From what i've heard they will cost somewhere around 6 million LP and some rare officer tags. It's so awsome, love ya CCP

Yes that's a good point. But i don't think it will be only 6 billion isk, the difficult thing will not be to grind up 6 million LP but those tags, which you need along with them. I didn't get 100% what my source was talking about, but he said something of new complexes with escalating paths, that leads to rooms with a rare officer spawn, and this tag would not drop each time but only on rare occasions, so it will be extremely rare and you will need several of them of diffrent pirate factions, if i uderstood him right, he was talking something about of three opposing pirate factions that every empire has, but not sure what he meant with this. Anyways, i guess we won't see many of that ships, it will remain a longterm goal for rich people or people who have good connection to the owner of the new complexes (i hope they won't be all in bob space).

I am in no position to comment on your source's past "reliability", since I have no clue about it... BUT... this one here sounds much more like an urban legend as an actual gameplay developement.
For starters, the LP costs in LP shops usually outweigh the tag/ISK costs by a fair margin. Considering that the "market value" of these ships is somewhere in the vicinity of 80 bil (that being the only vehiculated numbers so far)... so even if you plan to make them cost 50 bil (a "nice roundish number") you'd still expect the very least 25 mil LP, 5-10 bil ISK, and 15-20 bil worth of tags. As far as "complexes being in BOB space", I am not sure if you are aware of this newfangled concept of "exploration" and the way even remotely valuable complexes get distributed lately... meaning, random location somewhere in the "regions inhabited by" the respective NPCs. I hardly believe "BOB" controls a vast majority of the regions inhabited by certain NPC types, and even if they would, there's always the OTHER NPC faction types.
To be perfectly honest, I really, really doubt the devs would even CONSIDER this as an alternative. For all I know, no new "event" battleships will ever be given out again, except maybe in some future events. ___
As for that "bug" that let you select a faction/event battleship as invention target, guess what, it has been nuked from the SiSi build a long time ago already... soon after it was discovered, that is. _ Char creation | Stacknerfs | Invention |CNVTF |

Their market value being 80bil is only supported because there are only a few in existance.
I could easily see 8bil being the pricetag on them.
Though I dont think this is actually going to happen.... the slight feeling of my leg being pulled tipped me off.

Edited by: Shaemell Buttleson on 18/11/2007 17:44:27 I saw in a screenie from a devblog or another source on this forum that it is possible to get them by invention as well as the more common CNR and the yet to be released T2 BS's. (see tonyas link)
If this is actually going to be possible why can't the LP store have them also?
Also with the promise of "factional warfare" and rewards for service to factions maybe it will be a faction LP store.
In the end I have speculated on 1 screenie I saw. Noone really knows what exactly will happen as new ideas and improvents are implemented from week to week.

C'mon CCP Greyscale, you should tell the whole story, not only the first part. What you said happened a while ago, thats true.
However, after Dr. EyjoG released his lates Quaterly Economic Newsletter, showing that an overwhelming majority of more than 3/4 of players lived in empire, it became clear that there should be some longterm goals for empire inhabitants (equal to mothership and titans for <0.5 inhabitants) aswell - and then the things in the office, that have been thrown at you, start to flying the other direction. It was decided to introduce those rare ships for LPs, but at high cost, so that they are restricted to be extremely rare. So you don't have to be shy and keep that info concealed, everyone is happy that those ships are comming (except to the very few guys that already own them of course), don't hold back the good news

Your right, 0.0 and lowsecs needs a boost in such a way that you can stick around in empire, but you make around 50% less money unless you are a trader or manufacturer.
LOL @ MS, titan being longterm goal for people <0.5, get a clue. You just want a better carebear mobile. Sure you can have it, but you arent able to even fire a single shot on any npc with a bounty higher than 300 k.
What you are suggesting is a grinding machine for people to want more, more, more, more and in the end finally get that ship after endless ammounts of the same boring missions. Than some gang comes along and suicide ganks it in empire, just for laughs and you quite the game.
Than those suicide gankers take the loot and have a awesome time playing the game and having fun! _________________________________________________ Breetime

