the better. 3: the effective quality of your agent. This can be improved with the Connections and Negotiations skills.
Step 7: sit back and wait for the whining e-mail every day from your R&D agent --------------------------------------------- Engineers motto; If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks it needed replacing anyway. |