Let's have a closer look on it:
Originally by: madaluap

Does this sentence make sense ? If you claim that lowsec and 0.0 need a boost to get the empire people there: There are constantly new improvements for 0.0 and pvp, but those who like to live in empire won't go there anyways. As it's the majority, what's wrong about giving them something too ? It's not like it's taken away from 0.0 or lowsec.
Quote: LOL @ MS, titan being longterm goal for people <0.5, get a clue. You just want a better carebear mobile. Sure you can have it, but you arent able to even fire a single shot on any npc with a bounty higher than 300 k.
MS and titans were made as toys for old players with many SP, it's not something you get immideately, you need to train a lot for that and you (or your corp) must pay a huge amount of isk, so yes, it's a longterm goal for people who live in 0.4 and lower. 2nd part: Maybe you didn't know yet, but you can find rats with over 1.2 million bounty in empire missions. You can find missions with over 20 rats in one spot, harder to fight than any belt rat in 0.0. So who really needs a clue here ?
Quote: What you are suggesting is a grinding machine for people to want more, more, more, more and in the end finally get that ship after endless ammounts of the same boring missions. Than some gang comes along and suicide ganks it in empire, just for laughs and you quite the game.
Estimated cost of the ship is something around 10 bil, that's not even half of the grind that you need for a mothership and much less compared to a titan. Noone is forced to grind, it's only a motivation for those who like to do so or already doing it. Suicide ganks make sense if you have expensive modules fitted, which you can find today already, expensive faction and officer modules used by highsec missionrunners. So there's no diffrence for the pirate, whether he kills a cnr or a state raven, if they have the same moduels, except that the state raven will be harder to kill as it has more base shields armor and structure. What you'd then lose are maybe 10-15 billion (depending on fitting) ... does every mothership-pilot (who loses far over 20 billion) quit after his mom died ?
Quote: Than those suicide gankers take the loot and have a awesome time playing the game and having fun!
Even if that's true, what's wrong about it if someone has an awesome time playing the game ? Doesn't look like a reason to not introduce the ship.

One billion LP?
Let's see. Assume 10,000 LP (?) per mission. Running missions 23/7 enables ~50 missions per day, making 500,000 LP / day. So it would take, er, 2000 days to get the billion LP, or 5.5 years.
Better make it 10 billion LP, I think.

Rare ships are the ones given out at events. There exist a handfull and cost is high. Once they get destroyed, there will be no more of those ships. That is rare. Everything else is just more or less expensive.

But whats the point then? I just don't get it? Why introduce something into the game that maybe 2-10 people will get to fly once into their hanger?
I remember when I first started this game and found a website listing all the ships. I saw one that I really wanted and was prepared to grind for -- the Gold Magnate. Later I learned that only 1 Gold Magnate had been give out to the winners of a tourney, and was later destroyed. It was a real downer -- then I thought "Well they wouldn't have put the ship in the game if there wasn't at least a way to see it. What system do you have to go to, to see the ship?". Guess what, you can't see it anywhere either.
I want to see some of this uber rare ships flying around, and the only way you will ever see that is if there is a way to attain one. The LP store is a great way to release such ships to the player -- why not use it? Make it 10 million LPs, 10 billion isk, and some officer tags. That way you won't see many, but hopefully it will encourage someone to actually undock...

Because it gives purpose, meaning, and background instead of boring, meaningless grind? Do you know what happened to the Fedathron? Do you know the story behind the Gold Magnate? What happened to the Imperial Apocalypse, and what roles they played in eve history? No? What other game has truely rare things, things that cannot be obtained by mindless, meaningless grind? Designing a overpowered ship with somewhat retexured skin takes a day - how long does it take to create legends?
State ships in LP store, this idea is so pathetic, words cannot describe it.
Though actually. Id set them in for 500k LP. Requirement: racial mothership ...

Originally by: Shaemell Buttleson Edited by: Shaemell Buttleson on 18/11/2007 17:44:27 I saw in a screenie from a devblog or another source on this forum that it is possible to get them by invention as well as the more common CNR and the yet to be released T2 BS's.
Shae, you noob! o/
Was possible to invent those on sisi at some point in the past but that was unintentional and thus removed afaik.
Bugger I wanted a Corvus because I am finding it hard to tank level 2 missions in my Drake.

Edited by: Dragon Lord on 19/11/2007 23:42:51 Well the current faction ships are now far to common, i think somthing needs to be added further up the lp ladder, even if its just better modules, ho about faction officer mods, obviuosly at sufficently high lp requirement to match ther pirate officer mod prices. Or maybe a faction carrier?, i would love to see the state issue being put into the lp store, i just dont think any ship should be out fo reach of someone. and if they did cost say 6m lps plus rare tags, im sorry but there arnt That many players that could afford them. Maybe im wrong on that one, but it would be nice to have somthing further up the lp ladder.

Honor Loyalty Points grinding ftw?
I'd be happy if they at least pumped some more of the 'dead ships' back into the game; even if they were just rewards for some lottery. I'd be unhappy if everyone could buy the ships. I'd be utterly befuddled if CCP saw any reason to make a 5.5 year (assuming farmer) grind for one of those ships.

I agree. I probably couldn't own an empire issue BS anyway (I'm bad at saving) but it's kind of sad to know they are effectively not in the game. They're powerful, they're beautiful and they might as well not exist. This isn't unique game mechanic, this is the equivalent of a ultra-rare drop in other games. Fix it. Make the price ridiculous, but allow people to dream about those ships and to work towards that goal. Make that goal personal, let the ships cost LP that can't be bought for ISK.

Your right, 0.0 and lowsecs needs a boost in such a way that you can stick around in empire, but you make around 50% less money unless you are a trader or manufacturer.
So you confirm this has all been a thinly disguised epic whine because you can't get what you want?

On a related note, I think it would be better if factions started adopting tech 2 ships. Give me the chance to get a Navy Issue Cerberus.
